0:31 Did anyone even notice Tom sang the same part twice, then realizing that he fucked up, he started smiling, hahaha! I fucking love Tom, he is so awesome!
Jack The Riffer. As a guitarist myself, I gotta say, Great name handle, dude! ...what' s more ironic is, he's got the lyrics on the teleprompter right there at his feet - like at a karaoke bar. I've been die hard fan of Slayer since I was 12 yrs. old in '83 middle school & I don't know of him EVER having the lyrics on a monitor in a show. I'm sure that was decided bc it was recorded live on national tv. Well, THAT plan backfired, huh? Put Tom Araya under a national microsope & he got nervous. I bet he hasn't used any lyric monitor screen since... The cooloest part of it for me was the fact that both Jeff & Dave back on stage together as the original 4 in a pretty recent performance prior to Jeff's passing. 😎 👍
Tom is so calm. Although he made a minor mistake with lyrics he is just smiling. Long live Slayer and Rest In Peace Jeff Hanneman. You left too early from this world
If they played this song during super Bowl half time, imagine the the slam pit they would have. The football players would be slaming in the pit with their helmets.
Very true the OG Slayer no equivalent.........but maybe Dave Mustaine could tour with Slayer fill in for Jeff and Dave Lombardo and Tom Araya can put aside their differences for one more tour........come on slayer one more time
Totally agree ! Gary Holt even though was long time friends with the band , just didn't fit . And Dave cannot be replaced on drums . Tom was smart to call it quits . It's not Slayer without Jeff and Dave
I remember going to capitol with my boss and good buddy. We both got the world painted blood CD. I still jam it to this day. It's a really solid album and first time hearing Slayer. I know all their stuff now lmao
That brief moment when we had all 4 original members. We’ll never see that again. Now it’s Kerry King and friends tribute band. F**king classic Slayer right there.
They couldn't even play two guitars simultaneously😀. This riff is basically taken from hardcore.Long to explain, but who knows how the melodies are built, he understands.
I remember back in the 80's in an interview with Slayer I believe it was Kerry King that said "If their music ever becomes mainstream, there must be something wrong with the world" 😂😂😂😂
bcparkerjr There is nothing mainstream about this, simply there are more people (within all the shit) with better music taste. So sit back and enjoy the ride!
If you time travelled back to the 1980's and told Slayer that they would be playing their new single on a maintstreem, primetime talk show, I reckon they would have laughed and shook their heads.
To be honest I don't know what the fuck they were doing there. Late night tv with smiling doofuses introducing bands they know nothing about; singing a song about the end of the world by blood and fire and death to nonplussed middle class people who wouldn't know thrash metal if it bit them in the ass.,..not my scene....wouldn't be something I'd do....but then again, I ain't Slayer....
@@jayeee2756 yeah thay played mostly old stuff at there farewell gig it was an epic show. it was a pity Lombardo wasn't drumming but the outher guy was pretty dam good
I WAS THERE...outside and peeking through a hole in the fence desperate trying to see this band play. Slayer looked and sounded PHENOMENAL! There was also about 150 people outside in the street on Hawthorn Avenue MOSHING so hard that people went from having fun to getting violent, fighting, and injured. The police and an ambulance showed up about 5 minutes into this performance. I never saw a group of people change so fast.
Rembo while i do agree with this statement, with jeff passing, i cant think of anyone better than gary holt taking his place. Still prefer dave on drums tho...
staff told everyone before going in, no moshing, no stage diving and all the usual bullshit... insurance liabilities and all that... they should've known no one was going to listen...
-Which band should we get to the show? -I don't know... Any new albums out lately? -Well, there's this one.... -Slayer? Never heard of them.. Oh well, they'll do. *Slayer starts to play* -The....best.....choice.... EVER MADE!
Jeff was such a great person. Those who have been lucky enough to not only see them live but get to talk to the guys as well will agree that Jeff was a killer dude! He's Def missed. He had a HUGE part to do with the Slayer we love today. RIP JEFF...🤘
Haha I was there for this! Before Slayer played, a guy from the Jimmy Kimmel staff came out and said this was the most people they've ever had show up for one of the back lot concerts. There were people on the roofs of the buildings across the street watching and the whole street behind the lot was lined with people. It's one thing to go to a slayer show, but when you see enough people to fill the palladium turn out just to see them play 5 songs, that's pretty awesome. The producer is probably saying "ok great, get me a zoom shot of the guitar while he's doing the solo... zoom in... zoom in... oh neat! are those skulls on his guitar? keep zooming... what are those other things? are those lightning bolts? ahhhh shit! quick! cut to camera 2!!!!" hahaha
This song is an amazing opener. Saw them on the American Carnage Tour with Megadeth and Testament 12 years ago. Man they destroyed San Francisco that night 🤘🏼
I was outside of this on Hawthorn Avenue desperately trying to maintain a visual on this performance watching through a quarter size hole in the green tarp covering the fence. There was about a hundred other people who were not able to get in with me and people were pissed. People starting moshing in the middle of the street and someone got hurt and cop cars showed up with an ambulance. All that I can tell you is that Slayer looked and sounded light years beyond what can be described verbally or in writing. Being there as they played live was pure euphoria.
I was there that night. The crowd was insane. The security for the JK Live show and local Police had a rough time keeping kids from climbing the fence around the parking lot where this stage is. During their soundcheck that day kids were throwing shit over the fences and screaming all day long. Fun Times indeed.
When Jimmy Kimmel introduced the band, he didn't look very enthusiastic about them. He's kinda got that "who's idea was it to invite these guys here" look on his face. He'd probably be more 'comfortable' with one of today's no-talent top 40 bands.
I had the pleasure of helping carrynin Dave's drum kit on the first Fantomas tour. His symbol stand are thicker tham the usual stand because of how hard hits hits.
Slayer may be classed as metal but their riffs are so punk I love it. One of the few bands where I see as many punks and metal heads when they play live. Seen this band so many times. Dave Lombardo is a genius. I remember when I first learned Angel of Death I thought I have now reached a milestone. Dave Lombardo may not be the fastest but still the best modern metal drummer by a country mile. Anyone who disagrees is obviously not a drummer. Double bass drums can bore so he mixes it with punk style single bass drum and he has the best fills of any thrash drummer. Only Nick Mensa came close. George Kollias is technically very impressive but lacks the Lombardo thunder.
