You’ve got to hope Bethesda takes pointers from mods like this. I can’t think of any way this mod lessens the lycanthropy mechanic.

I want someone to make a game (not an Elder Scrolls) based entirely on playing as a werebeast in a modern set rpg. First you make your human character, then you choose your werebeast species, each with it's own unique skill tree and abilities for both their human and beast forms. Werewolves are typically more agile, Werebears are stronger at lower levels, Weresharks can breath underwater, etc. Low level players would obviously have to change completely to get any benefits at all, maybe even having to rely on guns during the day, and would have no choice but to change every night. But higher level players could choose how to fight in entirely different ways. One player may keep a low profile, never changing into their beast form ever again, but retaining incredible senses, speed, and strength as a human, thus barely calling attention to themselves by werebeast hunters. On the other hand another player may willing allow themselves to change every night and just go berserk, being a nigh unstoppable hulk of a werebeast but leaving themselves entirely open as a human. Another player may choose to learn to change during the day and catch the werebeast hunters and other enemies by surprise. While another player could be more adept at commanding packs of animals to fight for them, maybe even commanding many types at once. You could learn different howls and roars that either blast enemies away with sheer volume, or paralyze them with agonizing pitch. Maybe you'd (be like me and) stealthily assassinate your enemies by changing individual limbs at a time on command. Hell, someone might just want to take on the whole game as just a human, learning martial arts, and improving their skills with guns, and affording better equipment that a typical player never could. Maybe, you could even start your own clan of loyal werebeasts and destroy all opposing factions. And of course the most dedicated of players could gain ALL these gifts and make an entire city their own personal hunting ground, like a beastly [Prototype] of sorts. And of course the antagonists would be a secret society of monster hunters. And other famous monsters serve as side bosses and factions. There could be a big dlc campaign about a big name society of vampires moving into the area. And a second even bigger dlc of specifically WEREBEAST hunters.

I feel like the werewolf form is just a panic button for mages.

The whole reason I chose to become a werewolf was to become immune to vampires.

I got the notification, read werewolf mod and immediately thought "I don't need whatever that is, I already use Growl" then I read the full title and laughed out loud! Glad you're covering this gem of a mod from the legend himself Enai Siaion!

I always felt that werewolves should change uncontrollably under the moons, not that totally optional transformations they have in vanilla.

I really hope this means you are doing a series on EnaiSaion’s mods. They add so much to the game and it would really be great to shine a light on what makes the mods so superior.

It's too bad that the Silver Hand are just redressed bandits. Playing as a were beast is fun, but I was always interested in joining the faction that hunts the hunters. The concept of taking up silver to hunt down individuals that may have been directly blessed by the god of the hunt, is an idea that has never failed to get me excited. Imagine that the players introduction to Lycanthropy was that an actual curse placed upon you by Hircine for slaying too many werebeasts. There could be a questline about having to hide your Lycanthropy from your Silver Hand compatriots as you continue to aid them and seek out a cure for yourself. A werewolf that hunts other werewolves.

Lord Hercine seems like a good Dadric Prince to me. You get to be a werewolf who can control your transformations and when you die you get to hunt with him and his followers for all eternity.

I was playing this the other day and realized I was a giant powerful beast hunting butterflies. Hircine would be pleased.

One of my favorite characters to this day is a Werewolf bounty hunter who uses his heightened strength, speed and senses to track and hunt vampires, bandits, and anyone else who threatens the safety of the innocent. I love the Dawnguard aesthetic and the crossbows, so I kitted him to take full advantage of everything the DG has to offer. Archery, Sneak, Restoration and Light Armor, using ambush tactics and stealth to get the drop on enemies, using restoration spells on undead and to heal himself and others, and then having the beast form in his back pocket for stronger foes like vampires and dragons. Very satisfying to play, and made even better by this mod! Definitely gonna have to replay him soon...

Enai Strikes Again! I can't *imagine* playing without a full suite of Enai's mods.

This game just keeps going and going. Guess the only thing that can stop it is the elder scrolls 6 😃

There's no one out there who can hunt the wretched manbeasts, so one must be careful out in Tamriel, for you could end up dying pretty horribly, or worse.

