FACT... the studio stuff is great for albums but when it comes to being live,,, BE LIVE!!! You want to see a fanbase turn on a band? let em get busted lip syncing their shit live. We expect it to be a bit off pitch. We expect your voice to crack a bit. we pay a lot of money to see bands perform live and we won't tolerate a fake ass show.
@j hill ive been a part of the real screamo scene for a while too and we're just as pissed at people who know nothing about music calling shit that isnt screamo screamo lol
I'd have to disagree with a band lipsynching a concert being "fine". If a band comes out and lipsychs they're show then I should get to use Monopoly money to pay for my ticket. I mean, if they're giving me a fake performance then why shouldn't I give them fake money? Cheers, brother.
@@RudeLifeX The metal community as a whole feels that if a band is lipsynching a performance, then that would be the end of their record sales and support.
RudeReviews one of those things haha i wouldn't pay to see a rapper live, I love rap but to me it's not worth it to see anyone live unless there's real instruments and a band playing music. If I hear a backing track behind the band I don't want to see that at all live. I see so many pop artists and rap artists than have their music playing behind them through a backing track the whole time which is just embarrassing, especially when they pause for a second and the song is still singing behind them.
Agreed. I've been a studio/session musician since the late '80s and some days you've got it and some days you're... crap. It happens. Maybe they're sick. Maybe they're performing too much for their body to heal. I never feel ripped off when I go to a show and one of the musicians (obviously, including the singer) has a bad night. Am I disappointed? Maybe. But I appreciate the fact that he (or she) came out and tried their best. If I came out on stage and faked an entire show just so my fingers were fresh for any "backstage activities", instead of playing until I bleed for people who paid to see me perform, then I deserve to be punched in the throat. Cheers, brother.
Yess, so true!! Tool had & continues to have *extremely* hardcore loyal fans as well. Also, I'm not a fan, but ICP's fans are crazyyy loyal...almost to the point of being cult-like haha.
@@dylanthompson1602 incorrect. Corey, Clown, Craig, Sid are all from Des Moines. Mick is from Clive, IA. Jim is from Las Vegas originally but later moved to Des Moines.
Pretty much everyone from the original lineup, including the ones that are not with the band anymore, are from Iowa. Joey before he left. Paul (RIP). Jim joined later on which is why he's from Vegas rather than originally being from Iowa. Best fucking thing to ever come out of Iowa though.
Heavy metal is a unique genre. The number one thing that will get you respected is being authentic. Metal heads dont care about clothes and materialistic objects getting dirty at a show. We're there to be apart of the show. Metal bands never use a play back track. If they ever did. They would get laughed off the stage. That shit is so fake... Over in Europe heavy metal is the number one genre. It's totally flipped over seas. Rap is a small genre. Metal dominates all over.
i wouldn't say metal is the number one genre in europe, this video was from download festival in england, and our mainstream charts are full of pop shit and other crap simon cowl is throwing out of those damn talent shows.

I've been to lots of concerts. Metal is family. If ppl can't get down or up we help each other. It's about music, and the love of it. Even in the pit they watch out for each other.
dude, you gotta get into some more slipknot, but ease into it, start of with songs like duality and devil in i and psychosocial. then get into some more heavier stuff like self titled era and if you feel brave, get into the iowa album.
Personally i prefer iowa to selftitled, but if youre getting into slipknot, use dualuty psychosocial etc as a gateway, but head straight to selftitiled cos i think that it has some of the core of the slipknot style
Dude, I really dig your setup. Nowadays you see people with $5,000 worth of PC gear and microphones and cameras for a simple RU-vid channel. You are an inspiration to everyone who wants to do this but is on a budget. Keep doing you brother.
I was at this gig. Download is a metal music festival in the UK, in Donnington Park, it holds 110,000 people, and the atmosphere was insane. One of the best live shows I've ever seen, they played for just shy of two hours.
Went to their first concert in Brisbane Australia , indoors only 2000 people there. February 2000. Seeing them again supporting Metallica October 29 2019.fucking great live shows.
