That ain't the case with my band unfortunately. Its usually the trumpets that never get notes right. But it usually switches back and forth from the trumpets and the trombones. No hate towards them tho.
@@rachaelmartin4506 We have one of the best bands in Iowa! In fact, we are going to play in the rose bowl! Look out for the Marching Dutch! (Also, nice job!)
2:15 this is always my favorite part of this piece bc the part the trombones play is just so good like i can’t even explain how much i like it -from a percussionist :)
This has got to be my favorite christmas song to play, because the slapstick part (i'm percussion) is fun to run around and jump and stuff when we're playing, and also because the trombone part is very pretty, and the part at 2:08 sounds so nice, especially when it gets to that lower, groovy part. Such a great song, and while i despice the lyrical version of the song (it was the worst back when i was in choir), It is a great and groovy tune to play and listen to during the infinite rests for the slapstick part! -From a jack of all trades, master of percussion (I play bari sax, trumpet, french horn, violin, gonna be starting on cello soon, guitar, piano, and my favorite, battery percussion with an emphasis on drumset and tenors)
Yes as a wind instrument jack of all trades I relate to thisssss but we have yet to play with version of sleigh ride we played another arrangement I play French horn trumpet baritone tuba mellophone mallets bass drum that’s all I can remember as of right now I love this comment
as someone who was in band for a few years, playing clarinet for one and percussion for the rest, y'all literally played so well. our trombone section always sucked so bad except for this one kid who was somewhat decent but barely came to school 😭
Im in intermediate band and so far I’ve heard the advanced band played this, they were extraordinary! I’m in the percussion group of band and I hope to play the awesome slapstick and groove to the sound of each section, great job trombones!
Great experience. In the noisy and bullying, poisoning social milieu I live in, watching you and listening to the music you all play brings a real relief to me: kids are intelligent and talented, they just need attention and some professional help with finding themselves, and if they can get it they make miracle and peace for everyone. Thank you very much indeed for share this with us. Take care and keep up the good job, kids.
Nicely Done! Great tone + no mistakes + actually watching Director = serious quality. Hands down this is in the top three trombone perspective videos on YT.
Funny side note: when this video started playing I thought it just 'another' SR perspective vid & wasn't really watching. Then I recognized Hicks talking and realized OMG I know those guys!
the absolute SAUCE on this. Bravo. Now if our first trombone can get his shit together we might be able to sound this wonderous. - salty 2nd chair trombone
@@Lanadeljake2014 is he is ur bed right now? What is this grammar skill??? My baby cousin is better at Grammer then u r, and she is 1 and a half years old...
awesome! this is my first year of high school band, ergo my first year playing sleigh ride and i wish i filmed myself playing it (4th french horn). you guys sound amazing! something also kind of cool is the mello sign in the back. i say funky monkey all the time and (since i also play mellophone) i thought that was a cool coincidence.
it is simple : i see pretty person playing an instrument, i click the video ( fr though y’all sound great! this song was always my favorite part of concert band >
i don’t play trombone nor am i in band anymore (graduated high school 3 years ago) but this brings back good mems of christmas rehearsals after school. i wish my band and i did these videos! u guys sound great btw!
Man I love sliegh Ride play it every year in my Wnid Ensemble, I just wish at 2:15 you would added a slur between the E Natrual and the F and sounds so good
Beautifully played! One question- are the tuners the teacher's idea, or is that something you did as a section? It's a really good idea! (When I played in the Army, I played with a tuner during rehearsals for months. It helps you learn the peculiarities of your specific horn's intonation.)
I am so fricken extremely jealous. I don’t wanna diss my old section, cause they’re all lovely people, but I wish last year I could have played with y’all. I was the only grade 12 trombone, which was a nightmare itself. Anyways- YALL R GREAT!!!! you guys play very well! Good luck on future musical endeavours! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
2:15 you have got to have more pride here! This is the best part for the low voices! It sounds great otherwise but I always eyed towards maybe a bit loud at that point when I played this.
Very good section! as a bass trombonist, you should egg yours into playing louder; not because he necessarily needs to, but because you can always use more!
I am translating Japanese into English, so it might be strange. Everyone on the screen was so handsome that I kept looking at everyone's faces(´◉ᾥ◉ The performance was excellent.✨
I have been playing trombone for 3 years and about tuners, can you tell me the brand and model, because I have a KORG tuner (AW-LT100M), which also pinches on the bell, so-called special Brass, but which presents a lot of delay to display the note, and in addition, it does not turn off by itself, suddenly it eats the batteries. That's why I would like to know if yours are performing better. Thank's
I'm so confused Why does no one else's trombone section in these videos play the same thing we do?? Do we not know how to play?? Is it different?? Am I dumb? 😭
