Even in death you can't remove the elderscroll from your inventory.

He was burried with his most prized possessions: 67 wooden buckets 49 wheels of cheese 137 bottles of various alcohol 17 insanely deadly poisons that also make its victims masters at enchanting for some reason A double-enchanted dragonbone warhammer named "Dragonboner" Every Daedric artifact ever made (the selfish bastard) A fork with 5 points of fire damage enchanted with the soul of Nazeem 7 complete copies of every volume of "The Lusty Argonian Maid" And one Mark of Dibella

Dragonborn: "When I die, I want Delphine to be one of my pallbearers." Serana: "But why, Dragonborn? You absolutely hate her, and refused to work with the Blades after she asked you to kill Paarthurnax!" Dragonborn: "Yeah, but that way, she'll let me down one last time."

I saw Delphine and I thought to myself, “oh hell no I don’t want her at my funeral”

"Here lies the Dragonborn, he whirlwind sprinted into a wall and very briefly learned about physics and inertia"

I personally like to imagine Lydia carrying the casket up the mountain on her own, and everytime someone offers to help her she simply shakes her head and gives the same response: "I am sworn to carry his burdens."

If he doesn't die in battle, it occurs to me that Serana would probably be the only one left to bury him.

Note they never wrote a name His feats wont be forgotten But his name will be lost to the sands of time

"Bury me with an Elder Scroll." "But why Dragonborn?" "Because you idiots can't be trusted and the next time something kicks off I wanna make sure whoever takes my scroll is ready to throw hands with my ghost."

Whoever raids his tomb looking for the elder scroll is gonna have one HELL of a boss fight

Imagine entering his tomb then a coffin opens and the dragonborn theme starts playing

This reminds me of the very last big playthrough I did in Skyrim. My character was a real hero--saved Skyrim, defeated Harkon, killed Miraak, destroyed the dark brotherhood, the whole nine yards. But during the boss fight with Harkon, he was infected with vampirism just before he struck Harkon down. In my head canon, it was like a final act of spite, a final curse before being slain. My character struggled with his vampirism for the rest of the game, even as he went on to do many great deeds, hiding his secret shame from the people he fought to protect, knowing they'd turn on him if they knew. His craving for blood tormented him constantly, turning even his moments of greatest triumph to ashes in his mouth. I used the better vampires mod to make sunlight lethal to him, so he could not even feel its warmth against his skin. Then, one day, as he stood in a cave to hide from an imminent dawn, I realized something. His work was done. All the great enemies had been defeated, the civil war was over. Skyrim was at peace, stable, and strong. So my character removed his helm and let it fall to the ground, followed by his gauntlets. He unbuckled his sword and unsheathed it, glancing at the blade that laid so many foes in the graves, and let it fall to the earth as well. I like to think a moment of absolute peace came over him And then he walked, smiling, into the dawn. He was still smiling when the first rays of daylight turned him to ash.

Meanwhile, the Courier laughs while dinking mead knowing he will never have to run across Skyrim to deliver your mail ever again. His assassination plan worked and his mail route will be back to normal.

Ralof: *Dies and goes to Sovengaurd* Dragonborn: “Hey, you. You’re finally awake.”

*Years later when an adventurer loots the Dragonborn’s grave* Dragonborn: “A new hand touches the Elder Scroll!”

As the final shovel of dirt and snow was later upon his coffin, the many friends of the Dragonborn who had gathered to mourn his passing witnessed something unexpected. Every living Dovah, be they friend or foe, gathered at the throat of the world. In unison they all sang out, their voices together heard by all of creation, so that even the Aedra could hear the sorrow of the Dovah at the loss of their mightiest kin. And after they finished singing, all of Nirn fell silent, and every creature shed a tear and bowed its head in respect and sorrow. But this sorrow soon turned to joy, as a new voice rang out from Sovengard, one that all at the throat of the world knew all too well… “Fus Ro Dah”

"How did he die?" Serana: His save game got corrupted "Who is that "save game" you are talking about?"

Dragonborn's Fire resistance values were so ridiculously high that the Skyrim folk were forced to bury him instead of going for the traditional cremation ritual of the nords.

