The Stormcloak Champion armor is the most realistic armor ive ever seen in elder scrolls. Its actual real armor. Valsgarde Helmet, lammellar armor and chainmail. Looks exactly like a eastern viking would look lke a Rus or Svegr Viking

BandoLando the legion one is actually a lot like the real centurions of the Roman legion. I think the mask is usually a ceremonial mask used by the Calvary. To impress the newly conquered or to bring joy the the people. I think. But that stormcloak armor is insanely realistic.

You know that a blade with a thicker part at the end was a thing irl right? It's likely based on a gladius sword used by the Romans (the Romans being a source of inspiration for the empire), the thicker part adds weight to the end making slashes much heavier (also helps if you want to use it to chop your way through jungle), basically making the sword a tad more axe like. When it comes to the axe you found to be weird it's honestly the most realistic battle axe in all of Skyrim :D, likely also based on a real design. The storm cloak armor it might be hungerian or something like that like you said, but some of the irl Viking armors also looked like that (the more organised and better equipped ones) and since it's a nord armor i'm assuming it's based on those.

The axe is a daneaxe and the sword is a typical vikingsword. The sword of the imperial guy is a gladius with a mainz bladeshape. Now you know a little bit more about weapons. ;)

I love how the Stormcloak armour has 20% shout reduction. You can now reach 80% reduction in total legit, 100% with the unofficial patch.

@@Leto85 Or you use Necromage Vampire/Bloodworm Helm(CC) Vampire with Stormbear Armor, Amulet of Talos, Blessing of Talos and the Dragon Aspect Shout for 100% reduction. Or use both Necromage Vampire and the Bloodworm Helm to get 93% reduction with just Stormbear Armor, Amulet of Talos and Blessing of Talos.

OMG finally some armor that looks historically accurate. Love that Ulfbehrt Migration-Era/Viking-Era sword and the Dane Axe. The Stormcloak armor just looks phenominal- something right out of the pages of history. And don’t even get me started on the beautiful Roman Scutum and Gladius. This is all so breathtaking for a historical enthusiast like me.

The War-bear set is very reminiscent of the armour worn by danish and anglo saxon settlers in britain. Even the weapons are almost life-like recreations of historical weapons, with a touch of skyrim lore added to them. *Almost makes me want to side with the stormcloaks.

Glad that Bethesda is benefiting the PS4 community and judging by this they plan to take more modders on to make bigger projects. If they can manage a dungeon and all this beautiful content then I'm sure they might be working on a DLC sized creation or might plan to. What I really want is a new set of quests or questline, I wouldn't mind if it didn't have its own area but I'm sure many people would buy it due to the lack of quest mods for PS4. Was very happy when I saw their new creations. This is a great video btw from the best Skyrim content creator :D

Ik I'm pretty late to the convo, but the Dragons Oath sword was based on the the Roman Gladius. it was used mostly for stabbing due to how the Romans warfare tactics were, but at the time the Gladius could pierce the absolute hell out of any armor that it came across.

My exact thoughts. He called it weird but somehow thinks the big double bladed hunks of metal the game calls axes are okay. ESO has very very little knowledge of real weapons and armor. He called the imperial champion sword a sword like gladiatorial swords. Its a pompeii gladius with a fancy hilt, and he kept calling the stormcloak armor hungarian armor. Probably because the hungarians in kingdom come wore a lot of lammellar, but its rus viking armor.

BandoLando I’ve been intending to go through the weapons and armour in the game and comparing them to historical armours, but I honestly can’t be bothered. Like the town guard helmets are similar to the Varangian guard, the ebony helmet is a sallet with visor, the steel greatsword is a zweihander, the ebony sword looks like a Cossack shashka etc

berserkerpride Thats not rus. Helmet is from vendel period, found in modern sweden. Armour is just mail with lamellar on top, its universal in almost all over the world.

