Yes sir. It is possible. When we are at anchor, there are a lot of ways. Azimith Amplitude Light house bearings. Also, since the ship is stable, the errors found will be much more accurate. Regards.

No sir, the ship is turning only at high rates during the change of tides. Even then, the bearing is going to remain the same, since the true north is never going to change. Even when our ship's head turns, the compass will turn accordingly, to maintain true north as the standard direction. Hence, you won't have an issue while taking bearings. Sir, all slaves will have adjustment screws. Generally in the case of steering Gyro, most of the times i have found the off switch and the adjustment by auto pilot setter. Different ships have different methods. Basically, its similar to any slave. You will be provided with a means to adjust it to MASTER GYRO heading after power is off, and then bring back the power, by which it will repeat the heading of the master.
