2 questions about the speakers 1rst is the camera moving with Skullcandy how much bass it has and 2cnd question what eq are you using for both bass boost or something? Thanks bm
I'm using bass boost with both speakers and a custom eq for the soundcore, the skullcandy has more deep bass where the soundcore rave party 2 has more punchy mid bass, both are very similar in the amount of bass they produce, just very different speaker setups and enclosures
Not sure if anyone else has made mention of this. But i do have a request or a suggestion. Personally i would be intrigued to see how the barrel XT would go against a Soundcore Motion Boom Plus! Any thoughts?
I'll try to get my hands on a motion boom plus but I know for sure the skullcandy is going to have the better bass, but I'll try to get one and do a vs battle asap
Hey Jagist! I am curious if you could only have one which would you take between the boombox 3, encore essential, and rave party 2?! I own a tribit blast but I'm looking for another speaker! Deciding between those 3
If battery isn't an issue I'd go with the jbl encore it has the most and deepest bass, if battery matters the for sure the jbl bb3, I don't really like the soundcore rave party 2, the port makes a lot of port noise when listening to bass heavy stuff
@Jagistreviews awesome man, looking forward to it! I own a blast, just updated it to V 3.5 I feel like it has more bass, could be all in my head though! But was looking for something even more bass lol
@e.c.cannarella1245 encore will have a much deeper louder bass you will love it, I don't have my tribit stormbox blast anymore but I'm going to get another, I'm curious if it did get more bass from the update or not
@Jagistreviews Great video man. I was really curious how the soundcandy would sound bass wise. I like groups like. FROM ASHES TO NEW and others as like Mudvanye and linkin park. But the biggest concern of mine was the size of the skullcandy. Because I wanted a Bluetooth speaker and didn't see any for a reasonable price at all. And with Wal-Mart having the skullcandy being as cheap of a price it is. My worry was because I had skullcandy Bluetooth headphones and they sounded horrible. I wanted one of the JBL Bluetooth speakers but they all was to pricey for me. But great review on the Skullcandy.
@jasonschannel1315 thank you and honestly I would get the skullcandy Barrel, it can't be beat for the price I would say it's not even that far under the jbl boombox 3, I love mine, you won't regret it
@@Jagistreviews Your welcome! And Thanks again man. Because of your video is the reason I was deciding on the Skullcandy boombox that and the price of course.
Im very hesitant on getting the skullcandy as ive had the smaller ones and they didnt sound good at all, im wondering if i should just save and get the JBL boombox instead?
@Jagistreviews wow alright, when I was watching the video I could tell it sounded way better then the smaller ones and the bass was actually there. I love JBL and regret getting rid of my partybox I had and have been looking for a replacement so if your comparing it to the boombox 2 it might be the next purchase
@Beastmode-xe7kx for the price you can't go wrong it's damn good and you won't be disappointed, it's not as good as the partybox 110 but it's right there with the boombox 2 and 3
Click the bluetooth button on the barrel and see if it shows up on your phones bluetooth, I haven't had any problems with pairing to it at all, also you can reset the speaker if you need to, it tells you how to achieve that in the manual towards the end of the manual, let me know if you get it working
@@Jagistreviews tried all those suggestions and unfortunately none work. The speaker shows up as an available device when in pairing mode but it just won’t connect. Tried on an iPhone, android, tablet and laptop and nothing. Was hoping to find a solution besides returning it (Skullcandy support’s solution) but it looks like I’ll have to return it. I really like this speaker and bought based on your unboxing review vid. Thanks for the reply.
@thedrewster562lbc dang I'm really sorry it's having problems and nothings working that's always the worst, I would return it and get a new one sent to you, you must have gotten a faulty unit, for sure return it and get a new one, it's worth it to get a working one sent to you, they sound really dang good
It definitely beats the motion boom plus, so does the jbl boombox 2 and 3 but I'll try to get one soon and vs battle them together just so we have some solid proof of how it holds up
can the skullcandy play sub bass well? and can you feel the bass in your chest? and if you have a jbl boombox 3 how well does the skullcandy compare? looking for an alternative to the boombox 3 because its sooooo expensive
It's about the same bass as the jbl boombox 2 but not quite as good as the jbl boombox 3, it's amazing for me and I'm really loving it, also you can get 2 or 3 skullcandy Barrel XT for the same price as 1 jbl boombox 3 so it's way worth it and a good alternative in my opinion
The recording is not perfect, it does sound really good just the bass and sound to me sounds better on the skullcandy, the rave party 2 is way good though minus the port noise on bass heavy songs
@@Jagistreviews oh ok. I just bought the skull candy one, Walmart has it on sale for $80. I really like it. I didn’t realize until about 20 minutes ago that it has bass boost lol. I was a little disappointed at first bc I expected it to be louder. But once I hit the bass boost…. DANG! Lol. I’m impressed. And especially at the price.
