As someone with a good amount of anxiety, and insomnia, this really is relaxing. I love games, and educated discussion/reviews about them and their history, and so naturally this is nice to listen to for both entertainment and relaxation. Thanks Pete.
Possible list of Pete Dorr's Top Ten Games (Taken from watching his videos throught the years) 1). ICO 2). SOCOM II 3). Shadow of the Colossus 4). Dark Cloud 5). Super Mario 64 6). Skyrim 7). Little Big Planet 8). Final Fantasy ??? 9). Diddy Kong Racing 10).Rez
This video is just what I've always wanted. I have insomnia and what helps me go to bed is turning on video game podcasts but most of the time it really isn't geared toward the sleeping individual. Thanks pete this is very nice of you. I appreciate this video and really hope you make more.
I liked it. Thumbs up! At the very least it's much more comfortable to listen to than all the screaming that is all over the internet these days. "HELLO AND WELCOME!!!! Today we're talking about STUFF, YEAHHHHHHHHH AND BE SURE TO LEAVE A COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE BECAUSE YOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'LLSEEYOUINTHENEXTEPISODEOFTHISSHOWWHERE I.... TALKABOUTEVERYTHINGONTHEPLANETWITHOUTBREATHINGBYE" The. Horror.
Nicely done, Pete! I didn't sleep to this but it was very soothing and relaxing to listen to this. Also, Sonic Adventure 2 is my favourite game of all-time so a sequel is like a dream for me too!
great video, and great idea for a new series. I LOVE putting your videos on in the background while playing games/relaxing/sleeping. This is seriously perfect. NOTE: DON'T CHANGE YOUR VOICE AT ALL. The tone and volume is perfect, it's not like a creepy kind of whisper which is fantastic.
I was skeptical but I must admit I did enjoy this. It was nice to have some relaxing game talk going as I prepped for bed. I would like to see more of these. Nice experiment, Pete.
Awesome job Pete! I love ASMR style videos, so I think this is a great addition to your channel! It's a great combination of being able to be used for sleep, along with making just a nice podcast to listen to. Some people make ASMR style videos a little awkward with the intense whispering, you seem to have a really good in between of whispering and normal talking, it's very natural! I hope to see more!
Great idea! It's like a calming podcast talking about games! I'll definitely "use" the next one to try to sleep, because for me it's hard to sleep, so we'll see :)
Where's episode 2? How am I going to get yo sleep tonight!? I like listening to shit like this at bed time, I find it very hard to get to sleep, so keep making these and I for one will keep listening
I really enjoy your videos and watch them everything. When you posted a video about this I thought it was a little strange but I really enjoyed it. The video had a awesome topic and actually put me to sleep. Can't wait for episode 2
Not gonna lie brother. Listenimg to this on the drive to work this morning and almost rear ended the car in front of me because i completely zoned out.
Great video Pete. I'm not affected by ASMR or anything but I always found your long videos very relaxing, to begin with. My problem is my brain being overstimulated with thoughts and anxieties before bed time, but I think a simple monologue about games might help sleep faster. I've tried music and podcasts and they don't help.
I used this video to help me fall asleep the last couple of nights. I've been having trouble sleeping for a long time now. I can't for more so can make a playlist of these.
Pete! This video was great. I listened to it last week and it put me to sleep in about 15 minutes. Granted, it was 2 a.m. and I was super tired, but it still was very relaxing to listen to. I listened to the rest of this tonight because I wanted to know all of what you had to say haha. Good work and I hope to see more of these.
ASMR and video games blended together. Excellent idea, Pete! Hopefully you'll get to keep this series going for quite some time :) this is a growing trend that for example Heather Feather has tried on her channel and it really does work!
Even though it didn't put me to sleep, I listened to and enjoyed the entire video. I would really love if you DO do one talking about Final Fantasy XI, as it was the first MMO I got into, and for a couple of years I really enjoyed and have some great memories from.
ASMR works for me when I just listen and not watch. I think you've done a really great job and that this will work for many 'tingle heads'. I'll certainly keep listening to your videos but not for ASMR reasons. I would need actual sounds to be present that mean something, other than just your voice. Still, good going Pete. I'm sure you'll make many listeners happy.
This is actually awesome. I usually listen to youtube vids before bed anyways - and i tend to stay away form ones where the dude is screaming like a desperate comedian. Just game talk without the cocaine, love it.
Try a windscreen so they can't hear you breathe over the mic. You can even make one very cheaply. This video thing isn't for me but just tryin to help you help others a little better. I sleep with a fast blasting fan about 12" from my face. Not sure if it's the white noise but I've done it since I was a kid.
One tip for sleep Pete is to not have action thoughts. Avoiding thinking about anything you have to do, like having to sleep - it triggers your brain to wake up. Instead, try to have perceptive thoughts, like about how comfortable you are. Also, Tank Tank Tank (arcade) rocks. It was probably my favourite part of Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas. O and great vid 10/10 would pass out again
28:23 If you ever decide to bring this series back, I would LOVE an episode on FFXI, Pete. I played that game as hardcore as a person could when I was 15 from 2003-2005. Like you, I could talk probably for hours in-depth about the game - it was that impactful of an experience. Loved the episode of you and Johnny talking about it.
Amazing! I have one tip though- Maybe a little more whispery (just a tad) and maybe you can use more diction because that is a trigger for many people! :) Great job! Can't wait for more!
I have pretty bad insomnia and this video definitely (and surprisingly) helped with that, so thanks! I had never even heard of ASMR before, but I will definitely be looking into it.
