Very true very well Said very true for example in the past few years we had the great pleasure of seeing Danish and Swedish dramas on TV with English translation the language is irrelevant just like these songs the production and writing and acting shines through hopefully we will continue to see our Danish Swedish friend and of course our own tg lurgen

Another win...Everyone should be proud of the effort put in & the results gotten out from the singers, the dancers & those that helped set-up, run & break-down the equipment. With all that goes on in the world, it helps to see young people working for a common good, to bring joy to others...If anyone ever doubt themselves, show them this & remind them that with the right idea, real effort & a team that has their back, they can accomplish great things AND regardless of the outcome, they should still try...AND YES, in this (yet another) example, they did a beautiful job.

@@katie323 The Irish lyrics don't say the same thing the original English lyrics do. It was asked that the Irish lyrics be translated into English so they can be understood by someone who knows no Gaeilge.

The lyrics aren't an exact translation of the original -- it's about their summer session being over and being sad to say goodbye to everyone. So there is no tying to kitchen chairs. :)

I would have agreed at first--slan abhaile doesn't mean "hallelujah"--but they're singing a language that used to be illegal. Up with bad translations!

As much as I like this version of this song, I'm a bit confused as to why they would use "slan abhaile" instead of saying "hallelujah". Especially since slan abhaile means "safe home" or used to wish someone a "safe journey home".