I really like the fact that, Tullius and Ulfric were standing together at the funeral. That's exactly how I would expect a Hero to be sent off.

This gives me an Idea for The Elder Scrolls 6: A few hundred years later, Serana is still around and tasks the new protagonist with finishing what the Dragonborn tried to start when he died. This could also become kind of a mystery element, because Serana could be distrustful of you at first, and over the course of the main storyline she starts to trust you, so she slowly reveals to you what happened, and what big menace managed to kill the Dovahkiin.

Serena: "I told him eating that many cheese wheels was unhealthy"

Guy writing the tombstone: Did anyone get his name? Everyone just looks at each other.

Dragonborn: "dies" Literally after 3 minutes: - hey, you! Finally awake?

Mean while in an alternative time-line: The Dragonborn is the one burying everyone

A lone figure watches from afar, with a broken heart and teary eyes. "I had to admit.... He's been in the cloud district more than I have."

The Last Dragonborn stares out into the distance but we don't see what has captured his gaze. He pauses for a moment before finally drawing his blade. We see a fire burning in his eyes. The Dragonborn exudes a sense of confidence ready for battle as he always has but slowly deep down he begins to feel something else. He begins to recall a life that has been filled with danger and peril, a life where he has had to hold back the world's destruction not once not twice but three fold. After being at the mercy of the executioner at helgen, after slaying the world eater, Alduin. After destroying the most powerful Vampire Lord in history. And after engaging in the ultimate battle of the thuum against The First Dragonborn in the realm of the deadric prince, Hermaeus Mora. It's only now in this moment that the dragonborn wonders why he feels such uncertainty in his power. A knot has formed in the dragonborn's belly, where once there was a raging inferno there was now a calm flame. As if trying to preserve itself and not burnout. A sense of looming dread began to take hold of The Last Dragonborn. The dragonborn takes a long look around him and sees a battlefield spilled with the blood of imperials and stormcloaks. But the scent of iron wasn't the only thing lingering in the air. The smell of burnt meat was also abound. The air was cold and hot at the same time as if two different climates were coexisting. The surrounding trees that once stood strong and unyielding were burned, frozen and scorched with the marks of lighting striking them repeatedly. An impossibility under normal circumstances. However among all these impossible inconsistencies there was one constant that united all these fallen men that lay before the dragonborn. They had all perished facing towards the same direction. It had been storming throughout this entire battle. Rain still falling even now as the dragonborn takes note of everything. Not a single muddied footstep could be seen going the opposite direction. All signs pointed to these men leading a full on assault against a common enemy. Among this sea of blood and corpses the dragonborn begins to hear something. Although the breathing was faint and muffled by the sounds of heavy rain and thunder the dragonborn's keen senses allow him to hear two men barely clinging to life and begins searching until he finds them. These two men were General Tulius and Ulfric Stormcloak. They were heavily injured, their bodies ravaged by the elements and on the brink of death. The dragonborn acts quickly and begins casting grand healing on both Tulius and Ulfric.The dragon born is able to heal most of the grave injuries they sustained but they are still barely able to speak. It wasn't just because of their injuries though. The trauma of seeing their men slaughtered like they were nothing and the incredible power they just witnessed had left them in such shock and disbelief that they were only able to mumble out a few words each. The Last Dragonborn looked at these two prideful, brave and headstrong men with deep worry and wondered what could have unnerved these men to such a degree. Ulfric was first to speak. "Thalmor too powerful...they-" he