You hit the nail on the head with Corey (the singer). He is one of the best front men in not just metal but in anything because of his ability to control and interact with the crowd, people can say what they want about his abilities but that level of control among thousands of people is rare. I've been to slipknot shows and it's an experience unlike any of the other concerts I've gone too. I've seen more "technically talented" musicians, and although they are great, it's a different experience. Kiss used to call themselves "the greatest show on earth" despite them not being the greatest musicians ever, I think slipknot is very similar in that their show is an experience. (Not saying kiss isn't talented just saying their are more talented bands, but they weren't putting on shows like kiss, kiss was THE show to see, for the experience)
Love how you review this, not many people who dislike metal music and listen to rap music actually complement it and see the good sides to it. Good video cheers 👍
+ RudeReviews. They are from Iowa. Download is in the UK. Gorgeous dog btw. Wanna check out other bands try Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Helloween. Metal Church. Amon Amarth, Deadly nights who I just discovered. For your hardcore Pro Pain, Hatebreed, Terror, so many bands so much talent ignored because people are ok with no talent no problem listening to samples, autotuned, lip syncing, record scratching by far the worst, anyways I am a metalhead but love Motown. Life is too short to not branch out music wise.
I was at that concert. I go to Download almost every year, I think I've missed one since 2005. It's the best festival in the UK by far, beats all the other dance and pop festivals hands-down. It started out as Monsters of Rock in the 80's, then came back in the 90's as Download. Went from about 60 thousand to 120 thousand. From the first day you arrive (Wednesday) you can meet people in the line to get in and be hanging out with them until Monday. I've met probably thirty friends I can go to gigs with all over the country just from Download. In the camping fields you can literally take a seat with almost any group of people, be handed a drink and something to smoke, and find a new friend you'll be going to gigs with for years. If you're ever planning to do a festival in the UK, make it Download.
Haha.. what you said about talking slow needs some context : when you've been in that crowd for 2 hours jumping.. you take any break you can get.. catch your breath and get ready to go mental for the last song !! He knows.. let the crowd simmer for a while, they need it !
Not just the crowd but often they might switch instruments between songs, or just need out of the lights and a splash of water to keep from passing out themselves. It gets hot under the lights and jumping and banging around
500k ish at Trumps inauguration vs 120k at Download 2009 still a shit ton of people at that concert if you look at some of the crowd videos you can see spot lights way in the back that is how far the people go. Good Reaction though.
To answer few questions, Download at that time was a UK Festival. Slipknow are from Des Moines Iowa and this song is from their 2nd album Self Titled (which most people consider their first). Their 1st album had a quite few different members, including the front man, both guitarists, no full time DJ or samples artist. Their 1st album was called Mate Feed Kill Repeat or just known as MFKR, which was a Jazz/metal fusion album. It was very different to what was to come after guitarist Donnie Steele left, which was the big influence on the Jazz writing. The original vocalist Anders Colsefni was then moved to backing vocals when they got in Corey Taylor from another local band Stone Sour becasue Colsefni had trouble with the Melodic vocals. There's a little info to partay. The album Spit It Out is from, tends to get the crowd moving the most.
The video to watch to really get a full grasp of how big that crowd actually is, is by watching SIC live at Download. It's that same show, but there's daylight. Enjoying these reactions man!
This video shows Coreys dynamic ability of crowd control. It's practically a super power. The energy in the crowd just takes over you. It's truly amazing
Great reaction, man! Yes, they're American, from Des Moines Iowa. And while that video is from the Download festival in the UK, they get that kind of reaction at shows in the states too. Saw them at Carolina Rebellion in 2015 and that "Jump the fuck up!" reaction was about the same. It's exhilarating to be in a general admission crowd of some 35k-40k people for something like that.
I know he is . I want to see him with lil Wayne. Corey was on a rock radio station years ago and they were playing songs of his iPod and he played Michael Jackson . They were like wtf??? Cory has flows especially Spit it out
Thanks for reacting to this song! This is a great video reaction! By the way they are from Iowa USA. And yep, the drums lifted up into the air and turned sideways and started spinning! They put on a heart of a show! Usually when people go to a metal concert (especially a metal festival which can go on for one whole day to multiple days) they dress accordingly. Don't wear anything you give half a fuck about because it'll get dirty.
