i'm pretty sure this is the same slipknot song that was the intro song to ATV Off-Road Fury 2. it was either this or duality i can't remember. i think it was duality. either way, before i forget is a classic
Yeah it's pretty close! Try and listen to "Go" & "Why Go" (also by PJ). Their main beats are almost identical to the one in "Before I Forget", I'd say😄
I wager a high percentage of the guitarists my age (20-somethings) fell in love with the instrument because of guitar hero. Definitely, playing guitar hero and watching school of rock had a huge impact on me.
Yup, same for me! Saw Fortnite made a partnership with Metallica and all the oldheads made fun of it. They don’t understand how big an impact gaming has on the younger generation and it helps keep the music alive.
I loved that after they had success after Wait and Bleed they continued to hone their craft and work on their playing skills. Most bands stall in the their music skill after hitting it big.
many years back, around Subliminal Verses release, i remember seeing an interview with the guitartists from Slipknot (im sure it's still floating around the internet somewhere). They were asked about the difficulty of adding solos. Their response was something to the effect of: The band members have always been more skillful than they let on. Initially, they felt that talent was out and being too good would alienate fans and didnt fit the image they had cultivated. So, they intentionally "dumbed down" their playing on the first two albums. Metallica even did the same by removing solos from St anger. But by the time subliminal verses started coming together, the back lash from st anger showed them that their audience was hungry for awesome technical playing. moral of the story: the playing should always be in service to the song, but never dim your light.
If heavy music isn't technically done so well, its just heavy on the ears. Love that Rick is pulling in on the heavy hitters more and more. Metal is not dead!! Now get Kerry King on the Chanel already!
🥲🫶🏾 I’ve been a Slipknot fan since the 90’s and I’m still hear. 👀 I do tend to listen to the first two albums more often than not (🤯 Iowa blew my mind) but I do still like most of what they’re putting out. I cried like a baby over Joey.
Production wise this will always be my favorite Slipknot album. Super clear but still very natural and raw sounding at the same time and the guitar tone is one of the best of all metal records
Exactly how i feel about Pantera, mainly their live shows, they were so so very tight in the measure, like if that measure was a actual box they easily were filling the corners, just like slipknot, both their tones were so big but still cut so deep it becomes just one solid noise of tone that stays like a freight train on the tracks
Rick…..ur my hero. Without the instruments always being present, Ive been analyzing and breaking down songs to anyone who will listen to me for 25 years!! Let’s do lunch lol
As I drummer I feel obliged to point out that there is almost a 0% possibility that this beat was inspired by voodoo child (or any other). There is not in the slipknot beat the emphasis on the offbeat he is referring to in the rhythm of voodoo child, and so there isn't really any equivalence between them.
u duh man Rick! Keep going. Don’t change a thing. You need to start the BEATO television network. Populate with all things music curated by you as the CEO. “BEATO APPROVED VIEWING” I’m serious. it would be huge. Live concerts, music classes, interviews, reviews, etc…