loses consciousness. Tulius spoke next "The Brass Tower...they control it." The Dragonborn's eyes widen and then they relax. "Rest now" says The Dragonborn. Tulius begins to close his eyes. After seeing the sacrifice these ordinary men made and the bravery they displayed facing down such an insurmountable foe, the dragonborn's resolve was bolstered and the calm flame that resided in his belly grew into a raging inferno once again. He was filled with a sense of duty and determination now. He would ensure the sacrifice these men made was not in vain even if it cost him everything. We finally see what The Last Dragonborn was looking at in the beginning. Off in the distance so far away that even a mountain seemed small, the clouds began to break as if being violently torn apart. Large bronze hands could be seen. They begin to grip the mountain sides and crumbled them with ease the sound of the creatures footsteps could be heard even miles away. The Dragonborn was so fixated on the behemoth he hadn't noticed the large army of Thalmor that was approaching. Blades, magic, arrows and dwemer technology was all being used against him now. The dragonborn raced ahead using whirlwind sprint going far beyond where the slain men lay until he saw them no more and now he was only about a mile from the thalmor army and soon the Bronze God would arrive. The Dragonborn's heart begins to beat louder than the roar of thunder and it echoes across the land. The dragonborn begins to feel a sense of familiarity and quickly realizes it's responding to something within the Bronze God. He doesn't know what it is but now he absolutely is not turning back. He must uncover it's mysteries and defeat the Thalmor. The dragonborn inhales deeply then shouts at the heavens using clear skies to stop the downpour in it's tracks. Then as the last cloud clears and the sun begins to peak, the dragonborn sheathes his mighty dragonbone sword and starts reaching for his back. He draws forth a beautiful silver bow that shined as bright as the sun along with it he drew an arrow equally as bright and elegant as the bow and fired it directly at the sun. Only moments later the sun reacted to this act and began raining another storm, a storm of blindingly powerful sunrays began to shower the field that the large army of Thalmor were inhabiting. The impact of those sun rays reaching mundus at such ludicrous speed caused shining explosions that were as deadly as they were beautiful. The world shook with each strike, the ground melting and breaking at once. The Thalmor were no fools though and the army of mages quickly began to cast a ward so powerful and vast it completely shielded their forces, repelling the power of the sun. The Dragonborn's final battle was upon him and his enemy came prepared. Hours later Tulius and Ulfric awaken they would only have a moment to take in the view before them before a massive blinding light would seemingly engulf all of mundus and the world shook again from the forests of cyrodil to the frozen tundras of skyrim all the way to the sands of hammerfell. This was a world event that everyone took notice of. After the light dissipated and the rumbling stopped Tulius and Ulfric began to walk. A battlefield with deformed land filled with craters, thousands of arrows scattered all over, a crack on the face of the planet that seemed to span for miles creating a chasm of sorts, hundred's of thousands of dead thalmor were laid across the land all seemed to have perished by too many different causes of death to count. Finally after hours of walking they found what they were looking for. The Dragonborn lay lifeless before them facing away as if he was looking at something. A few hundred feet away they could see the Bronze Tower firmly embedded into a large mountain side laying completely still as if it's power source was missing. When the two men went to turn over the dragonborn they were both shocked to find that it wasn't the dragonborn laying in front of them but merely his empty armor that he once wore. All his belongings remained as well including his elder scroll. The Last Dragonborn had seemingly vanished in the blinding flash of light that happened hours ago and was never seen again.