Have to love the small touches to really improve immersion with being able to use perks in the place of the MCM for a few things. Though only thing I would like to see is adding a vampire feed anim when you share the gift, letting your followers immersively feed on your blood. With that being said, love the review but I must get to preparing my load order for carnage. Time to rip and tear the Elves properly. Will need a cannibalism addition as well to benefit from eating human flesh even outside of beast mode. The moons have indeed called, time to howl back.

This is really cool, but I’m still waiting on a lycanthropy mod that lets you turn into any of the other were-creatures. I don’t know, it just always breaks me a little when an Argonian turns into a werewolf. So between the two mods which did y’all prefer more? This one or Moonlight Tales?

I would love to have a mod(s) that adds more random hostile encounters specifically with werewolves, werebears, other werecreatures and the Silver Hand.

Werewolves? Where wolves? Where are these wolves and what do they wear? I want to create the very first lycanthrope who can transform from man to narwhal! Mind of the pointy end will you?

Been using this. Very good, and makes fighting dragons doable thanks to the grounding growl. Only problem was the author refuses to address only Companion werewolves having access to totems - not good if you use an alternate method of receiving the gift. But that's nothing the CK can't fix.

I'm still looking for a mod that make us Hostile and actually attacking the villager without us controlling the character, and it depends on the weaker you are before getting the werewolf perks. If you are stronger you will have full control.

Argonian Werebeast having poison attacks is a Teen Wolf reference I think.

I was playing ac odyssey and watching this in the loading screens, and I did THE werewolf mission of the game.

I feel like in addition to the weapon skills boosting the werewolf damage, at least the Destruction school of magic should have been considered, since most pure caster players will use Destruction skills as their primary damage dealing spells. It may not make much more sense than your magic being turned into stamina, but it makes about as much sense as archery helping your claws.

Growl also helps the ultimate tank beserker build. Be a nord (up to 40% attack at low health), stack all your points into health (up to 910 base health by just leveling), get lycanthropic regeneration (2% health per sec), become a follower of arkay (up to 5% health per sec at low health), get immortal from heavy perk tree (75% damage reduction at 15/20% health or lower). You regen 63,7 health back per second at low health which is an effective, without taking armor/magic resistances, active effects and perks besides immortal into consideration, 254,8 health per second. Being so tanky, you can ignore any form of defense and duel wield one handed weapons for maximum dps. This has got to be the most OP build I have used up until now. Nothing comes close to it.

Imagine playing this with a good vampire overhaul, the Dark Fantasy Overhaul, Unplayable Faction Armors, Open City, and Seriously Dark Dungeons. Like for real gothic horror lol.

That head breaking skill is amazing

The system that we know the werewolves quite famously from in Skyrim got the very short end of the stick when it came to changes in the Dawnguard DLC. Vampires got so much more, on top of unique items that enhances their powers, along with a special sword that ONLY works for them. Edit: And if you look at the full-conversion mod Enderal: Forgotten Stories, it has a completely revamped werewolf system that allows you to transform through special potions, and even enhance your abilities as one, depending on the combo class that involves it. Even changing the appearance of your werebeast form, by either a color change, or even changing into a werebear instead. Favorite ones to look at is one that uses the reclassified Destruction school, where you unleash a shock explosion whenever you transform.

I am rather confused by this Growl- Werebeasts mod. It sounds like an alternative to the mods like Moonlight Tales and Lupinus. Of which both can be meshed together with a simple patch by the way. Based on this video and my more detailed reading of the nexus description of Growl, the mod appears to be share a few features with the other two lycan mods above while excluding others. Growl certainly has a couple of features that the others don't but, its not many. The most notable additions that caught my attention for Growl is each race has a bonus for the werebeast form and the ability to actually turn companions into werebeasts with the option to decide if they will transform in combat or not. Otherwise, though, the praised features like: reverting form, bonuses outside of beast form, being able to use beast form after a 60-90 sec cooldown, more wild werebeast encounters, and several others I'm sorry to say are ALL present between Moonlight and Lupinus. Specifically, Moonlight offers most of the customization while Growl seems to restrict werebeasts to specific mechanics with no stated ability to disable or enable particular ones. Overall I'd say, if you've read through all the features of Growl, and have no problem with the additions/limitations then its a decent substitute werebeast mod. Plus, its definitely guna be much smaller file size comparatively to Moonlight or Lupinus.

