In this video I show you how I removed and refit the front driver door card inner panel on a Skoda Fabia MK1 (99-07) which is similar to other VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda models

inner panel fixings:
My car uses M6 threaded bolts with a 10mm head x 10mm thread length. I would recommend using steel rivnut preferred. Be careful taking rivets out.

Thank you again. I broke the little mirror control cover. But drilled a hole and make it conic and with a long conical black screw I used the place of the little torx behind. Now it is much easier to remove and it looks really nice. Not an ugly modification. Done it in the other side to for symmetry. Keep going.

Thanks again for an easy to follow video. It had been a great help, if I had the video, when i changed the innner panel with wires for the window open/close mechanism. The plastic guide was broken on one side (which is a common issue). Look forward to see a video, where you dismount the inner panel and service the window mechanism or the door lock. It can be troublesome and a little difficult, but the way you usually show it step by step in detail, I am sure it will be a great help.

Thank you for you kind comms. I changed the lock many moons ago, but will do a video on it, maybe put my old lock back just for fun. I wanted to do the door card video so I don't have to do it again when I take the inner panel stuff off. The videos do take some time to do, but it is my editing software and computer that slows me down at the moment. Would you believe I use 'Shotcut' and an old laptop, which takes forever to compile ;-)

Nice to know how to do it correctly Harvey ! Had I had this video I would not have broken the mirror control panel, broke the clip of the kerb light, and lost one of the door card retaining clips ! I looked at another substandard foreign video which had no sub titles and mistakes were inevitable! Your vids leave no doubt about the proper way ! Thanks a mill !

You read my mind hatboyharvey, I really needed this how to. In my door panels I have reflectors instead of the Courtesy lights. So I was wondering if the loom connection would still be there & I was like how do I get the door card off. I have an 07 Bohemia estate, I think a lot of little extras were not on this final model like the earlier Fabia models. I’m pretty certain my wing mirrors are not heated either. I also have the dreaded boot not opening, I viewed your upload on that. But I think either to tailgate switch is buggered or the solenoid catch release needs replacing. You & your uploads over the years have saved me £’s in labour bills at garages. Thanks 🙏 & have a nice day, the suns out up here in Yorkshire, gonna do some Fabia tinkering. 👋

You're very welcome, will do a video on fitting a new regulator mechanism. It is easier if you have an earlier model that is bolted on rather than the the riveted later models :-)

What size bolts do you need to fit the door panel itself? :) Mine had rivets originally, but i would like to reinstall with Bolts instead if i can

She's a real beauty even though this is a kitten shot, I have 2 well adjusted individuals, brother and sister. I had a British blue short-hair once, but these are just ordinary moggies. Good luck with socializing her with the new cat :-) (I do plan to install new speakers as I have found some good Panasonic or pioneer ones in the loft)

hello to you also. It all depends upon the speakers you are fitting, which may or not fit with the original adapters. Many aftermarket speakers come with there own adapters and you will have to drill out the rivets probably. I'm sorry but it isn't my field really and only listen to the radio :-)

@@HatBoyHarvey I have the 1.4 16v and I have problems with the egr / probe, change the collector but it has not been solved, and I wanted to cancel the egr but I already told you it is electric and gasoline

If the EGR is electrically operated you can't delete it without changes within the ECU. The fault you mention may lay somewhere else, maybe the map sensor, crankcase breather, PCV valve.

Thanks, I haven't changed mine yet, buy have got some speakers that mat fit so will look into installing those when I get chance. You have to be mindful of the spacers and water ingress :-)

@@HatBoyHarvey I fiinish my work.I buy a pair The Pioneer speakers TS-G1710F with plastic adapters and signal conectors. My seller assured me that this will fit well...but i must modify almost everything ;) Big surprise was stock speakers install on nit connection. Who do that ??? :O But finally i finish and it is much better. I have stock Skoda radio wiith casette player (oldschool) :)

Thanks :-) Maybe I'll do the coolant change soon. If you are desparate - check level is correct -open tap under the radiator - empty contents and measure - refill with exactly the same amount of pre-made climate adjusted coolant :-)

No, I´m not desperate. Just I´d like to see a good coolant change because there are a lot of videos that don´t show the change done in the correct way.I bet that you´ll do it smoothly, as always in your channel.Just don´t forget to open the lower pipe of the oil chiller. This is never done in RU-vid videos and it´s really important.Also, when people change the brake fluid they never say that the clutch is also hydraulic and it must be purgued as well. Maybe because they ignore it.Go ahead with you make the things thinking in the people, and this deserve a recognition.

