They did come out of nowhere. I’m from Des Moines Iowa where they are from and remember going downtown to see them at a place called Hairy Marys. They also had another head singer to begin with before they made it big

Also if you watch the video for Snuff, it features Corey Taylor without his mask on. No other band members are in the video but I think it’s one of the only videos where you see Corey’s face and not dressed up at all

If you wanna hear more stuff like this, I reckon u should check out the band ‘Sevendust’ - they’ve got heaps of awesome songs but ‘Waffle’ would be my recommended starting point. Another suggestion is the Aussie band ‘Parkway Drive’ - recommended starting songs would be: Glitch / The Void / Bottom feeder… luvving the Slipknot reactions bro…I’ve only just taken an interest in them recently too so I’m enjoying the experience of ur journey alongside ya 💪👌