Whilst it isn’t brand spanking new, I don’t mind at all because, being relatively new to using mods, I hadn’t tried it out yet. I also get tons of other options and opinions from the comments section, so that I can try other options and see which I like better personally. You guys do it all on the channel, with Builds, Lore and mods. 🥰

I fixed the werewolf underlevel problem by using Lupine and Night of the Wolf. Lupine is a mod much like Growl, but I find it better because it also buffs your human form and Night of the Wolf allows you to become a Werewolf Lord. Giving you all the powers of the beast form without fully transforming into beast form. It gives you a different skin texture resembling fur, elongated finger nails, black and yellow-gold eyes, proximity detection of enemies, increased melee weapon damage, increased movement speed and stamina Regen, Etc... All while still being able to shout, wear armor, use weapons and magic. I like to combine it with the hunting grounds outfit, and lupus the sword of hircine. Add in the hunting grounds mod and you can get other daedric artefacts from hircine including a spear that can call on the Wild Hunt.

I've actually come to like this mod more than Moonlight Tales (and I LOVE Moonlight). While I miss all of the cool alternate skins and some of the more useful perks, Growl improves on lycanthropy better in key ways: Lore-friendly avenues for gaining lycanthropy, racial bonuses, werewolf companions, armor and magic resistance, reduced cooldown, leveling in beast mode... That and it actually gives the Silver Hand a presence and purpose outside of the Companions questline.

So, I use so many population mods. And my Skyrim feels like the Imperial City.

I just tried the mod like a week ago , I could not enjoy it though because moonlight tales is just superb (mix with lupine and its even more awesome) and i been using moonlight tales since it came out , and some features are just missing that i have grown use to

I always wished there was a mod to set up a werewolf pack of your own outside of the Companion's quest line as well as a cavern based home for the werewolf pack to gather. It would be fun to set up a pack, perform quests, have werewolf followers that transform to fight then hunt bandit encampments. Werewolf game play always felt like it could be developed so much more.

actually found this mod one day as i was browsing for new mods, installed it and am completely in love with it. definitely one of, if not my favorite, werewolf mods. checked out your vid to see if there was any new information i could get and as it turns out i might try some other races like a breton or a high elf...

i like the idea of playing as bruce banner, an intelligent and peaceful wizard who has a dark side he loses control of.

Hear me out on this: A quest related mod that does all of these things but grants better control over transformations. To start the quest you sleep outside in the wilderness and Hircine comes to you in a dream and you go on a dream quest to become a werewolf. Over time by completing quests and rituals for Hircine your reward is greater control and more powers and abilities. Say you start off like in vanilla but you also transform during phases of the moon makingbeinga werewolf harder. This gives reason to complete the quests. So eventually you'll become a true acolyte of Hircine and have the same control as a vampire lord. You can transform and revert form at will, a transformation has no time limit and no cooldown. Imo the crappiest thing about being a werewolf is that to stay a werewolf longer you have to be constantly killing and feeding on things. Sometimes I just like having that control that the vampire lord gives me.

Basically do yourself a favour and download every one of EnaiSiaion's mods.

Your in the forest at night and you hear that roar, then suddenly it's coming at you! 😂 I'm liking the werewolf videos recently 👀 for no obvious reasons... Also I know it's hard to make animation for mods with these old rigs and models but I do just wish some werewolf mods would actually add a proper howl... Not a roar a wolf howl, I don't know how lore friendly that is but I'd love a howl dam it 😂 just lift the werewolfs head up and move it's mouth boom easiest animation ever ha ha

Enai's mods are great to enchance skyrim's gameplay. A must have in any of my playthroughs.

Skyrim Players: Vampire has so much content and mechanics but the werewolf has less content and less mechanics rip to werewolf and vampire sadly got all the glory.

Thanks for covering this mod, it looks great. Now I'm just waiting for some to make a standalone werewolf customizer mod (aesthetic). Staring consider taking up modding and doing it myself.

One of the things I wish was available in Skyrim would be a wider variety of forms available for lycanthropy. Maybe even have some system where the PC’s race has an effect on which form of lycanthropy they can be afflicted with (i.e. Khajiit can become some kind of were-saber cat, Argonians can become a were-gator, etc.) It’d help add some variety, even if it’s just a purely cosmetic thing.

I am 100% a fan of decreasing/eliminating fall damage as a werebeast; but i would add a stagger effect that occurs after a certain distance and last longer the higher you fall from. All around great addition.