Standard speaker is approx 6" or 145mm diameter 165mm total including rivet holes. The depth of the speaker protruding form the inner metal panel is 40mm total. Hope this helps :-)

Thanks for letting me know your interest in this. It looks like you would only have to drill out the rivets to fit new ones and attach, but never done that. I would only install if a company offers them to me :-)

Hallo Gordon Kunz Lautsprechergröße Der Standardlautsprecher hat einen Durchmesser von ca. 6 "oder 145 mm und einen Durchmesser von 165 mm einschließlich Nietlöchern. Die Tiefe des Lautsprechers, der aus der inneren Metallplatte herausragt, beträgt insgesamt 40 mm. Ich hoffe, dies hilft. Mi skoda sedan tiene un terrible problema en la perilla de cierre de las puertas,no es electrónico es manual...crees poder decirme como reparar esa parte? O q crees q deba hacer?

¿Se enciende la luz de la tecla? ¿Funciona la llave todas las cerraduras manualmente en la cerradura de la puerta del conductor? Cuando abre la puerta, ¿están encendidas las luces interiores / luz de la puerta? ¿Funciona la luz intermitente de seguridad en la tarjeta de la puerta? Verifique las conexiones que van a la puerta por el pilar A y también la cerradura de la puerta y la unidad de control debajo del volante al lado del pedal del embrague / calentador. ¿Ha habido algún problema con la humedad en el coche? Por ejemplo: los espacios para los pies se mojan; esto puede causar problemas eléctricos con las conexiones. El software OBD2 como VAGCOM podría diagnosticar y aislar el problema para que sepa dónde buscar antes de comenzar a reemplazar cosas. Las unidades de control fallan / las cerraduras de las puertas fallan / fallan las conexiones de cableado. También verifique que la batería esté bien con buena tierra. Espero que esto ayude :-)

@@HatBoyHarvey no,la luz de puerta abierta no enciende,la perilla de la puerta no baja,la cerradura de llave del conductor esta totalmente dañada,gira a 360 grados,no tengo problemas de humedad por ahora...las otras puertas si cierran bien usando la perilla,pero no abren muy bien desde afuera...la del chofer si..pero antes no abría desde afuera ahora si abre desde afuera...cuando se abren las puertas las luces interiores a veces no reaccionan al mismo tiempo o a veces no apagan cuando la puerta cierra...no sabia q mi skoda tenia entrada OBD2(EN DONDE ESTA hubicada?

Vale. Por lo que dice, creo que debe mirar la cerradura de la puerta del conductor y su microinterruptor y entonces reemplazarlo. Espero que no haya dañado el brazo de la pala del cañón de la cerradura; Si esta roto, se puede reemplazarlo fácilmente con cualquier otro cañón de la cerradura. Verifique los cables y conexiones que salen del pilar A y del motor de la ventana y del cierre. Espero que le ayude. :-)

Cuando enciende el motor, ¿hay luces de advertencia encendidas? Compruebe que la batería tenga más de 12 voltios y compruebe que se esté cargando a unos 14 voltios. Jó ez a bemutató,azért megjegyezném,hogy nálunk nyilván ez a baloldali ajtóra vonatkozik,és csak ha lehet meleg helyen legyen a szerelése,mert a müanyag törik.A gyári hangszorót én szívesen kicserélném,mert egy idő után a membrán már szétszakad,és a hang torz lesz.Sajnos nekem már a 3.panel van benne,mert az ablakkeret tartó müanyag el szokott törni. Ez avval jár,hogy az ablakot nem lehet sem lehúzni,/ez még a jobbik eset/Sem fel,és akkor panell ki,és vagy komplett csere,vagy ha lehet akkor jav,de ez is borsos áron megy,ja és elektromosról beszélek.A bontóba 10efr köril lehet kapni.

Yup, bolt on mine being slightly older model I think. I think it maybe possible to convert a riveted panel to bolted one somehow :-)

Hi Harvey Top Banana. Getting the small window switch cover off wasnt so easy. Couldnt have done it without your guide. I did buy some plastic prise tools though. cheap and very useful! Im now going to attempt the replacement window regulator following your video guide! Without your detailed excellent video 'how to guides' it just wouldn't be easy and errors or trim damage would be highly likely!

@@HatBoyHarvey cheers Harvey. Innow have the door card off! I did break a few clips though. They are a bit brittle with old age like me! Ive order new ones off Ebay. Sadly my metal door inner panel is rivetted on and not bolted on, which is a pain. I guess ill have to carefully drill those rivets out. I have just ordered some ruver nuts and a rivet nut wrench to attach them. The replacement panel just has holes. Ive not done rivnuts before, so not sure what size I will need or how to attach them. I'll see what arrives in the post. Thanks very much. All good so far! Cheers and Best Andrew
