Alot of people in the comments are asking: "Won't sleeping on my side create asymmetry?" Sleeping on your back was not the natural sleeping position of our ancestors. Lying flat on one's back on the uneven, hard surfaces of a cave or forest floor would have likely led to significant back pain. Anyone who has gone camping will be aware of this. Also, when you sleep on your back, it is more difficult to follow the tropic premise because gravity causes the lower jaw to drop, and the tongue to fall back into the throat. This is supported by the fact that more people snore when sleeping on their back than on their side, causing them to mouth breath. If you sleep on your side, you can keep your jaw from dropping by using a pillow for support, and suction-based mewing should be enough to keep breathing through the nose.
Very interesting, as so many say that sleeping on the back is the "correct" way to sleep. I trained myself to be a back sleeper because I thought it was more beneficial. Going to switch it up and see how I feel. I also just started mouth taping 6 days ago, so I will see how the new sleeping posture adds in. I'll update in maybe 2-3 days. (I actually will)
This is reassuring to say the least as someone who really struggles to sleep on their back. Thank u for the video I will practice these tips and looking forward to sleeping on my side tonight!
Hi, I downloaded the mewing app, and it asks the initial questions about my objectives, but then it brings me back to the main page It doesn't allow me to sign up And I saw others complaining about the same issue on google playstore I say this in case you're unaware and this information could be of help in any way
@@goatlpsprove it. If you plug the nose of an identical twin but not the other, the one with the plugged nose will grow a deformed face. Period. And not many, if at all, skulls found belonging to our ancestors were deformed or had bad teeth. They had developed jaws, brows & cheek bones.
The editing and script has gotten so much better. I love how he gives useful and factual advice, unlike most of the advice you see on social media. Thank you dr. Mew!❤️
Fr I really wish I stuck with it Found it early on in 7th grade but never fully committed My friend who I told about it Stuck with it and it worked wonders
@@safinhh8312women genuinely don’t care how tall you are. As long as you’re abit taller than them it’s ok, in my case I’ve been told my height is Perfect for her and I’m 5 foot 7
I'm glad you mentioned side sleeping. I remember commenting on a Qoves Studio vid that while lying on your back may prevent wrinkles, it could also lead to bad tongue posture and mouth breathing. The channel creater, though he is a fan of mewing, only gave a non-reply about mouth breathing being caused by a number of factors and that my point is not consequential
1. suction based mewing (swallow saliva until suction is in place) 2. room temp (cool room) 3. side sleeping (sleep on left side) 4. incline bed theory (incline bed if possible) 5. mouth taping (aids nose breathing) 6. nasal spray/ nasal strips
You’re more likely die incredibly stupid if you keep thinking this will actually change your genetics. I say this because I don’t want you to waste your time. I had to have reconstructive surgery to get my result, if I could’ve done this I would’ve done that instead!
This is one of your best videos to date. Getting clearer, more concise, and dense with information. Worth watching again, and sending to others! Thanks Dr. Mew!
Dr. Mew, you deserve to be fully acknowledged and appreciated in every possible way Thank you endlessly for contributing to the overall health of millions! ❤❤❤ And carrying on the legacy of your dear father We are very grateful Also, loving the new style and format!!
Mewing has been the most transformative experience in my life. I started 7 years ago back in 2017 and my underbite is nearly gone, my teeth are straighter, I finally have some semblance of cheekbones and great masseter & temporal muscle development. My jaws are broader and much more robust too. Keep up the great work.
@@ben-bs8bl You have to chew gum too. It only works if you chew gum for hours a day and also do some kind of an crunch or sit-up that works on your hyoid muscles too. The face is a joint (tempomandibular joint) and it requires exercise.
U dont need gum to bring ur jaw forward unless ur pushing the roof of ur mouth while chewing. Otherwise, it just gives you more defined cheekbones. I chewed normal gum for 4 days for 4 hours straight on average and noticed stronger cheekbones after losing 4 lbs
@@lilnathan3307 If your face is already assymetrical on one side, you would have to put your tongue to one specific side, instead in the middle, to counter the assymtry. But what side? And how exactly? I don't think it's that simple.
Video format is much better for this kind of content. But a book could allow the evidence to be laid out once more medical research has caught up to Dr. Mew’s practice. Currently the research is still inconclusive.
I agree with most of the things that you say, but it is better for a person to sleep on the right side than the left because many people get liver problems, our liver is something that is very heavy, and when we sleep on the left side the liver will be resting on the side of the heart which is not good for our health, whereas when we sleep on the right side the heart will be resting on the liver which is good for the heart and will give a better blood flow
The Thumbnail 💀💀 Many people ''overdo'' Mewing and go to extremes and many people make fun of them, also view mewing as a silly thing to do. This video explains perfectly what mewing is all about and it is also the version that I (at least partly) adapted and it definetely improves your facial features. PS: Just don't abuse abuse your face with a hammer or do anything that gives you permanent damage, because ''attractiveness'' is not worth destroying your health for. The Mainkey is getting used to a certain tongue position and nasal breathing. And that actually works. 💯 No Doubt.
