So, we know that metal washers work... but what about a ton of rubber SAE washers? I wonder how long some 1/2" x 2" ones would last. Might make for a better ride, but I think it would settle a TON over time. Any ideas?
I honestly think that they would be done for way sooner than later, bump stops alone break down fast when thats all thats holding up the car so i don't think rubber washers would do any good, might be worth a shot though!!
yes but wouldn't recommend as the spring is what holds the car up normally, the shock only helps with dampening and shouldn't really be used as the whole shock/spring (washer) combo
Can you do this on separate shock and spring assemblies. I have a 13 speed3 and my spring sits in a perch next to my shock, so if I did this I wouldn't have a spring there at all. Is that too unsafe? The entire rear weight would be on the shock when it's meant to be on the shock + the spring
U can although I wouldn't recommend washers at all. Springs control the height of a vehicle while the shocks control the ride quality. Save and get nice coils
I have the same shock and spring set up, that I can't seem to find stiffer springs for its slammed but wheels hit fenders when I hit bumps can I keep springs but add washers with the bump stop on the shock to just stop the shock from compressing all the way to stop my wheels hitting fenders?
What’s the size of your washers bro? Tryna do a similar thing on my Veloster, running on bc racing. Just gunna slap on the washers, stiffen up the ride, and hope for the best lol
@@dfitzwm it’s cool bro, thx for replying though. Me and my homeboy already did it, 27 washers on the valve, 3/4 of and inch bc BC racing has some thick strut valves. Thing is stupid slammed. Can’t wait to see y’all at the shows when this thing is done
