My legs hurt just listening to Master Lombardo... Dave and Charlie Benante are two of the best at throwing down huge double bass.. like a Great Wall of drums..
gene hoglan and eloy casagrande are terrific double bass bomb master and many other than nobody know their names, the new bands appear among them is born animals that will stand out as well as their technique.
There’s just something special about saves drumming in slayer , he made Paul’s song sound better when he played them, Paul’s great , just not right for slayer .
He did it with SS too. He makes every band he plays in sound better. That’s like the ultimate goal of a drummer and he embodies that shit. Living legend.
This is the REAL slayer. When they shit on Dave in 2013 in Australia is when slayer truly ended ( repentless is Tom and Kerry’s album, it’s not a slayer album)
He went to his dressing room to get ready to go on to perform at an open air festival in Australia, only to find a letter on his dressing table from the slayer management team saying, your services are no longer needed and your 'employment' with the band is over as of now. John dette went on stage that day and performed the set ,as well as playing the whole anthrax set shortly before or after ( I can't quite remember) Dave Lombardo had a forensic lawyer and accounting computer go through all the financial records of the band since his return in 2001 or 2002 , and basically it was discovered that himself and Tom araya had been getting paid as employees of slayer and not members, Tom was all set to take slayer management and Kerry king ( he had a different deal) to court with Dave Lombardo , so they could get the money that they were screwed out of ,paid to them, but at the last minute Tom was paid a nice amount of money to keep silent and sign a better contract if he would co sign with Kerry and his management team , to say Dave Lombardo was never a member of the band legally and he was knowingly hired as an employee ( for the band that he named, designed the bands classic logo , and made around 50%of all musical arrangements for all the time he was part of slayer) On the world painted blood tour, that lasted nearly 18 months his total earnings were 70.000 dollars, where Kerry earned 1.8 million dollars and Tom earned just over 700 thousand, once Jeff died all the dodgey accounts were exposed. They ( Tom araya and Kerry king) really did fuck Dave Lombardo over massively for the 3rd time, the first was shortly after they recorded reign in blood, when Dave ended up leaving for a short time, then in 1992 Dave gave 7 months notice about the expected day of his child's birth and that he would like to be at the birth, the band and management agreed that they would not take any gigs during that time, But they got offered monsters of rock in 92 so instead of getting someone to do the show , they fired him and hired Bostaph as an employee ( much cheaper than keeping the original founding member). And that's why he didn't want anything to do with king especially, because originally Lombardo and king were the majority holders of slayer. Similar stuff like this happened in Slipknot when Paul died, they fired Joey not to long after, that meant two of the original owners of slipknot were out, and that left clown with majority rule,he then struck a deal with Corey, they fired Chris, and negotiated a new deal with the rest of the band.
@@aboutthemetal8783 from what I understand, this is a very accurate depiction. A lot of people have mouthed off about how Dave contributed little to the song writing (riffs and lyrics). That simply betrays just how little they understand what it takes to have a song ACTUALLY WORK. You said it perfectly - Dave was essential in the arrangement of the much of the music he played. That is no small thing when bringing a song off the paper and to life. He was also a key element of the recording processes. He had his shit together. I’m glad he chose to see his child’s birth instead of dealing with Kerry’s bullshit. I’m glad he shone a light on exactly how fucked the entire band was getting by management and King. I’m glad he made Arraya look like a bitch. I’m glad he left Slayer and recorded with Grip Inc, which honestly made Slayer’s next album look like crap. I’m glad that to this day, millions of Slayer fans recognize that it’s not really Slayer without him in the lineup. We far outnumber those who don’t feel that way. He deserves millions in backpay, but I hope he knows that most look at him and Jeff as the driving force behind the greatest band in metal and that he is the pinnacle of metal drumming. Him or Dave Mustaine are the first musicians I think of when I think of the genre. Dave Lombardo may be my favorite musician. Also, just seems like an incredibly cool guy.
@@aboutthemetal8783 I guarantee you, if Jeff was there, he would’ve fought tooth and nail to make sure Dave remained in the band and was paid what he deserved.
This is are Gods of Trash Metal. It's like I'm listening to a cassette tape. I cant imagine my feelings if ever I'm there watching them in live concert !!!!
NOW THOSE ARE MAN TOMS -=- VINNIE PAUL USES MAN TOMS AS WELL -=- NOT THOSE JOEY JORDINSONS JR KID KITS WITH OVER TIGHTENED TOMS TO MAKE YOU FASTER FROM THE RECOIL -=- PHYSICS
You'll never see Slayer play this song live with it's current line up. Paul was a great drummer but his abilities have eroded significantly. He can't pull off the faster double bass portions of any song anymore. Letting Dave walk was a big mistake for Slayer.
@@JustAPairofLegs Agreed bro, but that was when he was still able to pull it off. His abilities seriously decreased in later years. I heard it may have been due to injuries.
Kerry has shit talked them both. it depends on who is in the band. they should have went with Talley years back. He is a damn good Drummer, they lost a prodigy that wouldn't have split with an (elbow injury)
@@Beardshire Talley - loved him in Dying Fetus (though his drum sound was very thin) -- he lacked flow, groove, dynamics, character and instead just hit everything as hard as possible. Not a good fit for Slayer. John Dette was the best replacement Slayer ever had. I saw him with Slayer back in 96 and he fuckin' killed it. I bought his drum kit from that tour. Check him out.
@@timopeterfeef1843 Nah. John Dette was the best replacement for Dave Slayer ever had. Talley just hit everything as hard as possible. Not a very musical drummer.
It’s not really anti abortion. They just took a concept from a dodgy pro-life film that got some press in the 80s and applied the horror element to it. It’s no more pro- or anti- anything that Angel of Death.