Thankyou so much somehow I’ve been mewing for 4 months and seems as though the 2 front teeth in my mouth straightened out and I noticed I’ve been calmer and my cheeks slimmed
I have been performing face yoga off and on for years and it does work wonders. Today, was my first time trying out Mewing and absolutely yes it did make a positive difference after about one hour of palate exercises. I do use an oral prosthetic for sleep which I will continue to install before bed; however, the Mewing has added a smooth jaw contour I cannot achieve solely with the appliance. Fascinating Netflix documentary titled 'Open Wide' brought me here. Thanks to Dr Mike Mew and Dr John Mew for the benefits of a lifetime of developing alternatives to invasive procedures. I have informed my amazing dentist via email to watch your fascinating documentary.
I don’t know who needs to hear this but about 2 years ago I had achieved a nearly ideal facial growth through mewing I even had 2 modeling contracts on the table offered to be. Needless to say I messed my face completely when I started mouth taping, I used to have the highest cheek bones out of anyone walking in the streets and after mouth taping at night I completely lost definition and my jawline looked as strong but my face got broader in a less positive sense rather than defined and attractive. I would advise to not force your mouth shut but rather to mew so well during the day that at night it becomes automatic
If you are having congestion, I would encourage you to stop eating sugar and white foods. I went to an allergist and specialist for asthma. I told both,"I will see you in a year without any asthma symptoms." I returned recently for a follow-up appointment a year later. NO asthma symptoms. The respirologist asked what I had done. I informed him of what I had done-no white food or processed food. He commented jokingly, "Heh, don't tell anyone. I'll be out of a job." People gain control of your eating habits. North American food in some ways are causing a slow death for many!! God bless and keep you.
Am glad am always sleeping on my sides and i find it uncomfortable to sleep on my back and that's probably why i got nice results from mewing at a late age 27 . Thanks dr mew 🙂
Dr.Mew please make a video on asymmettrical mewing in which we are not able to apply pressure equally on both sides which results in asymmetry in the face. Please make a video adressing the soltuon to this.
Be careful with the word pressure, you need to create a suction not a push on the palate. If you have suction and a big enough palate arch, you should be fine, however some people might need some expansion to have enough room to keep their tongue on the roof of their mouth. Keep at it and good luck!
Thanks Doctor Mike. Your videos, like the big bolus training, has helped a lot in making the suction hold easier for me. My tongue feels stronger and more use to being in the proper position.
Hello mike mew unfortunately you are wrong about sleep because sleeping on the left side puts pressure on our heart and causes serious heart problems but of course we turn over involuntarily at night and even our brain does this involuntarily but the sleep time on the left side is always short. A Turkish proverb says don't blink when trying to make eyebrows.
Jivha Bandha (Tongue Lock) Book Reference: Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Chapter 3 (Bandha and Mudra), Verse 4-5. and Its Similarities with Mewing. 1. Tongue Placement: Like mewing, Jivha Bandha involves pressing the tongue against the roof of the mouth. In both practices, this tongue posture is crucial for directing energy flow and maintaining facial structure. 2. Facial Structure and Muscle Tone: Jivha Bandha, similar to mewing, helps in improving facial muscle tone. This promotes a well-defined jawline and corrects oral posture, which is essential for overall facial symmetry. 3. Respiratory Benefits: Both techniques emphasize proper nasal breathing. Jivha Bandha, like mewing, encourages nasal breathing by positioning the tongue correctly, which helps clear airways and improve respiratory health. 4. Neurological and Physiological Effects: Just as mewing stimulates proper neural and muscular function through tongue posture, Jivha Bandha activates the vagus nerve, aiding in relaxation and stress reduction, contributing to balanced autonomic function. 5. Energy Flow Regulation: Jivha Bandha regulates prana (vital energy) through tongue posture, similar to how mewing promotes energy balance by optimizing oral posture and breathing patterns. In summary, Jivha Bandha and mewing share significant similarities in tongue placement, facial structure benefits, and their impact on respiratory and neurological health. Both practices emphasize the importance of correct oral posture for overall well-being.
Does he have an opinion on the sleep young pillow? 😮 It doesn’t touch my bottom of the face….its helped my acne and marionette lines….I’m big into face yoga. A current student in training for a certification but ultimately -I want the best health not just a nice face!❤
But dr mike, in your app you encouraged us to sleep on our backs without a pillow. And sleeping on the side causes my collar bones to hurt and become sore. So i sleep on my back.
