@@ShumuStudios ha, yea I’m drilling it into your brain!! Much repetition! I guess I’d rather have too much than not enough. That’s how I felt with some of the other slash RU-vid guys, they went too fast and didn’t repeat. Made it a lot more work to learn.

Yea man, I’m with you. I have always really been into blues playing so phrasing, bends, vibrato style, “feel”, and all that is definitely important to me and something I continue to take time to work on. I only starting decoding more fast hammer - pull offs / legato over the last couple of years, so it’s more new to me. I definitely try and spend time working on both. Was watching a SRV style lesson last night and we really into the feel and trying emulate some of those bends and vibrato. Love it. 🎸😎

@@lets_rock_it i understand, sometimes it’s a slow process. I’ll have periods where I’ll feel a made some significant progress and then periods where I feel a bit stuck. When that happens I try sometimes to just work on the basics and make sure they are solid, like bends, vibrato, more basic blues phrases. Sometime it helps to consider paid subscriptions to certain sites. I have definitely found some that have helped me a lot. For example Brett Papa has a paid course on mixing major and minor pentatonic licks. He plays many licks that are very much like slash and I have gotten tons of licks and ideas from him. I’d say I have learned the most from that video. I also have some vids I purchased from Jakob slash, and while I think they are overall worth it for the price, I find them a bit frustrating because I personally think he goes too fast and adds a lot of variation too quickly. His playing is excellent and obviously super slash like, but man I have to be in the mood to watch his vids, because it’s just a lot of work to follow what he’s doing. He did make me a custom vid that was better and a bit more like the kid of vids I post. But yea man, I’d recommend Brett papa mixing major and minor pentatonic. It’s for high production quality and it’s structured very nicely. He takes pre written phrase and licks and repeats them, breaks them down into chunks. If Jacob slash or somebody could do more slash vids in that format I would improve a lot faster. Sorry for the long message ha. I guess I’m saying I understand what you mean. Just stick with it. I also have a monthly sub to “learningguitar.now.com” which is a blues site that is also good for stepping up your foundational blues licks. Thanks man and good luck 🎸🤘🏼👍🏼

@@slashtrio yeah i dont feel stuck for a long but i have to keep practicing every song i have learned, cause if i dont i start to forget them, so i kinda switch between ,basics,songs and the Slash like style depending on my mood i could be more ahead if i were more disciplined but my goal is just to have fun. Thanks for the sugestions but i would prefer to take personal lessons instead of online lessons. I tot know what you feel,some of Gsharp videos are like that takes a lot of time to figure exactly what hes doing in the most we can get the idea but i think its important to learn it correct so then we can grab that and make something ours. Thats why iam a loyall follower of your channel and not those guys like Lazlo and Jakob and few others i dont even watch to their videos right now.Again nothing against anyone who spends their time making a video to teach to play guitar but iam just not their audience, the ratio, time consuming/learning is more then i want to spend, enough of frustating feeling of watching them suposely teaching ,and iam like wtf is he doing?and in some videos at the end of the video i know as much as i did before i watch the video. This is why now i only watch videos like yours where i really can learn something. Like for instance you last video i already have the lick now i just need to work on the speed and make it fluid.Practice practice and more practice... Dont worry with long message we just chating all good ✌ Once again thank you for all your videos that help me so much thats why i have you and Gsharp as the goats of Slash playing teachers,Gsharp was the 1st and for a while the only 1 i knew and you are the best teaching it 🤘 Take care bro ✌

@@lets_rock_it thanks man. That’s great that you don’t feel stuck. I have personally gotten away from trying to learn other people’s songs or solos note for note, I really like to improvise. So I just try to consume as many licks and techniques from others players as I can and Jair incorporate them into my own playing. I do still sometimes play along to GnR songs and I enjoy playing some of the classics (night train, rocket queen) almost note for note, but more often I just improvise my own slash style solo over top of it. I think that’s really the goal for many, even slash often plays his solos quiet differently every time. I’m glad my vids are helping you though. I actually did another one tonight but I might wait a few days before posting it. I think it might be a pretty decent one (hopefully). Maybe I’ll screen shot some of the Brett Papa stuff I’m talking about and post a link here. I’m telling you man, it’s like what I do but just higher quality. It’s almost as good as taking an actual lesson. Keep at it my friend 🎸👍🏼

Hey man, idk of you've already done this but could you do a video on Major soloing in slash's style, I've been playing so much in minor that when it comes to Major i feel like I'm lacking a bit. I saw the Major/minor mixing but i was hoping you could show is more pure major licks
@slashtrio
@slashtrio 6 месяцев назад
Hey man, thanks for the great question, and hope you have found these little lessons to be helpful. I understand the feeling of being trapped in minor pentatonic and I completely was until about a year or two ago. So what I have learned, is the that the average blues/blues rock guitarist has learned to identify the major notes within the minor boxes, then you can kind of target the major notes as either accents or if you're really trying to emphasize major, and you will resolve on some major notes. That is something I do most of the time to mix the two scales. The other thing that is pretty easy to understand is that the major scale is always just a few frets down from Box one minor pentatonic and basically has the same shape, and you can even use most of your stock minor licks, but they will sound more major and have that southern rock kind of vibe. I am going to attach a couple of videos below that talk about this and should be very helpful. Thanks! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HAdwKa3Hgec.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m1D8ZmRPDmE.html

@@TheBubbarox cool man, yea I do the best I can. I don’t have video editing skills at this point so it’s kind of one take iPhone vids. It’s not as easy as it might seem, at least or me, to map out how much detail vs less detail. I have found that many people have different preferences and learning styles so there really is no one way to go about this. Some people want very short videos with no talking, some want me to call out every note like tabs, some don’t mind the long form. Ultimately I decided to just kind of do what comes natural to me and those who like it will watch and those who don’t can move on ha. I’m not in this for money or anything, it’s purely a hobby. I have gotten lots of nice feedback from guys saying it’s helped them which inspires me to keep doing it. Thanks

@@TheBubbarox cool man, I’m not saying you’re advice isn’t good or worth considering, I’m just trying not to overthink it too much. That’s what I tend to do naturally which leads to me not doing as many lessons as maybe I could. But yea, I’ll continue to try and find the right balance that works. I have never used tabs and never even really grew up thinking of the fret board in terms of numbers, so I’m not so great about calling out frets as I play. For me personally as a learner, I primarily want to see the licks up close, slowed down, and some repetition. Then maybe talk about how specific licks are just ways of opening doors to other similar licks and phrases. I have watched countless gsharp, laszlo, and Jakob slash vids. I wound get frustrated sometimes because they sound kind of fly over down pretty complex stuff too quickly, or maybe add variation too soon, or maybe the cam was too far away and I count not make out what they were doing. My frustration with that was in part my motivation to makes these lessons. I wanted to make some that were more accessible to varying skill levels and to be more clear. Unfortunately I’m not as good as those guys but good enough to help some people.
