Excellent work Jamie. The joy of the rebar. 😁 I put in 25 in two days in my sleepers and that was my first injury with a tennis elbow. 🙄 But I had them cut to measurements so I didn't have to cut them.

Highly recomend buying some slicing disks for the grinder. Super fast and resly cold cut compared to a wide grinding disk. Alot less wear on your tool aswell

@Keeping it Koi I got caught short last month and had to use a dimond disk lol. Thankfully it was a cheeper disk and not much of a loss using it. Note to self now. Alwaus have a pack of slicing disk and flapper disks nesr the welder lol

i have been thinking do you think I should put rebar in my pond that I am building ? maybe the screws are fine just woundering
@keepingitkoi
@keepingitkoi 2 года назад
With your pond bud because of how small it is and the fact that you have dug down a couple of feet I would say your fine 👍 the strongest outward pressure is at the bottom of the pond not the top and being a relatively small koi pond there won't be that much pressure. I know everyone worries but when you think these free standing fiberglass ponds or even the Intex swimming pools there only held together by there plastic liners that are glued and stitched together and they last years even the really big ones. the only reason for rebar is to keep all the sleepers in the exact same position they started in and you have used a fair few screws and if there at least 8mm thick I really think you'll be fine I would recommend though better stronger corner brackets wickes do really good ones for less than £2 each real heavy duty👍 I would also look into better filtration as well as that box your building to sit above your pond is not ideal for koi unless your only looking at 1 or 2 fish 👍 maybe an easy pod or something like that bud 👍

What size hole for the what size rebar if you dont mind me asking ?? I was going to go 1mm over size to the drilled hole??
@keepingitkoi
@keepingitkoi Год назад
It was a 12mm hole for 12mm rebar as is didn't want any movement in them once it was in and remember as the wood dries out more it shrinks and contracts so the hole will probably get bigger as it dries out 👍😊 hope that helped 👍

Hi I'm building a sleeper pond and just wondering do you need to fix the sleepers to the concrete or just sit them on the concrete?
@keepingitkoi
@keepingitkoi Год назад
Mine are just sat on top of the concrete I did contemplate that my self but I decided not to as the would will move and the concrete won't so I decided not to as I thought it might crack or damage the concrete hope that helps 👍

@macauleybowen2895 Год назад
Sorry only just saw your reply, I'm happy to do the same, just lay the sleepers onto the concrete and rebar the sleepers together. Have you had any problems doing it like this? Your videos are really helpful, I'm basing my new pond build around yours with slight changes
