@@fredrik952I spoke with an ex-trumpet player for the President’s Own marine band and he said that you should aim for a high C (high Bb for bass clef) with your finger under the third valve in order to prevent it from going all the way down while vigorously shaking the horn
NICE JOB!! (And the “horse whinney” at the end was perfection.) As a brass & woodwind teacher for 33 years (and a musician who has played this piece about 13 times), you can trust me when I say you did an outstanding job. You weren’t just good technically - you played it MUSICALLY! Keep it up. The worldwide tribe of musicians is happy to have you among us!
@@kaitlynr8688i play the trumpet, and when my fingers are flat theres a higher chance of me pushing sideways (thats how the valves get stuck). Curving them makes me push straight up and down which is better for the valves! (i’m not a professional though, just from my experience)
I was so impressed with how well you guys watched the conductor. The tone quality was pretty darn good and you guys did really good with dynamics. All of that was very impressive. All of you guys were truly one unit.
i don’t play trumpet nor am i in band anymore (graduated high school 3 years ago) but this brings back so many memories of christmas rehearsals and holiday concerts. i wish my band and i did these videos back then. u 2 sound great AND THAT NEIGH WAS THE BEST IVE EVER HEARD
I am a band director as well and I have to say that your tone, attention to articulation, and dynamic contrast is exceptional! Keep playing! Truly talented musicians!
I've been on a kick of watching Sleigh Ride and have probably seen 100 of these videos. You two are the unequivocal best of the trumpets. You're focused, you nail the tone, and it was a pleasure to watch you as you are intentional in playing well.
Man this bring back memories. Used to play trumpet back in high school and had a Christmas concert playing Sleigh Ride as well. Keep up the great work guys. Trumpets represent! 💪🏼
I graduated HS over a decade ago but this was always the most fun song to play around Christmas. Our director did not like doing it every winter concert but almost every section has a really fun part to play, so it always made its way into the program.
I know I'm late but I love this video! The band sounds so great and you two sound amazing as well! (coming from a 2nd year trumpeter) Sleigh ride never gets old with videos like these (In my opinion, best sleigh ride video from a trumpet's pov)
Guy on the right, I know a face of someone (usually percussion) messing up😂Regardless, both of you were on point, and the horse whinny was fantastic!! 10/10, this was a textbook performance. Well done!
I’m a freshman trumpet playing 1st cornet on this piece in December at my first high school band concert. I’m kinda terrified but extremely excited haha!
