I attended this production of "La Belle au Bois Dormant" on New Year's Eve. FANTASTIQUE, SUPERB! Myriam Ould-Braham and Mathias Heymann were truly outstanding dancers. Thank you for this post!
I watched this after her rose adagio performance from this same performance. I originally though that her shoes died. I think the rose adagio scared her a bit. She seems much calmer in the variation. Nerves happen, and when your entrance is that difficult as such a big character, it's hard to not be nervous.
well, you try standing on your toes, keeping your back straight, making your arms soft and delicate, all while probably never dancing in such a role, being casted last minute, and not to mention the stress of being recorded.
@Robert Lee, Countertenor she danced, that’s her job. You as a musician should know very well that live performances carry risks. I suggest you take this phrase into consideration: “even the sun has spots.”
No, but she had very little time to rehearse as she had to replace another dancer at a short notice. She was actually supposed to dance Princess Florine for this broadcast. Too bad because her actual debut as Aurora was much better but there are no official recordings of it.
