I am SO grateful that I found this sport in 2022. I am ADDICTED, because it's FUN, it is like martial arts because it connects mind, body, and soul, and you get to meet people and one of my bucket list events is to attend a slingshot competition, and an airgun competition. I'm new to both sports and I found my people ! Nerdy, musical, fun people !
I totally agree with the closing statement. Decide what your main ammo will be, then try different elastics with it until you find what works best for you. After you found your favorite elastic, you can always shoot heavier or lighter ammo, but you will definitely know what to expect with your main ammo. I would also add try different band rigging options as well and decide what works best for you. I found years ago that shooting against the ties works best for me. It eliminates almost all band slap for me ( regardless of ammo weight ) and increases my band life. But there is a right way and wrong way to shoot against the ties. Simply shooting an over the top slingshot backwards is not the right way. That's just asking for rubber in the face.
Really good video. Nice clear explanation. I really liked the graphic that showed the various grades of Theraband thickness since I'm a "visual" learner as opposed to auditory. Also, video was nice and short and to the point.
Very good info ,I use the Golds Gym kind of bands that come in a pack and I've found that shooting with flat bands have more accuracy then tube bands and a guy I sent 2 slingshots to. Says he finds flat band more accurate as well!
This video was made in 2015 before the latex scene BLEW UP! Theraband was a great option in 2015, but we don't recommend Theraband at all any more. It's a fine elastic, but there are much more effective latex options now. SimpleShot black outperforms Theraband in every category. We would recommend it over Theraband. Regarding Theraband, 0:45 will show the different thicknesses of the Theraband lineup.Gold is by far the most popular, since the others are much thinner.
Stay tuned for a whole Pro Tip video on that exact topic! It's more than we could say in a comment, but thank you for the question. We'll bump this video to the top of the list!
Can someone discuss using clay ammo? I live in a suburban area and steel is not a good choice here. Besides leaving steel shot scattered about the yard, my occasional wild shot can have serious repercussions as it could go farther due to higher mass. I just got my Scout XT and 1000 clay 5/8” ammo to learn with.
There is not too much to know about clay ammo except that the ammo mass should be matched to the band you are using. Clay ammo is quite light for its size and shooting it with overpowered bands tends to destroy accuracy, as clay ammo is not perfectly concentric. We would assume you are shooting 3/8" clay ammo rather than the 5/8" you mentioned. If so, any of our flat bands made for 1/4" steel ammo will be ideal for clay ammo.
+Ethan K. Either are fine, just make certain that the power of the bands is matched to the weight of the rocks. Less speed is generally better for rocks to keep them from veering as badly in flight. Try not to overpower rocks for best accuracy
A note on shooting rocks: always avoid irregular or jagged rocks, as these will have an erratic trajectory and can cause fork hits. cut bands, or worse. Rounded pebbles from a riverbed or a seaside beach are your best option: look for pebbles with a symmetrical shape, as these will have the best ballistic properties, and can be quite accurate. Like for other types of slingshot ammo, the band set used needs to be calibrated as far as possible to the weight of the pebbles being used. Moreover, the pebble size should not exceed 40% of the fork width available to be on the safe side.
How about Square black bands ? i bought a couple of meters . different length configuration ... i can't compare them with other material cuz its not available in my country :/ MOROCCO
We don't sell amber any more no. The black outperforms it on every level. Scout bands are here: simple-shot.com/vip/7-16-steel-bandsets/ The 7/8" bandset is the one that comes with the Scout.
Eu comecei a ver os vídeos a pouco tempo. 3 meses apenas. Tudo para mim é lição. Obrigado. I look your vídeos an smal time. 3 month mor or less. To me, is new this information. Thank you. Im sorry dont speak english. 😊😊😊👍👍👍
I was shopping around for Theraband Gold the other day on the internet, and I ran across a site touting the fact that Theraband was latex-free, and therefore compliant with all the hospitals that were banning the use of latex because of patients who were austensibly "allergic" to it. So does Theraband have latex or not? Many thanks.
Aymane Soussi Simple-shot.com, obviously. If shipping is killing the deal because you're not from USA you can check on Ebay. I found some here in Canada sold by the foot on Ebay.
i am Dominican and I would like to send me several rolls to my country because here gums are very hard and uncomfortable wing hitting the tanfasil blaco and the worst that does not last long (as costs aproposito)
We sell one length of bands (they are all 10 inches) in pre-made band sets. This video is about materials. You can buy latex in bulk and cut it to whatever length you want. You'll need to cut the latex and tie in your pouch, but in this case any length is available. We are sorry for any misunderstanding. All our pre-made bandsets are the same length.
@@simpleshot hi i was wondering if i can buy latex in bulk from you? Or from the maker? Im looking for theraband gold in 3mm 1/8". Wow much per meter and per roll. Thanks nathan grueber
Adulterants-(uh-DUL-teh-runt) A substance added to a product but not listed as an ingredient, or a substance that ends up in a product by accident when the product is made. Adulterants may be in foods, drugs, and other products. An adulterant may cause a product to be harmful, cheaper to make, or not work as it should.
7$ for 1 band 31$ for 5( canada prices). go expensive or roll the dice with amazon. 11$ for 10 here we come😂 . (might be a rookie mistake) im not making a career of this. i might be wrong. and il retract this statement... But if its still here.. its overpriced. its complicated. (depends on your reason. your a kid you dont have all the cash, ur an adult (and have tons of other options for hunting). it might make a diffrence on were you come from aswell.
We understand, and we are sorry about those shipping costs. 😩 We acknowledge that shipping prices have increased. We do not mark-up shipping at all, and we charge no handling fees. The cost that you see to ship to your address is exactly what we pay to get it there. We wish shipping did not cost as much but it is not something that we have any control over. It comes straight from the carriers themselves.
@@simpleshot I'm really struggling to find a good blue band set I don't know if u have any I shoot 10mm right now on snipersling yellow.7 cut 25/20 but I like blue 😂
There is a pack of rubber slingshot bands for 40$ on eBay… I recognize the rubber they use …I know it from grow up as a kid and I used to find rubber bands that had the greatest power for shooting them… they look like the first one you showed, the gold ..,, except the band I’m talking about has almost a texture like bumpy a little bit… those ones are the best in my opinion…they are like the gold just way thicker
Not really sure what they're made of. There are really just a few suppliers of modern slingshot elastics out there. The rest are going to fall far short.
Have a look at this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-znbW4HkdYIk.html Also stay tuned (subscribe to be sure you don't miss it) because we're about to drop some great videos on speed and bands!
I have her last question why are you call a flip a slingshot a slingshot is what David used to kill Goliath not a flip a flip user rubber band or any type of rubber can use not a slingshot a whole lot different in twins slingshot and a flip you know what even talking about
David used a Balearic Sling to slay goliath. A rubber powered device goes by many names...including flip, flipper, slingshot, cattie, shanghai, beanflipper and many others. It is generally best that folks not get hung up with semantics when referencing a device that is generally understood to be known by many names. Great question though!
