Have so many CD recordings, even some 45s. I remember l heard Slim the first time ever was on the Louisiana Hayride & was just an early teen girl. Daddy & l would always listen that show every Saturday night on the radio. Sometime the static was so bad led almost, crawl up in that radio. When l bought country music magazine law his pi true & thought breathed & talked Slim Whitman all the time. He was my first crush... I even learned to yodel from him & loved to do it. I am in a nursing home & 79 & some of,the residents will ask me to yodel. Slim was always one of the very best & Mere Haggard was up there too, but Mere wrote & sang about the rough he ha led & turned it around. He yodeled the Ole Jimmy Rogers style. Both are the greatest singers l ever knew. Now, Byron is right there with his dad, l learned, when l saw them together in London. I would have loved to have been able to see them both.
I had a few Slim Whitman albums growing up. Never gave him much attention. Mistake. I'm rediscovering his talent and good songs. I believe my dad liked him as well as I recall now him doing yodeling at times in his singing amd these songs lyrics and melodies bringing back memories. Sad he is gone and I can't ask. This song also makes me sad and reminiscing. Like I'm somehow connected to a different time and place. For some reason, this song too makes me think how nice the singing and dancing must have been at some of the clubs and bars throughout the 1960s, 1970s and possibly 1980s.. Must have been a way different vibe.
I used to see Slim Whitman live on the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport. I was always amazed at his voice and his lack of pretension. His stage name in those days was The Singing Postman. I am grateful that all of this old stuff is being uploaded. Thanks to who ever is responsible.
The greatest singer I have ever heard, the golden voice of my idol slim is now duetting and entertaining everyone in heaven with the queen of country music patsy Cline Sleep in peace slim Sleep in peace patsy
Bbaby Byron looks just like dad...God Bless Slim I still have the pictures you took with me at The Old Valley Forge Music Fair, you reafirmed in me that some Artists are nice people to.Ill never forget how great you treated me...
Phillip it always brings to my eyes also. Slim was always so in love with Jerry, his name for his wife & you could, see it in his eyes when they were together. Someone asked him how it was that,he could, sing a love song with so,much meaning. He said because he was always singing the song to her.
I understand slims love for his son, but, there’s no comparison, all I want to here is slims voice, spectacular, magnificent vocals & and wonderful legend of a man, his voice was unique, nothing can follow, ❤️
Absolutely Fantastic! Slim and Byron stand tall together in those fabulous suits - singing one of their brilliant duets.. Very Well Done and Thank You Pete!!! MM. UK. A few seconds ago · Like

Man! Talk about a Chip off the Block! It's like someone brought the young Slim in a time machine and let him sing with himself! Thanks for sharing this. :-)
This is such a fabulous song by Slim and Byron. Many thanks to Pete for these great videos of the best country singers in my lifetime. Slim's voice was unique and most beautiful - just like the man who was - Slim Whitman. Equally Byron - duets with Slim are amazing. I hope all these wonderful songs will live on for many years to come...MM. U.K
Well, I just have to wonder where Byron is singing and playing these days. He is excellent and provides another link to the real country music. He's the real thing.
omg,, did not know slim had a son,, ! god damn / I only know just slim back then as I was a kid ,. / fcuk this still so great,!!!/ rember my dad & ma," etc / play back in the 70s, / when I was just a kid,,!!
I love old "Nashville Sound" era recordings. Love many elder country acts. Don Gibson, Hank Snow [the first one], Big John Cash, Roger Miller, Ray Price, Bobby Baer, The Browns, Tex Ritter, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins... I have bought / purchased Slim Whitman on Vynil back in the 70's. I honestly don't think of him in the Caliber as the earlier folks mentioned but recognize what he brought to the party. I think he'd have at more longevity as a serious act if he'd been handled correctly in terms of his material and less of the yodel hook that was done to death. I actually like the odd yodelling piece but as a main selling hook in particular the way it was done in Slim's canon of work. I think SCTV did more for resurrecting his novelty than anything but hey, he had a solid voice without the yodeling in service of a song. Great voice, just didn't like how he was roped into the novelty of jumping octaves ad nausea. I think many would really feel the same way. It is what it is and I wish his son all the best and am sure old Slim is up there singing his heart out and admire him for sticking to music his entire life. Hope t that answers your question. :-)
You really Are stupid and uninformed. The yodel was only done no more than 10% of the time . Slim's voice compared to the artists you listed is light years above them. Those who can DO and those who CAN'T criticize!!! Get your ears out of the gutter fatso!!!!
This is great if you get into this type of music. I love Rock & Roll, jazz & classical guitar . Everyone is entitled to support and listen to the music of their choice. Rap and opera is what I CAN'T stand especially RAP music .
I can't find much information on Byron. I didn't know Slim had a son until I saw them on RU-vid a few weeks ago. Now I can't get their beautiful voices out of my head! Love their music! Sure do wish Byron would post something for us all. Would love to know how he is. I pray he is in good health and enjoying life. May God Bless him.
