These type of slates for me are the best in the world, so thick and durable, we re slated our house in 2009 but the orignal slates had been on since 1864

What do you call the tool you are using with your hammer?
@onpointplastering
@onpointplastering 5 лет назад
@@dannyiwan7566 you get 2 types of slate hammer 1 that nails the slate in place,and holes the skate 2nd type is the type I'm using I know it as a German slate hammer this 1 nails the slate,holes the slate but also you can cut the slate with this 1 I just call the thing I'm cutting on a cutting iron might be known a a zax in some places or that's the proper name for the point on the slate hammer hope that helps m8 thanks for watching👍 the zax is the proper name for a slate hammer/knife tool just looked it up lol

Is that a freund hammer?, do you use battons. Great work
@onpointplastering
@onpointplastering 3 года назад
Battens are required when the roofs open rafters or your using fiber cement slates also depends where you are working as down in England it's mostly open rafters in Scotland there is usually OSB board used for tiling and sarking when its slates I know it as a German slating hammer

@onpointplastering

Believe me it has cover and I have no doubt about it
@deanbarber5576
@deanbarber5576 3 года назад
Where’s the cover ? It’s underneath the 2nd course abound it that’s where you get headlap and it less than 2 inch from the centre of the slate basically right in the water channel it’s a leak
