Tabe I think Chivalry might be the better inspiration, but Dark Messiah is definitely in that ballpark and has a certain fluidity, while Chivalry feels comparatively clunky and slow (but more in how it's put together and its animation flow, not as a fault of the ideas in its design). I wouldn't mind seeing magic spells get a bit more character and _feel_ more distinctive on an individual level, like in Dark Messiah and Bioshock. I'll hold play-style balancing ideas to the post-release modding community. Hopefully there's more versatility in modding capabilities with the next game and fewer hard-coded things to get in the way.

Waterpae Dark Souls combat is better in the third person, and is more solely fun than realistic, what with DWGR flipping and rolling everywhere. *The aforementioned* _Dark Messiah of Might & Magic_ and _Chivalry: Medieval Warfare_ seem more appropriate sources of inspiration for first-person medieval melee.

Waterpae I can't imagine it needing to be much more twitchy than all the aforementioned games. The point is not realism, anyway, but believability (willing suspension of disbelief) and more importantly to add a bit more depth to your combat options with greater risk if you're not as decently skillful, within which I acknowledge DkS is an understandable suggestion. The duels and ganks that break out in a round of Chivalry seem a fair bit anticlimactic as it is. It's not like the kills in these games give you a Final Fantasy-esque reward screen after every kill. To be particularly realistic to the detriment of fun would be to include the rough and tumble grappling and wrestling that could ensue in real single combat, and what's already included in Chivalry and DkS to some gameplay-fair extent are the bouts of attrition by lack of stamina, which is a smidgen more realistic to see among combatants in more thoroughly protective armors. (iirc, Good plate armor doesn't impede the movement of an accustomed wearer, but it certainly tires the wearer more quickly. A combatant could finish off a tired opponent with weapons like stilettos through the visor and other similarly vulnerable areas.) It's also a bit appealing how quickly player characters and enemies die in Chivalry, which DkS can be like at times, but not as consistently (due to deceptively extreme level contrasts and scaling). I'd prefer the dodging maneuvers in Bloodborne (which Chivalry dodges are similar to, but aren't very effectual) more than the constant rolling in DkS. It doesn't need to be exactly like any one particular game. They should take inspiration from fun things that work to their strengths, and one of the big things TES and many a mod strives towards is immersion (role-playing), particularly with a first-person perspective being one of the hallmarks of the series (which is why the diagonal movement animations in Oblivion are nonexistent). Seen the first-person mod for DkS1? DkS doesn't seem to lend too much to the first-person slasher that the others don't already. They can and should still play it, such as to learn to put level scaling enemies and scaling reward weapons to rest.

there is a 2 handed katana but works like a great sword, the problem with skyrim is it has no flowy melee or magic combat, same with the rest of bethesdas games, thats why we now have vr skyrim where you can fight as realistically as you want

Well, that's simple. For high end, keep in mind of 2gb Vram crash and have fun with all the 4k and 2k texture you want. Mid Range, 2k character 1k enviorments. Low end, just stick with skyrim orginal graphics if you're not already playing ultra or 1k everything . If you find yourself losing FPS or not at a FPS you like, get lower texture resolutions and/or dramatically decrease resolutions of shit that doesn't matter like the falling leaves, falling snow, and ash textures. If you're using mods that adds more trees, stay away from high end resolution textures for them since that will hit your performance like a truck.

I know this is old but, I noticed you can set it so that when you two hand a one handed weapon (and the other way around) You can make it so that it still scales with its original skill. So you could do it for say, aesthetics like one handing the ebony blade. at least, thats the only use I found for it, also, two handing a onehanded weapon raises the damage, dark souls style:p

In a later update, they added a bar in the mod menu so you can do just that. It also does the opposite with 1h weapons being wielded in 2h. So a 1h weapon will swing faster in 2h, and a 2h weapon will swing slower in 1h.
