I'll never forget the first time i saw this band....1998 they were introduced by Sevendust. The whole crowd went and bought their record after their set. The power and emotion that Skin put out was insane. She was barefoot and bareheaded, something we hadn't ever seen and her voice something we had never heard. It's a memory burned into my mind that will never fade....Thank you Skunk Anansie.

I was lucky to see Strange Days in the cinema when it came out, and man the soundtrack was wicked! I remember hearing this song during the film. Oh what a glorious experience it was to sink in these sounds.

What a brilliant album this was, every single song is a true masterpiece. damn I miss 90s...

Anansie the spider is the most powerful figure in African culture. This woman is my sole human idol. What she did for Afro punk black women (my phone won’t let me spell auto spell women is weird) is soul liberating!!!!!

When she starts singing "love" in her undulating melody I wish she would go on forever.

Without a doubt she was one the most talented rock female vocalists in the 90s !! What a voice and what a band!!

Skin is one of the greatest female vocalists of all time and gets 0% of the credit she deserves en masse. If that isn't proof that the "obvious factors" aren't factors......... I dunno what is.

Hearing this soulful, passionate song in the trailers for the movie Strange days sold me on watching the film. Both are some of my favorite pieces of artistic expression to this day. Skin is a legend.

Rediscovered after re-watching _Strange Days_ the other day. It was just another '90s movie the first time I watched it but now it seems so prescient in portraying genre-bending music, even though it totally missed on the tech. Really, watch the movie again. You'll swear you're seeing Bradley Cooper.

Skin is absolutely thee best female rock vocalist of all time. Full of technique, dynamics and brilliant use of melody. Just so right on. I remember when this came out. Bought it immediately. And the rest of the record is fantastical. Oh and the band is A1 Killer. You guys effing rock 🤘🪨🤘

I only heard BBC Radio Solent in the 1990s because of my then occupation - which means I’ve never heard their music until now. I met Skin in Brisbane in 1996 when Skunk Anansie supported the Sex Pistols at the now defunct Festival Hall. She autographed my denim shorts. Really nice and intelligent young lady she was.

We need Skin and Skunk Anansie now more than ever. Maybe they were ahead of their time in '95... maybe they are relevant no matter what year it is? I kinda hoped some of the issues they raise and raised would have been dealt already in 2021. But no... we need more strong women, we need more people being vocal about indigenous cultures and peoples and people of color... about human and civil rights, police brutality, sexual and non-sexual abuse, modern slavery, using the weak as tool of power politics etc. etc. Sad we still have tons of these issues. Were things ever any better?
