hey man I know It's been a while since you've uploaded the video but here I am. My skoda doesn't show the actual percentage of the battery status but instead ir show SOC...% Do you have any idea why and how can i see the actual number? Thanks in advance
Wonder if this is because it cannot work out the charge from the battery due to it being changed and not programmed to the car? When replacing the battery I believe the ECU needs to know of the replacement to work out the state of charge.
@@ChrisHorswill bought the car last summer,it has been fabricated in september 2016,to be honest I don't know if the original battery was changed since the car is 5 and a half years old. Someone pointed out that the battery might cause another problem that I have now,that I didn't have last summer,which is that the start-stop system doesn't work even when activated; the A icon in the dashboard is crossed and the start-stop doesn.t work. I'll have the battery checked next week,thanks for the advice!
I have same issue like you Ciprian. Mine is Octavia 2015 TDI Start Stop. Battery was weak with low amperaj. Checked SOC status on cluster and showed SOC--%. After changing the battery with same like was on the car (original the car was delivered with Varta battery) , coded , the status showed is the same SOC--%. I believe that the cars for Romanian or eastern Europe market doesn't have the option activated or missing some components for reading status of charge on cluster.
My 2016 octavia doesnt show the battery status when i press and hold that button. I have recently had the battery replaced, but the mechanics had the car coded for the new battery so it should show? I never tried this function before replacing the battery, so i dont know if it showed then.
Never mind, just tried it with turning the engine on and off again, and then it came up. I have only tried it with the engine running previously, guess it doesnt work then? Anyways, now it says "SOC---%" like the guy below here. Might be because I had the battery replaced, but like I said the mechanics had the car programmed/coded for the new battery, so it should work..
Might take a few charge cycles and miles before it knows the state of charge. I think coding is certainly the key for replacing these batteries. Also, would need to be the correct type of battery too, such as AGM or EFB battery.
Didn't work on my mk3. I've an estate and keyed entry (SE L 1.5). Cleared trip, showed "Time" but then returned to the main display. Only other difference was that the last journey summary was the shown detail before pressing the trip reset button. I've read elsewhere that they scrapped the SOC check around 2016 :/ Given the datestamp for the upload of this video is 20 Nov 2020, when was the video actually recorded?
@@ChrisHorswill ok thanks. Mine's a 2019 reg mk 3. Must be more up to date software. I've read that you can potentially configure a state of charge display using vcds.
Same here. I think I have had it work some time ago. The only difference is that I charged the battery yesterday as it wasn't doing the stop/start. Thought it would be useful to check the level with the car's own function but, no. Also wanted to check it as the stop/start is still intermittent. Thought it would work fine with a full charge. Dunno why it's so convoluted to do this, anyway. Why not just a basic function within the car's "CAR" menu on the screen?😊