Imagine fighting him as a draugr just freezes time and curb stomps you with a flaming fork

This will be the most difficult draugr boss for those who come for the scroll.

It’s so nice to see Jarl BALLER paying his respects to the deceased Dragonborn

Buried alongside him is also the greatest weapon known to man, a spoon that does 100000000000 points of damage.

I could only imagine the dragonborn waking up, kicking the coffin open and the buff appearing on screen: Well Rested.

I know they aren't exactly cannon to the game, but I can just imagine the mod characters inigo, Lucien, Lucifer, and auri all being there one after the other slowly leaving until inigo, the closest friend just stays there, wanting to stay with us for as long as possible.

As serena puts the scroll on the grave: "Remember, you can't remove quest items from your inventory..."

1000 years later: *Kicks open the coffin* Draugr Dragonborn: "I'M BACK BITCHES!"

Inigo sighs as he rests his hand on the casket, the flurry of snow casting a light blanket over the pine box and tinting his greying fur white. The old cat can’t help but smile thinking back to old times; being released from the cell, watching him take down a dragon for the first time, the long nights spent around a campfire, the short ones spent in a tavern. He swipes away at a tear and turns to the onlookers, his express one laced with melancholy. “We are gathered today to celebrate the life and death of the Last Dragonborn.” He glances back at the casket. “He had many titles. Dovahkiin. Qahnaarin. Vanquisher of the World Eater. Savior of the Sun. Protector of the Elder Scrolls. Collector of Artifacts. Harbinger of Peace. Soldier. Husband. Father. Brother. Hero. But I think his favorite of these titles, was Friend.” Inigo smiles softly at who all was left of the old group. How their numbers dwindled with time. He closes his eyes and sends his friend off with a prayer before slowly taking his hand away. He turns to the crowd once more and raises his voice, it now booming with equal parts volume and pride. “Do not fret for the life he has lost, remember him for the life he breathed into others. A feast awaits you, old friend. Best not to keep the gods waiting.”

Next time the Elder Scrolls takes place in Skyrim, the player has to go to the Dragonborn's tomb which holds the Elder Scroll needed to overcome whichever crisis Tamriel faces.

One day a new evil approaches the coffin hoping to gain the legendary magical armor and weapons of the greatest hero of Tamriel. But he hears boss music as the coffin bursts open and he sees a hulking man rise out of it. On his status bar it simply says. "EXTREMELY WELL RESTED"

I keep coming back to this and feel such a profound sadness I can't place. This is very well done.

Not pictured: 20 minutes earlier, when the Dragonborn decided, having saved the world from three apocalyptic events, that he was probably strong enough to tank a direct blow from a giant.

In Memory of the Dragonborn Here lies a hero of Skyrim, a soul as fierce as the dragons that once darkened our skies, yet as noble as the legends of old. Born under uncertain stars, their destiny was etched in the very fabric of this land. With Thu'um as their voice and steel as their armor, they rose to meet the call of destiny with unwavering courage. They vanquished Alduin, the World-Eater, whose shadow threatened to devour all of existence. With the weight of prophecy upon their shoulders, they faced countless challenges, confronting the treacherous Thalmor, quelling the Civil War's flames, and ensuring the ancient traditions of the Companions endured. In every corner of Skyrim, their name became a symbol of hope, a testament to the indomitable spirit of mortals. They were a listener of the Dark Brotherhood, a harbinger of the Companions, and a master of the arcane arts in the College of Winterhold. Through their deeds, they forged alliances with the diverse races of this land, proving that unity could overcome even the deepest divides. Their compassion, too, shone bright, as they aided the afflicted and uplifted the downtrodden. Though the dragons may have faded into memory, the Dragonborn's legend endures, etched into the very stones of this tomb. In Sovngarde, may they find eternal rest, their spirit forever intertwined with the heart of Skyrim, their legacy an inspiration to all who dare to dream, to challenge, and to conquer. Rest now, Dragonborn, for your tale shall be sung for generations to come, your name a beacon of light in the darkest of times. You have earned your place in the annals of history and in the hearts of all who call Skyrim home. Dovahkiin, Friend, we shall remember you.

To be honest this really made me sad,its was like watching my own death as DB. We need to see this in the next game as an actual cutscene

I could imagine serana guarding the grave of the Dragonborn if she remained a vampire. To keep the elder scrolls safe and the tomb undisturbed

I’m glad Serana was the one to give them the scroll. She would definitely have stayed by their side till the very end

Todd:”wake the f**k up Dragonborn we’ve got a game to rerelease.”

As everyone is leaving, they hear extra footsteps. They turn around only to see that Serana has raised the Dragonborn as a thrall.

Once again, awoken by a slight wooden creaking noise and dripping water, the Dragonborn opened his eyes, finding himself in a damp underground jail. He is immediately greeted by a loud, ear shattering, yet gentle lady voice. "Approach my child, and choose how your new life shall begin"

I like to imagine that the Dragonborn is gonna pop out as a draugr next time there’s a threat

May The Last Dragonborn Rest In Peace... I was there when we captured the dragon... I remember when I told him stories about how I took an arrow to the knee and was an explorer... I remember when I'd complain about my cousin out there fighting dragons and he just listened. He was the GREATEST hero Nirn has ever seen. Rest In Peace Dragon Born.

“The Greybeards mourned with voices that echoed across not only Skyrim, but Nirn itself. Their dirge rang in Elven halls, across Argonian swamps and Khajit sands, and it seemed as if the very land itself was mourning.”

