At least Xrd’s Slayer was slow as fuck in neutral, and ate shit against all rounded characters like Ky or Sin. Now that everybody else is just as slow (even goddamn Chipp is closer to Slayer than himself from XX/Xrd), Slayer feels even more ridicolous.
@@whitestripe484 Though Strive Slayer is also the slowest he's ever been, lacking both BDC Mappa and Footloose Journey to close the gap. He can't dashblock. All he can really do is either walk at you or commit to a Mappa or airdash in, pretty much. Not like he's helpless in neutral, but it's definitely one of his most glaring weaknesses against characters that outrange him. That and his defense. Neither of which matters if he actually hits you, of course.
@@whitestripe484 Slayers high damage made more sense in Xrd. He had to actually fish for those counterhits otherwise his combos were limited. Strive Slayer doesn't even need to fish for counter hits, he gets rewarded regardless.

try jumpin masters hammer on reaction it comes out a lot slower than the other follow ups so as long as you're not stuck in block stun you can jump it and punish
you can jump master's hammer and low, jump loses to pilebunker and gets air guardcrushed by overhead (basically back to square 1) usually i try to just pay attention to whatever the slayer is picking and either jump or block overhead, though this is an admittedly oversimplified guide to dealing with slayer its worked for me well since 99% of his player base do not have the brain cells to use all of the tools at their disposal
Honestly I don't think constantly jumping against slayer is that bad of an idea, considering his ground game is a bit uhh, absurd as I call it, while his 6P isnt as busted as previous iterations
@@alejandrogp6168that is a risk, but only if they can position themselves under you to threaten that. The way Hotashi is doing it with Bridget is pretty safe and makes trying to 6P her iffy.
Yea they really gotta tone it down. He’s like goldlewis but if you gave goldlewis the speed of a character like sol. He, even more then goldlewis, just has too much damage. He will get 1 confim and that will literally just kill your entire hp bar. Not to mention he also has the 100% tension super that just kills you
This might be controversial but i actually think that those two things need to stay, they're absolutely the most integral part of slayer. What i think needs to be toned down is the stupid reward on k mappa hitting. That shit used to be like +0 ON HIT why does it give a knockdown and so much corner carry, it makes his neutral too good for what he does.
Balance aside I love how his 2H is a mirror of Nago’s DP. One is a low crush, the other is a low profile, one is an overhead the other is a low, one is a normal and the other is a special… Just love the design parallels like that
Im finally able to play fighting games again after having too shit a connection for awhile and I really am not having any fun with strives current balance. The damage is still just too damn high you just have no time to actually play the game you just explode instantly from most characters basic combos
being a rampant xrd player allows me to watch strive players suffer from afar, it's absolutely wondrous to see what gets dropped on them each new patch
@@sandwichxiiidl 2P beats all 4 follow ups. PB hits before you press it so you just block PB and combo him. They can delay too but it's a decent option. After lvl 4 whiff a 20-22 total button (5K or smth) into grab, it beats everything except pb (you get CHd)

Nope, I personally think slayer is fun as hell to watch, Bigg Damage and Pliebunker loop will always be fun to watch, also there's a lot of weird counter you can pull out with dandy step cross up, also pro play in ggst can't be any worse than femboy meta, where everyone just cube spamming and who ever get to have 50% bar first basically win the game.
Are you kidding? Slayer is the most honest character on the roster: he is 100% up-front about wanting to make it quick so he can get back to his wife and laying all the damage out toward that goal.