Does it even matter if elder scrolls online 6 comes out now? All the relevant content is going to be pay walled. Your probably going to have to be exclusively online to play even if it's single player. The creation club is showing us what is to come. I can't even take eso seriously anymore when he hypes garbage payed mods that probably already exist on the Nexus. The seasons content costs almost half the price of the game on sale for like ten to fifteen minutes of content. It's a joke.

The newest Xbox and PS4 are really nice but still don't hold a candle to top PC tech. It also makes me sad that they don't go balls to the wall on a PC exclusive title. The technology for the PC has been there since before Skyrim . 7 years after Skyrim it's gone leaps and bounds.

...That’s almost enough to make me consider buying my first item from the creation club. Almost. The attention to detail on both sets is fantastic. The Stormcloaks get a fairly historically accurate Dane Axe and Ulfberht sword, and a right proper set of Viking armor. And the Empire gets centurion armor, a gorgeous looking Gladius, a Scutum, and that lovely warhammer.

When I did that battle the first time, a Legendary Dragon suddenly appeared mid-dialogue and quickly killed all the soldiers in maybe a perfect analogy for the Civil War, by the end, only the Dragonborn and Lydia were left standing.

This Creation will go well with the other Armour overhaul mod you did in a previous video. The stormcloak champion armour won't look out of place with that one. Also, Inigo is getting that imperial armour :)

the stormcloack champions armor is actually a lot like Vendel period Scandinavian armor, which was in fashion from about 500-700 ad, although I see where you're getting a Hungarian vibe, also the axe shown is very typical of the real world vikings, and in reality double-bitted axes where very rare in battle, and finally the sword is a typical germanic migration era/vendel/viking age sword

Hungarian he says, looks more Norse/Anglo-Saxon to me. Axe is unusual? It's a common weapon among the Norse, Saxons, and the Normans known as the Dane Axe. Sword is a replica of the legendary Norse weapon Ulfberht.

I'm no weapons expert, but that Stormcloak axe looks a whole lot like a long-haft type M Dane axe. The were most common at the tail end of the Viking era and some tile onwards - guessing you can imagine the relation in name.

The bracers and leg armor (Schynbalds!) are what's called splinted mail... sort of. Usually it'd have leather strips inbetween.

When it comes to the Stormcloak armor versus the Imperial armor, the biggest benefit for the Stormcloak one is the reduced Shout cooldown. It'll stack with the Amulet and Blessing of Talos to take 60% of the cooldown away. The biggest misstep to me on the Stormcloak is the amount of Frost Resistance on it. Nords already have 50% Frost Resistance, and it caps at like 80 or 85%. It would have been better to have a total of 30% Magic Resistance.

According to the video, it would seem that wearing the Storm-Bear Helmet with the Storm-Bear Armor grants a bonus 70 armor.

What a great mod. Hats off to this modder. The imperial armor is top knotch, and i love the stormcloak one too but i think it shld have had more of a nordic (viking scandinavian) detail mixed with it. Also there shld be an option between the factions but its still very detailed and looks amazing

Uhm... wut? The helmet is literally based DIRECTLY on actual Scandinavian helmets... Also chainmail was quite commonly used by the Norse as well, and there's even archeological finds of lamellar armor... what more did you want? You do realize that the vikings weren't walking around wearing fur and horned helmets, right? That's total cartoony Hollywood nonsense

There is a free armor mod for Legion armor and the crest of the Imperial helmet can be black or red. But that said the Stormcloak armor is different and neither the weapons or shields are the same as anything out there. So if you really want the Stormcloak armor or the new weapons and shields then this would be a good buy.

I know I’m a year late to the party but I’ve just started Skyrim again after a couple of years or so not playing it and I’ve been getting some of the Creation Club gear largely based on your reviews. I just wanted to add that I think the Lord’s Mail goes nicely with this set as an alternate chestpiece.

The symbols on the stormcloak shield represent the holds that side with jarl ulfric stormcloak- two crossed daggers = riften, plus/star = dawnstar, crown thing (or the college) = winterhold. I can never tell what the logo for winterhold is supposed to be