"What where you to him?" Serana : "The only person who understood how lonely he was"

Change Two word in the Song, The Last Dinosaur, by Nancy Wilson, and it takes on a whole new meaning. Few men have ever done what he has done Or even dreamed what he has dreamed His time has passed There are no more He is the last Dragonborn Few men have even tried what he has tried Most men have failed where he's prevailed His time has passed There are no more He is the last Dragonborn The world holds nothing new in store for him And things that startle you and me Are just a bore for him His spark of light has gone His light grows dim Can there be something left in the world to challenge him? Few men have ever lived as he has lived Or even walked where he has walked His time has passed There are no more He is the last Dragonborn He was the last Dragonborn

2 whole ass years later... This still hits just as hard. A work of art indeed.

Later, the Dragonborn would rise from his grave, confused. This was the first time he opted to wait in-place for more than 24 hours. This was something he would never repeat again

Tsun: Dragonborn… Why are you back here so soon? Dragonborn: I uh… I was peeling a potato with Mehrunes’ Razor for some potato stew and accidentally nicked myself. Tsun: … Dragonborn: …Guess you could say it was a stew to die for, Eh?

There should be a secret thieves guild symbol carved on the grave, like a guild member payed respects after everyone left

Plotwist: He's not actually dead, it's just his game character file hard locked and so he's just been unresponsive since and they assumed he's dead.

Ralof: I mean you no foul...but how exactly did he go? Serana: It was gamble. One that won the battle in the end. I still remember his last words. Ralof: What were they? Serana: " Check this sh*t out"

"When one travels to Skyrim, it is almost a must that they visit the Greybeards, and walk the steps... Yet, near the peak, one can hear an ancient tongue, thrumming across the snow... Rising up and singing. One hears it most strongly near an old gravestone few pay respects to anymore... But my father's father's father's father told many stories of the man/woman that they traveled with... This one thought old J'Zargo's tales, from that old journal, were just stories... Now, standing here, in front of your grave... I get the feeling that they were more than just mere fairy tales..."

I can actually picture all the Daedric princes getting into a big fist fight trying to decide who gets the rights to the dragonborns soul after he made deals with almost every Daedric prince.

Imagine nord dragonborn ending up in the Sovngard and everyone there is like: *"Yo, broooo, you're here again!"*

i'm glad Lydia was there to bury the dragonborn, so that she could let him down one last time

I've probably watched this at least 5 times over the 2 years this came out because it sorta hits me in the feels everytime due to all my playthroughs thank you for this

Even in death the Dragonborn was kept from their greatest treasure, the sweet roll

Bet Serana is regretting not accepting his marriage proposal now.

Plot Twist: They buried a mannequin with the dragon bone armor. The real Dragonborn secretly traveled to Akavir to search for the long-lost Nerevarine.

As the dragonborn laid in his wooden tomb, the sky darkened. As Serana held the last elder scroll, grasped her in hands. Holding back tears as they ran down her soft cheeks, finally feeling something after all this years. She knew only coldness, but when the dragonborn saved her from her curse, she felt alive again. Taking on many adventures with the dragonborn and meeting compains and friends along the way. She still remembers meeting the dragonborns adopted kin just outside falkreath… happy and bellys full, toys that never seem to end ss they layed about in his manor. What she remembers most is the dragonborns love, as dangerous as he was, he was also loving and gentlez Thus showed when she saw the dragonborn feeding his cattle, picking flowers in his garden with “his” kin…but now the kids only weep as she did…As they walked up the summit, hearts heavy they meet the grey beards.The GrayBeards that have not been seen by any bowed and moved aside, for the last time….the snow fell slower as a song of humming surrounded the Throat of the World, anticipating a fight. Serana grabbed her ebony sword, and moved the kids behind her. As the humming grew louder, it was a song. A song of sorrow and happiness, confused Serana frantically looked. Then there, in the sky, the dragons. In all sizes flew in a circle, some landed and behind them was the dragonborn foes… holding hands. Singing for their friend that has left them. For once, all friends and foes held hands for their all morned for their loss.

I loved seeing that both Ulfric and Tullius were there.

