Indian Love Call was made for Slim.....fantastic! Nashville may have ignored him, but millions around the world love him, and knew his talent was unique.
From 1955 to 1958 my dad was stationed in England (USAF)) He bought a record player with a bunch of 45's Slim Whitman, Hank Thompson ,Webb Pierce, Ray Price the start of my listening to country music
He wouldn't knuckle under to the Nashville machine. He wouldn't sing beer drinking, truck driving songs. If he couldn't sing it in church he didn't record it. He recorded 537 songs. One of his U.S. TV Lp's sold 4 miilion units. A sales record.
The Beatles were fans of Slim. Paul was a guitar player before he was a bass player. He has been quoted as saying that it never occurred to him that you could take a guitar and turn it upside down and restring it so as to play it left handed until he saw Slim. Lots of people laughed at Slim's TV commercials, but he was a very popular and especially gifted artist with a beautiful, unmatched voiced.
I have visited England for his concerts 1990, 1993 and 2002. We were from the Netherlands with a bus members of SWAS. My all time favorite country singer.
I was fortunate to see him several times and was always impressed that he took as much time as necessary to greet, sign autographs and whatever to those queuing after the show. A true gentleman. ❤
@@stephenmills8617 Anyone I have ever known who saw one of his shows and even people interviewed on TV who knew him all make sure to mention what a true gentleman and genuinely good person Slim was. I just regret so much never having seen him live.
It’s not often you stumble across a legend like this I’d completely forgotten him until I looked on RU-vid and saw his picture what a legend this man is👍👍.
God I love this man, his amazing voice has got into my hart since 1971, I was 18 years old, now 68, loved him practically all my life, had the privilege of seeing him twice in our uk, Loved him nearly all my life, broke my when he passed away, got ❤️LPs from the 70s I loved his voice which was is heartfelt beyond anything, but when in the 70s when I met him in our uk, he was such the man I imagined, handsome big awesome of my dream man, whats wholesome of the perfection of the man I love, god bless you slim Whitman, I love you dearly,❤️❤️💕💩💩❤️🥰🥰👏
Ive seen slim four times and he was better in those live shows and here as well but never have I heard such clarity in any ones voice as that of the late great slim Whitman.just brilliant.
I saw slim about 5 times, 1970,s 1980,s Liverpool Preston, Warrington. I wish I had been 20 in the 1950's I could have followed him for 50 years. Words cannot describe how I love him and his songs
My father liked him and I adored my father. It is a blessing to know what a devoted family man and strong Christian. God bless men who serve the Lord Jesus.
Thank god we were all given different voices, this man has a beautiful voice that has given millions of us a huge amount of pleasure for years his voice will on,
Best ever! Could a voice like that be found these days? Don't think so! Heard this in the '50s, when my grandfather would make us be silent to listen to this wonderful voice. I didn't get it - but do now!
I think many of us in our 70’s plus will always remember Slim Whitman’s songs and never tire of listening to him singing. Thanks to all these people who are bringing his songs/music back again.Nothing to beat the old songs at least you could hear what they were singing.Brilliant.
HOW A BELOVED, MEGA TALENT, LEGEND LIKE THIS HAS BEEN DENIED ENTRANCE INTO THE CMHOF IS DESPICABLE. THERE IS SOME REASON FOR THIS, WHICH MAY BE REVEALED SOME DAY.
I am a fan since my early childhood in the fifties, when I learned reading and writing on primary school, Netherlands. So I could by 78 rpm record Rose Marie/We stood at the altar
