I'd be more surprised by the defect win, but he got carried by echo form and snecko eye. Having an artifact to cancel biased, then doubling glacier constantly is pretty much ALWAYS gonna win, even more so when you double a defrag with it. I'm still impressed that he managed another win so quickly, but he never got punished for his misplays and terrible decisions.
@@iami3rian394 It's hard to disagree with this. An echo form that can comfortably be played in almost every hallway fight due to snecko eye is a powerhouse. But look at it this way: It's hard to imagine him passing up on any form of frost in future runs and I consider that a monumental victory.
@@penguindrummer252 it'll be a noon, for sure, but his take away from this _won't_ be "wow, I won with huge orb focus and +10 focus. I suppose that's a powerful deck" It'll be more like "frost focus! That's how ya do it!" Which means he will have learned essentially nothing. Nothing about draw and snecko eye being powerful, nothing about card order, nothing about not ending turns with energy and cards to play.... Just "we won with glacier, so frost orbs are the greatest thing ever." That could definitely be bad as well. Hopefully he at least will have finally learned that defense is important.
@@iami3rian394 My guess would rather be that he might tunnelvision on frost focus too much and try to mold every deck into this exact one right here when there are other options that might be better on a future run but we'll have to see about that. For all I care "frost orbs are the greatest thing ever" isn't really that much of a falsehood unless he takes it too far because frost orbs are consistently the biggest missing link in his decks.
He's going to say it's not always a good idea but we know he formed the habit. Just like he says that using orbitals in Isaac is not always a good idea.
I was thinking get busted crown, he had a solid deck after the second act, personally i prefer the ability to smith than having extra options for cards. But once I saw he was pulling echo form, glacier, panacea, biased I knew it was an A20 win.
The real MVP here is the clockwork in the final shop, allowing bias cognition to be played on the first turn, but that was still very well played from ya boi ryans part, lets goo

Posting this before I watch the ep NL you are an inspiration in many ways. I haven't played Slay the Spire in a while, never cared much to try ascension beyond 3 or 4. But just yesterday I opened the game back up for more runs. I'm having fun with it again, I've picked up new tricks by watching your good plays and your bad plays. I'm embracing some zany moves and watching them pay out. Rock on you crazy Egghead.

I didn't account for being carried by panacea, echo form and snecko eye. Especially snecko eye. He just undervalues it so much, but cancelling biased and doubling glacier isn't really EVER gonna lose. His misplays and poor decisions only help illustrate that.

It took many episodes of heart ache and suffering but we've reached the top of this uphill battle. It's unfortunate there's another hill adjacent with the Silents name on it, I have no doubt he'll struggle because it's just a completely different beast. I'm also very upset episode 569 couldn't be a landmark episode. So close to greatness.

That snecko eye was ambitious. Not bad mind you, as long as he survives act 2. He did it, so this is probably another win eh? It's hard to be mad. Does this mean he will actually beat A20 with all three characters in one week? Is this christmas? He also took a coolheaded and that honestly just made me feel alive. Now please never play defect without frost again. Nothing's more beautiful than a combat robot with 6 ice balls floating ominously around it. Especially if they block for 10 each. I like him doubling down on powers against the awakened one. You don't beat that thing by preventing it from scaling alongside you you just gotta scale better than it does.