Yo if you’re curious Joey (the drummer) turns sideways because he is strapped down VERY heavily to the platform and it’s just a big part of the shock factor just like the masks *The more you know*
You just made my top three reaction channels! Loved this. Well done sir! Around 14:30-ish. As far as Rap/hip hop/pop culture concerts in my experience. Most dress to impress. You go to a metal show, people dress to survive. Comfy ass jeans, sk8 shoes and a concert tee from 20 years ago. That shit gets torn, it's a battle scare from a moment in time WE never forget.
I wouldn't bother seeing them live now, I saw them about two years ago and they mostly played stuff off their shitty newer albums. Maybe 30% of the old bangers at best.
Because it's hilarious to see people's faces get melted it's like back in the day when I played the self titled cassette o got from a friend so my brother could hear it for the first time it was fucking priceless
It's basically kind of a mix between cultures, but if cultures were your taste in music, since usually most people with certain tastes in music have a certain personality
Metal is huge in Europe, Australia, Japan, Mexico and South America. Oh and Russia. One of the biggest metal concerts was in Russia; there were 1.5 million people in attendance.
The reason Corey’s talkin slow is because he just spent 2 full hours pouring his guts out on stage and truly giving it his all. Talk about a workout. Mans gotta catch his breath some time.
You'll find that the crowd at a metal show will follow the lead of the band, because the crowd as a metal knows that crazy shit comes next. And at a real deal metal show, is the friendliest violence you will ever enjoy. It is fucking awesome.
Metal concerts are honestly the best it's all about the experience so many metal artist tend to go all out lol Even if you do not like metal you'll still have an amazing time it's such an adrenaline rush 😂 And yeah you definitely don't wear your really nice clothes to concerts you are constantly shoved and pushed around either by the force of the mosh pit, people trying to get to the front and the ones in the front refusing and shoving them back full force Then when ppl are jumping they're bumping into you jumping on your shoes at times Which doesn't seem fun to some but in the moment it's such a rush you don't care and it's just fun Even the most pit many think it's just punching and kicking the hell out of people but mosh pits at most concerts typically have rules that all fans go by It's not about trying to really hurt anyone but just slam you around If they see you straight up punching ppl trying to hurt them trust me all the fans near you will beat your ass for it lol And they're really good about helping the ppl out of the pit who didn't wanna get sucked into it 😂 Accidents do happen tho ive seen people get their faces all bloodied up from accidental elbows to the face I've had bruises galore the next day And you're definitely gonna be sore even when you're not in the pit lol but in that moment you won't feel majority of the pain because of the adrenaline Its pure chaos but it's also a family and I definitely feel everyone should experience at least one metal concert in their life time lol it's something you'll never forget
Some concerts are a party, some are religious. People can call it following, idol worship, whatever, but you said it.. they're honest, and upfront. And I put loyalty above love. It's not worship, it's trust and understanding. And an outlet to keep the demon at bay.
If u thought a Slipknot live concert's crazy you should check out Lamb of God's Now Youve Got Something To Die For live from download lol feel the energy from that concert brotha :) I accidentally stumbled upon this video and glad that I have I've subscribed and ur the only one I've subscribed to that does reactions video(s) just wanted to throw that out there
You wanna find true metal fans, and really experience the bands, find smaller clubs, and see bands on the rise, not after they’ve become huge, but if you haven’t experienced a big concert before, do it once.
IDK why but I love this fkn song. Metal concerts are full of energy. I work behind the scenes at Rap shows and it doesn't compare to attending a metal show. I want to work one but our label doesn't have metal bands yet. Lol love when you reacted to them getting down. No you can't wear your Jordans to a metal show. I recommend boots because you're going to be sore AF! Lol
just started watching your videos as of yesterday. Good shit on them bro. I would really like it if you could do a reaction video to the band Amon Amarth and the song is called Death in fire
Nothing is comparable to the "Metal Family"....especially the Slipknot Maggots arround the world...Download is the biggest Meetal Festival in England....90.000 to 120.000 People.....check out Corey Taylor, the Slipknot singer, with his side project STONE SOUR....you will hear the variety of his voice....i have seen Slipknot 4 times Live....definatly my highlights in my Metal History.....JUMP DA FUCK UP...if thousands sit down and jump up at the same time....an adrenaline rush !.....Slipknot Maggot 4ever !!!