@lynz1370 the skullcandy bass is amazing and yes you must use the bass boost button ha ha it sounds so good with bass boost on, very comparable to the jbl boombox 2 and almost the 3, and for way way cheaper
@@Jagistreviews right! That’s what I thought too. Like a third of the price… at least at the moment lol I am a little disappointed though. I got the skull candy hesh anc headphones since they were on sale for $50 since I used to have skull candy aviators and those were amazing. Figured it would be even better at least 10 years later. But honestly I got a pair of black web headphones for $11 about 5 years ago and those seem louder and have more bass then the skull candy hesh ones 🙄 tried to see if there was a bass boost on those but nope. So hard to find decent cheap headphones with good bass. I refuse to spend $200 on beats 🙄
The sound core sounds better to me as far as the mid to upper frequencies. Id take the soundcore because I prefer clarity over bass. I like some bass but its not my main focus.
Soundcore is not bad and does have a bit better mids, only prob is on bass heavy songs the port gets super noisy, I actuality never use the souncore anymore because of that, the ultimate ears hyperboom is still my go to if I'm not looking for crazy deep bass and more hifi sounding
Mine comes next week. Ill compare it to my encore essential and phantom II. Probably wont beat ether of them but if it can come close ill be a major steal. Just from what iv seen and read this speakers bass would roghtly equal the bb2 give or take. Ill also take an in room frequency response measurement. If it can make any notes lower than 40hz this will be the speaker of the year.
I had a monster blaster 3.0 for a day. Worst speaker I ever listened to. Very very bright highs. Almost screeching mixed with the most upper bass focused woofer I ever heard from a dedicated woofer setup. Played some frequency sweeps, and it can't produce anything lower than 60hz. My encore can do about 35hz and my phantom II can do about 25hz clean. Anything below is meh.
Heck yeah let me know what tour results are, this thing is amazing for 169$ hard to beat but not better than the encore and for sure not better than a phantom ha ha I wish
@alexlittig7927 ya monster blaster 3.0 suffers so bad on lower hertz but is a very clear sounding speaker and not as screachy as the jbl boombox 3 but not a great speaker all around, I'm going to make a video vs monster blaster 3.0 and skullcandy Barrel asap
@spechtacular1 it doesn't have a eq other than a bass boost mode, it does adjust itself so it's not over powering at lower volumes, it really shines at about 65% volume, it unfortunately does not come with a strap but you can buy one for cheap online, I just use my jbl extreme strap for it
I have had then all lol. A bit of a speaker freak probably like you and a lot of us. I got rid of the JBL great but really expensive and have the tribit now and think it sounds really good for the price but if the Skullcandy has more bass and like the light better I think it's a potential diamond. Appreciate you taking the time to post, and hopefully, someone can do a comparison with the boombox
@Jagistreviews would love to see against the hyperboom if you still had. I had it too and sounded really great at high volume but really had to be about 75% or higher volume and not so good at lower
Ok guys I just got the skullcandy and have the Tribit to compare and as far as sound and design in my opinion I think the skullcandy candy has it beat. Not by a lot but I do think it sounds better and prefer the lights and you can have a strap. I was disappointed about the non built in power brick but them concluded it might actually be a benefit since it's a little lighter without. For me the last unknown is the real battery life at 70ish volume and above?
I haven't fully checked the battery but I believe the tribits battery is better than skillcandy but light, build, and sound I think skillcandy wins for me
@Jagistreviews you were pretty close 5 1/2 hours at 75% no lights. Man I really prefer the sound and design and lights but the Tribit has significantly better battery life! Confused!!
@spechtacular1 I figured tribit would have better battery, it has one of the best batteries out of all of these speakers, but I love the skull candy more I just wish they would have given it a bigger battery though
I enjoyed how the phone was shaking when it was the soundcore playing at full volume. That was really crazy! But then i'll still pick the Skullcandy cos of the aesthetics. I'm just gonna ask you two questions though. How does the Skullcandy handle vocals and how is the battery life so far?
Ya those upper bass notes the soundcore really can throw them out that's why the camera moves with it, both are really good speakers, the battery life is pretty good bit could be better on the skullcandy, it's only rated at 12 hours, but the vocals and bass sound really good on the skullcandy Barrel XT
Skull candy has always been the same with it's quality or better they never miss. I grew up skating when cord earbuds were still cool and Skullcandy was always my choice over apple earbuds, jvc, jlab etc. solely on the fact they would never sound distorted at full volume and would completely block off all other sounds. Quick fact Skullcandy was made for people in sports and into outdoor activities hence the durability, quality, price point
Soundcore kinda sounds plasticy it's one of the more underwhelming 200$ speakers I own, the skullcandy sounds loads better especially in person, plus I hate that there is port noise on the soundcore it's a bummer
@runtz61 they both sound about the same loudness to me but I think the bass and sound quality is better on the skullcandy too me, the soundcore is one of my least favorites
I'm going to get another jbl bb3 but I can tell you the bb3 and encore beat the skullcandy Barrel and tribit stormbox blast, they are just a step above these other speakers, the skullcandy sounds super similar to the jbl bb2 I'll do a test as soon as I can though
Jbl prices are absolutely garbage 💯, I'm not getting the new boombox wifi, I could get 4 skullcandy for that price, they have lost there minds on what they charge for the product they give, I'm with you honestly ha ha
