I stopped by and Mark gave me that Skywagon history lesson four years ago. Now I’ve owned my 180J for the last three. Thanks Mark, great stuff as usual, please keep it coming.
I was told by a well respected shopowner in AK when I was buying our ‘71 185E a number of years ago that the switch to the two-piece turtleback, around the beginning of the F’s was because of a quality control issue when Cessna took the experienced guys off the Skywagon line to build the Citations. He mentioned that some F models had crooked rivet lines resulting in the E’s having the best build quality. Not always, but if you look carefully at certain aircraft you can occasionally see the point he was making.
Mark you know your Aircraft and you have really gave me more information about the changeover in fuel tanks on the 180-185s and this also refers also to the 182s
maybe stop by a rebuild shop with one completely apart to see the real differences, or better yet rebuild one yourself instead of taking salesman talk as gospel
This is a guide and is correct. No-one has the 53's to 81 180's and the 61 to 85 185's apart in a rebuild shop to see with all their mods. But thank you. Plus, I'm not selling that plane I have already sold it, twice. It is information to guide people that do not know these differences and they are all real.
How would stopping by a rebuild shop help me see the year model differences? Please point out where Mark went wrong on anything he said. Or, tell us where in the video he tried to sell a plane.
