You should develop a cam clamp “cap”. That has that type of material attached to it. This cap would just snap onto the clamp pad area, kind of like how some wood working clamps have plastic protector caps that snap over the flat jaw surfaces. 👍🏻. Thx Sam.
That's certainly a good idea. However, you are then back to having the clamp face close enough to the workpiece again so that snags can occur trying to place the pieces that follow under the clamp. One of the other nice things with the free floating pad is it pushes any little chip fleck out, so the face doesn't get a little dent in it, too.
