This is a really rough matchup, as Bridget I've fought some really tough ABAs but that was clearly the other player being a lot better than me rather than the character
I wanna main ABA so bad but I only really play with one person and she ONLY plays Bridget and I hate playing the matchup. Glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with this matchup
Heyo, Lab monster here bringing you some data from the lab... i use jump d as normal aba simply to change positions in neutral (even without airdashing), works like a charm since her other jump normals can be crouched and it makes her harder to pin down (the move has like no recovery but kindof a dookie hitbox ngl). Its great at baiting antiairs and normals i can Haul and Heed under. that and I danzai alot whenever i cancel 5h into Changing and Swaying. if they jump its anti air hitbox is actually massive. Also important to note getting touched while in moroha is a death sentence so i try not to even block or play patent at all ... I either armor through it with danzai or go for f.s. Her f.s is goated as hell in moroha, it combos into 2h very consistantly and she gets her mix from it, not to mention is has a disjoint just like hs. Her 2h probably goes alot farther than you would think during moroha. Most of the time I just go straight into the mix (c.s or f.s, 2h) instead of staggering since thrs usually no gaps. i either do OH, LOW OH, or LOW LOW danzai to keep my turn (the second low puts them airborn so you get a combo). From what it appears, grabbing during moroha might not be even worth it, it takes alot of time off her clock and her mix is already godlike. Just some tips i picked up in the lab, happy hunting.
sidenote, ive just discovered how absolutely broken her projectile super is in moroha mode ... it jails into c.s wherever you are on the screen (the super is +49 on block, thats nuts)... so that means free guaranteed mix-up. it might even be better not to super on wall splat. the hard knockdown gives your opponent a chance to wake up with super or a reversal, but doing the projectile super prevents them from doing anything cuz it guard crushes. its actually nasty
is this the Hotashi from blazblue? Edit: after I saw like 2 or 3 videos on day 2 of this mu. I was convinced this was actually ABA's worst matchup despite Bridget being supposedly a "setplay" character and not a true zoner.
"Setplay" is a pretty broad term that covers multiple archetypes tbh. The only thing that unifies "setplay" characters, is their ability to abuse and/or reliance on set-ups.
@@RanomTrixie his zoning is still weak and the ABA can still dash-block to close the gap, even tho close range is usually where HC is the most dangerous, which means the issues will mostly come from escaping mix pressure
@@HellecticMojo I mean to play as. She's already really heavy on "guess and pray" neutral as it is but BWA lets her take long range 5H combos/pressure at least and it seems to me like WWA would just make her even more reliant on guess-and-pray strategies. I guess some would answer with "that's better than not getting to play at all," but it sounds like it would make her round robberies feel un-earned and I feel like that would take away the char's appeal. At least for me.
