US Digital visits SkyFuel, a concentrated solar power plant, and highlights their SkyTrough which features ReflecTech and the US Digital T7 Inclinometer. Learn more about the T7 Inclinometer: www.usdigital....
Yeah no problem folks! We are passing our overpriced equipment costs on to you! The consumer! We have a good sales pitch and everyone will be forced to subsidize us while we never turn a dollar of profit on our own. Thanks!
Why not more? Cost is 10 or 15 times that of photovoltaic. The only advantage of solar thermal is that high grade heat can be stored much more easily than electricity. So why not equip these plants with 12 or more hours of heat storage? The spot price of electricity is lower at night than by day. Solar thermal power plants can achieve much higher efficiency if they are permitted to consume some water on the heat sink side. Photovoltaic consumes no water. It is all economic-driven.
Good Efficiency is achieved on sunny places which are usually places around Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn which have desert or semi desert climate , places like Arizona and California are good candidates, worldwide Middle East, North Africa, South Africa and Australia are good places for such project, the number of clear sky days per year and stable day hours are very crucial
