What is the weight in grains of the .38 caliber lead balls? Are they actually .375-.38" caliber, or actually .357" caliber that we're all familiar with? If we know this, we can calculate the energy with this formula: B*V^2/450395=X, whereas B=Bullet Weight in Grains, V=Velocity, squared, and X=foot lbs of muzzle energy.
what are some weak/easy to pull flat bands that work great and are extremely accurate. KEEP IN MIND I WILL USE THESE FLAT BANDS TO HUNT SMALL GAME!! thank you for your time! :)
Lol Weak AND “extremely accurate” i think youre living in a dream sir. The bands arent whats accurate, its you, and the power behind it. A new band aint gonna magically make you aim better. And the weaker, the less power behind it, meaning it will fly straight for less amount of time. You loose power, you loose accuracy.
Christine, using a slingshot, even one much faster than 208 fps, wouldn't be a good idea for on an intruder. You'd be much better off with good quality pepper spray. Do a search for Fox Labs 5.3 and get the fog, not the stream. When caught off guard, even trained police officers have difficulty getting their composure together enough to hit an assailant with a handgun and 15 to 18 rounds of ammo. Pepper spray will give you a good chance to get someplace safe and call for help.
Sure, you can take small game by shooting a 100 grain ball at less than 400 FPS, only if you're willing to beat the poor animals to death. Try shooting an arrow or knife with the slingshot. At least it would be more humane. For home defense, an 80 or 100 grain projectile at least 700 FPS is what I'd recommend. A 250+ grain projectile at 900+ FPS should work well, but firearms and airguns are more likely to do that than sling shots.
Lead ammo that size will between 80 to 100 grains going around 200 fps gives you 6 to 7.8 foot pounds of energy. That is plenty for most small game . You. Can double that triple that with have your bands and ammo
