What's funny is watching her natural reaction to the song. THIS is how us 80's kids felt EVERYDAY! We got this experience for over a decade with great bands, & great music coming out what seemed like everyday. Imagine one day it's Slaughter, then Warrant, then Polson, then Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, or Def Leppard. I could go on, & on. The difference between this music & other era's is it almost always made you feel happy & excited to be alive & listening. (It still has that effect on me today) and even the songs that made you sad, made you think about something. Great Music! What a Great Time it was to be alive!

Mark Slaughter was amazing back during this time. He really had a voice that could make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when he did stuff like this. Before he formed his own band, he sang and toured with the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Check out the video/single "Love Kills" with him on vocals. That's another one where the chorus gives me chills, and his melodic sensibilities really come through. He does some great harmony parts in that.

The 80's... We - those of us who got to experience all that music in real time (I was a teenager) - had it good! I just don't think that at the time we really realized how good we had it! Thankfully, the music lives on, and we can take a trip back any time we desire. BTW I had a not-so-nice experience with Mark Slaughter... LOL... but I've since gotten over it. After a concert, the band members were on one side of the stage barricade, signing autographs, with a huge crowd of fans on the other side. I handed Mark my hat that I was wearing (baseball cap), and he signed it with a marker, and then, looking straight at me, he reached way over to his right, around the corner of the barricade, and handed the hat to another fan! There was no way I could get it back in such a huge crowd. I was hugely disappointed. But like I said, that was more than three decades ago, and I finally got over it last year. 🤣

@@NEbluefire That's really quite OK. 😃 I brought this up only to have a light-hearted moment. (It's why I put "LOL" in there). It was so long ago and I was a teenager and it was unpleasant at the time, but now 30+ years later it's a now-funny story I share sometimes when Slaughter comes up. With that said, I could probably find a different way to word things, or at the very least add that I have heard from various people over the years (with you being the latest) that Mark is a very nice person, because my intention is never to give him a bad name.

Mark Slaughter was discovered by the bass player Dana Strum to sing for Vinnie Vincent Invasion (Vinnie was a former member of KISS). When VVI fizzled out Dana helped Mark put his own band together. Mark is a fantastic talent.

@@m.vondrake5534 Right on. I hadn't heard that one. Desmond had a record deal out in New York in the mid 1970's. I believe his first successful colab was with KISS in '79. Did Dana introduce him to people out west?
@m.vondrake5534

@@machupikachu1085 negative. Desmond was writing songs under contract but he was still struggling until Dana pointed Paul and Gene in his direction. Paul was writing with Holly Knight who was dating Anton Fig at the time. Dana was mostly in L.A. at the time. Dana sent some of Desmond's songs to Gene first but Gene felt the songs were not gritty enough. From what I had read, Paul got Desmond's address from Dana then Paul and Holly just showed up at his door, took him for a cup of coffee followed by a lot more coffee and they wrote a bunch of songs. The record executives at the time would not let Holly get songwriter credit but they made sure she got full pay with proper royalties and they did the same thing with Desmond. Making sure he understood the business side of what he was doing so the labels wouldn't continue to railroad him. Dana kept Desmond busy in the studio when Des got to L.A. Tho they really only wrote songs together while they were writing with KISS members, Desmond and Holly wrote most of the songs you hear in the 80's even tho they didn't always get writers credits because the label or the artist had clauses in their contracts against it. KISS did too but because Gene and Paul had written a song or two for other artists that refused to give them credit, they changed their policy and made sure any collaboration got the credit they deserve. Dana discovered Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Jake E. Lee, Frankie Banali, and a host of others. Dana has mentioned that even tho members of KISS that had left seamed to bicker in the media of the time, they actually spent a lot of time together and in similar circles. Any original member of KISS was always welcome to visit the studios they were recording in. They usually crossed paths at Electric Ladyland in NYC. Believe it or not, the members of Van Halen were also always welcome and they often shared the same dress rehearsal warehouse before going on tours and Desmond was usually at the rehearsal studio with KISS.

@@machupikachu1085 something for you if you're a Vinnie Vincent fan, in the studio Vinnie would surround himself with stacks of amps and just go. Recording the solo's for several songs at once with only a minute or two between the songs. If he wanted a retake, he just held up a finger and started again. The studio would be so loud the AC would shut off. There wasn't enough sound suppression to contain it. Paul Stanley told Dana "that's what you can do when you have KISS money to work with."

Slaughter came at the end of the "hair band" era-where the bands matured both their looks and sounds. I had this when it came out (showing my age here). Some great bands from that time were Slaughter, Cinderella, Tesla, Steelheart and ESPECIALLY Badlands (if you want INCREDIBLE vocals...Ray Gillen from Badlands-Dreams in the Dark or Winter's Call). This came out in 1990, right before everything went grunge.

So great to see your reactions again!! This song took me back some 30+ years. Got to see Slaughter live once as they were an opener for Kiss on their Hot in the Shade tour back in '90. With you enjoying the romp in 80s music, even if they're not really what many would refer to as "glam metal/rock", you should check out the Canadian band, Triumph. Canada's second greatest musical export after Rush. Rick Emmet has some serious pipes. I'd suggest starting with either "Lay it on the Line" or "Magic Power". Several of their tracks (not those two) feature their drummer in the primary vocalist as well. Stay happy and healthy!! Looking forward to more of your great content!

I was into "serious" heavy metal at this point in the '80s. I secretly loved this band, Mark Slaughter was a great vocalist, but at the time I would never have let on to my friends. It's strange in hindsight that that was a thing, but they would have derided me unmercifully for liking this stuff. I wonder if it's still as much of cliquey type thing for kids now, but back than if you wore a Slayer shirt around you couldn't also like enjoy "lame" music... I could JUST get away with liking punk music, but hair metal was out...