All my Skyrim characters be like: Here lies the dragonborn, King of procrastination, Most murderous member of the Dark Brotherhood, Bringer of buckets to the heads of the shopkeepers, Savior of the thieves guild, We will never forget him, although we'll try.

Far into the future a new hero will rise, this hero will ask Paarthurnax, leader of the Greybeards, one simple question “Where can I find this Elder Scroll?” Paarthurnax tells this new hero of it’s location, merely a few metres behind them, at the top of the Throat of the World. The hero walks up to a tombstone simple in its design, not encrusted with jewels or gold, but simply made of stone. Paarthurnax then shouts the phrase Dovah Qahnaarin Alok (Dragon Vanquisher Rise). The ground begin to shake and crack with the strength of 1,000 dragons as a figure draped in dragon bones emerged from the ruined ground. The figure first looked at Paarthurnax then to the hero standing in front of them, the figure calmly handed the hero the Elder Scroll and simply said “Now it’s your turn”

I low key wanna see an alternate version of this where you pick all the evil options rather than the good ones.

Somehow this triggered the inspiration to write a story. Something i havent done in 5 years or so. Thank you for this! This is awesome!

Elsif: "How did he die?" Serana: "Well, he was riding his horse..." Elsif: "uh-huh." Serana: "Then the horse started flying..." Elsif: "Of cour- wait, what?" Serana: "He was so high up and didn't see the Giant on a Dragon coming..." Elsif: "What on Nirn are you on about?!" Serana: "Suddenly, his horse died underneath him and he was plummeting to the ground! And then... *IT* happened." Elsif: "Do I even want to try and gues-?" Serana: *"The world turned bright blue! White nonsensical words everywhere and a simplistic sad face!! A bell rung once with a ding that will haunt my dreams forever!!!* Elsif: "... Isran?" Isran: "His game crashed." Elsif: "Okay, I'm out!"

"It'll be a quick dungeon run. 15 to 20 minutes, tops." Later that day:

This is how it feels starting a new game and retiring your old character. Love the animation!

Me as the dragonborn in their reading my will "I wish for a dungeon to be built full of the most dangerous traps, enemies ,and puzzles alike and at the very end there will be the treasure room holding all of my weapons, armor, and 100,000 Wheels cheese along with my gold enough to make every single hold in Skyrim look poor and at the very center there will be all three elder scrolls placed around all copies of the lusty the argonian maid"

I love the mental image of all of the daedric lords having a tantrum when Akatosh is like, aight he's dead his souls coming with me. Like wtf are they gonna do? Tell him no?

Imagine being so badass you're buried with a fucking elder scroll while both claimants to the throne of Skyrim, the Jarl of Whiterun, the greatest military genius in Tamriel, and the last remaining blades, among others, mourning over your death together. I think this should be the canon way the dragonborn dies. I never liked the wishy washy endings of the other ones, and I think this would be a good way to keep the race, alignment and gender ambiguous while still having a good end. They could even leave it somewhat uncertain, with the grave never being opened, the body, armor and weapons of the Last Dragonborn never shown to the world. It could even be a quest related to the Elder Scrolls in a later game, visiting the tomb of the Last Dragonborn, maybe enshrined with a small temple to Akatosh and pilgrims from across Skyrim and Cyrodiil paying their respects. A lighthouse and a sanctum atop a lonely outcrop in the sea of ghosts, pilgrims with torches and solemn faces lining the arduous walk, reading the steps of the Dragonborn's journey from their crossing from Cyrodiil to their honorable death. And there a solemn red banner of Akatosh flies above the Shrine of the Last Dragonborn, a Knight of the Divines watching the sea in a lonely vigil. It'd be a very interesting and stirring scene, especially compared to the ways you come across the elder scrolls in other games. "Here lies the savior of us all, champion of Akatosh, a symbol for all Tamriel," it would say, "may the Last Dragonborn rest easy knowing that Mundus yet lives."

This is such a cool idea for a story/animation! I don't think I've ever teared up just from the PREMISE behind a video. This game has has such an impact on me, and I've spent so much time in this world. I mean how many games can you say, came out 10+ years ago, and many people are still playing today. RIP Dovakin!
