I have played drums for 41 years now and this guy makes me tired just watching him. Gotta love his energy! Bobby Dall of Poison once said he never set out to be a great musician, his goal was to be a rock star. This dude has made it.
This guy makes drumming fun. It's hilarious. I love it! It fits perfectly with 80's rock, which is silly and fun and pretty dopey anyway. If you dislike this guy's drumming style... you're too uptight.
A concert is meant to be ENTERTAINING and ENJOYABLE. This man, a former janitor, fulfills this and he is a rather EXCELLENT drummer who happens to have a rather unorthodox, high energy style and ENJOYS his " JOB" to the max in order to entertain the audience. Perhaps the haters out there would prefer a nice prim and proper boring Mormon as a drummer who's sole focus is on " Tradional Technique"? If that's the case, then watch the "Lawerence Welk" show and ENJOY!!
It is drummers like this that made me start playing. Showmanship IS a great part of 80s music. He ROCKS it. There is no taking away that he is an excellent player. I cannot tell if this is Blas Elias or not (the original Slaughter drummer) who was voted greatest up and commer by Modern Drummer. And he was truly. I need to look this up, unless one of our buds here will let me know? Thanks so much brothers.
No, this isn't Blas Elias who's now drumming for Blue Man Group. This is Zoltan Chaney on drums with Slaughter. Zoltan and Slaugter bassist Dana Strum also play in the Vince Neil Band.
I'm a drummer who found these videos today, I can't stop watching, fuck the haters, he's where he is for a reason, and it's not because he sucks believe me..
I met Zoltan at a TX rally in Somerville, TX about 12 yrs ago or so. It was cool to see my old Pearl kit set up in front of his back line show kit. This dude constantly works on his technique. Zoltan is my number one favotite rock drummer performer. I watch a lot of his vids. I try to take a lot of that energy into my performance.
@@TheCatzMeowMix I wonder what would happen if Blas really wanted to be back in the band, if it were anyone other than Zoltan I'm sure it would happen. Because he's different than most drummers and the fact he's so entertaining would make it difficult to just let him go, I don't see it happening.
ZOLTAN!!! Legend. Anyone complaining needs to kick tires cause this dude is half the reason these 80s guys can still tour and have it not be a snore fest.
Bro, twirling sticks is cool and all but he plays things that totally do not make the song sound good.. he bashes the ride , hi hat and crash on almost every hit where it’s not keeping with what the song is about.
As a young and up and coming drummer I met him when he came through my area with Lois Lane in the late 80’s. I paid him a compliment and he was the rudest, most condescending, pos I’ve ever met in the music industry. I literally wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire. Hey Zoltan, digest excrement and cease to exist.
While I don’t necessarily care for this “style” of drumming, Dude brings it and that is undeniable. As far as your “keeping time” comment, say that about Neal Peart or Danny Carey and see how their band mates react.
HOLY S×H#I@T Zoltan Chaney crazy good and I mean that in the best way 😳! Mr. Mark Slaughter should be thanking his HOLY whatever he believes in for this guy. Excellent!!!!
Haven't got to see him play with Slaughter, but I did get to see him play with Vince Neil a couple years ago at Rocklahoma. Entertaining to say the least. He does it all the time, but he had the Animal head on for half the set.
I thought i loved this song before this view but holy shit. I love seeing a true believer throw his craft like a hot knife thru butter..fuc8jhop;jer/;ing BRAVO my brother... amazing...
While entertaining, it does distract from the band as a whole. Kind of like Juan Croucier from RATT. But each to their own, he is paid for the gig and god bless him.
He's with Baldini also, Lynch ??? Also, Heaven and Hell. Evanescence drummer and guitarist??? Band called Kingdom Pit - Tommy Aldrige set a very high bar - Way Kewl...
Loved Zoltan from when I first saw him with Vince Neil. I could watch this all day. May I ask where you find your drum tech gigs? Looking to find a place to start out
Mark Nichols man honestly I’m more of a drummer than a drum tech. I think being a drummer makes you a good drum tech. I’ve just lucked out on the few tech gig I’ve gotten. Met Z from doing a couple of shows with him in my band Lynam.
David Lynam oh wow good to know my man thanks so much. I’m a drummer of 9 years..took lessons off a guy named Chad Szeliga who is a local. Hopefully I find some place to start! Thanks dude
Definitely a great drummer, but Jeesh! He auditioned for my band back in the 80’s, in Birmingham, AL at a club called Louie Louie’s. I think he only played one song and we of course were impressed. When we discussed pay, he wanted to be paid double what everyone else was paid. I had to decline that. Great drummer and showman though.
Ive always heard, If you cant do it, bedazzle them with bullshit. The songs he plays are so so so so simple. But for some reason he wants to have epileptic fits while playing.
@Brian Moore... I’m Epileptic... but also have MS at the same time. I can see what you say... but still wish you wouldn’t have made that type of comment in referring to Epilepsy. I know you meant it in a different context... but I and the people who have it still don’t like it. I think you can see why.
If most of the negative comments are coming from fellow drummers then the only conclusion I can draw from the comments are most drummers are sticks up their ass assholes. People pay to see a SHOW and he's delivering exactly that. Don't like his style? Focus on someone else. It's not hard. I'm guessing not ONE paying customer walked away from this show thinking 'man, that drummer is over the top.'
