A true poet. The first time I heard this song a couple months ago, I was captivated. Days before, I lost everything to a tornado, and this song spoke so deeply to me. “Do not dwell on what has passed away, or what is yet to be.” Times like these it’s so important to focus on the moment, take it all in so you can heal. This song is helping me so much through this dark time. “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” ❤️
yes..his biography '' Im your Man'' is a Great Read also...an interesting gutsy life...very wise in the end when he became a Buddhist Monk..you feel that vibe in his song..his concerts, with the backup singers, are holy masses of goodness...yum..i d like to transport there, show me where the portal is...
The lyrics to this wonderful song are even more poignant for today. Thinking of Ukraine 🇺🇦-🎶🎶🎶 there is a crack in everything- that’s how the light gets in 🎶🎶🎶 thank you Leonard 💖
50 or so years ago this man sang his way into my life, and his voice has woven its magic thread around my life since. Thank you fly free into the light.
What else is left for us,while the world is plunged in war and suffering, but, ring the bells as loud as possible. Our hope is the crack that enables the light get in.L.Cohen ,you will always be remembered, adored, loved.😂
I saw and heared him this year in Moenchengladbach/Germany by the light of a perfect sunset after a rainy day. What a striking artist, what an amazing gentleman! I was so touched! All my respect to him, who - the less loud he sings, the better he is heared and understood. may god bless him
I was so touched by the mans reverence as if respecting the words of WB Yeats "I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams" Honoured to have been in the presence of greatness
I was at this show. Absolute magic: the mist lifting off Benbulbin behind the stage and a crack of light showing in at the start and the audience all dancing on the tiered stands by the end. Totally rapt with the whole show. Especially loved that he skipped on to the stage for each encore - let's see Bruce do that when he's 76!!
Oh! Thank you for telling your story. First time I see these videos, and I was just saying to myself how much I love the participation of this audience. My love for Leonard is more than 50 years old.
"Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in. "Sin go díreach é a Leonard. Go n-éirí an bóthar leat!
Excelente cantor.Os seus espetáculos eram longos e maravilhosos.Deixou uma quantidade de canções com versos lindos.Partiu, mas ficará sempre lembrado pelas suas canções e pela pessoa maravilhosa que era!
The same for me. I never heard of him until June 2009 and I made it to 3 concerts in Ireland, Odyssey Belfast, Lissadell Sligo and Kilmainham Dublin, always in my heart 💚💚
brilliant man. i hoped for much more music in the years to come, for much more poetry for the generations who still have to discover him. he'll never die, he just turned silent. i wish there was a treaty - between his life and the unyielding laws.
Thank you ALBERT......WONDERFUL!!...stirring stuff!!.I adore hearing Leonard quoting poetry so eloquently, as well of course, as his emotional singing... his soft and oh so deep voice!!
Thanks. What dignity, grace, generosity, respect! So sad, that no one had the vision to make a HD recording of this performance in this immense historic place. There are other Irish resonances in Cohen's great life: Judy Collins performed early some songs for which he will be remembered always and the Kate & Anna McGarrigle Canadian sisters.
Just seeing this now for the first time. I was seven rows from the front at this amazing gig. So glad that Leonard lost his money, as I would have never have got to see him those five wonderful times and also would never have got to meet him as well. He used to stay in the Gresham Hotel when he played Dublin. I will cherish my signed Guitar by the great man and all those wonderful memories. R.I.P Oh Great One!!
He is a light being. Today I realized that he is still in charge and keeps sending and anchoring his light upon us from his personal heaven. Thank you Leonard Cohen, thank you for visiting our planet earth :)
In Memory of Eva Gore-Booth and Con Markievicz BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS The light of evening, Lissadell, Great windows open to the south, Two girls in silk kimonos, both Beautiful, one a gazelle. But a raving autumn shears Blossom from the summer's wreath; The older is condemned to death, Pardoned, drags out lonely years Conspiring among the ignorant. I know not what the younger dreams - Some vague Utopia - and she seems, When withered old and skeleton-gaunt, An image of such politics. Many a time I think to seek One or the other out and speak Of that old Georgian mansion, mix Pictures of the mind, recall That table and the talk of youth, Two girls in silk kimonos, both Beautiful, one a gazelle. Dear shadows, now you know it all, All the folly of a fight With a common wrong or right. The innocent and the beautiful Have no enemy but time; Arise and bid me strike a match And strike another till time catch; Should the conflagration climb, Run till all the sages know. We the great gazebo built, They convicted us of guilt; Bid me strike a match and blow.
Thank you whoever recorded this! I wish I had realized what a great artist this man was earlier in my life, only discovered him really when he passed. Any of my Irish relatives or friends see this wonderful concert? He seemed to love Ireland except maybe not the weather so much!
"What have I earned for all this work, I asked, for all that I have done at my own charge?" W B Yeats ALSO wrote these words. Cohen honours all who have helped his musical career. Let US ALL HONOUR those who have 'chivvied us along'. Nigel Harris Price BA Hons Cert Ed MIfL. (Designer/craftsman/facilitator in precious metals)
Seen Leonard perform this track at the belfast Odyssey in 2009 & didn't think it could be bettered, I was wrong ! Fantastic video Albert , keep them coming & many thanks my friend.
