Definitely the weakest screams on this album since he changed his technique on one of the recording takes and Rick Rubin selected it without informing Corey and he was pissed off and wasn't happy with it overall, but I've gotten used to it over time, and I guess most people view it as being synonymous with this album's overall sound.
Virus of Life is one of the most passed over Slipknot songs ever, I swear. It is very creepy true, but damn that hook just hits so hard. That guitar riff is one of the toughest metal riffs I've ever heard and I listen to alot of metal. Plus Coreys scream vocals are some of the best I've heard throughout all of their albums in this song.
It's A SHAME that a lot of ppl overlook this one, is one of their best creepiest darkest songs, and I love how the vocals aren't clerar, almost like if u're getting buried alive, and Corey did some of his longest screams in that song and no one talks about and few ppl react to this one, it's amazing
I don't think these stats count. When you look around, people deff have something to say about the song, doesn't even feel underrated, I'm always hyped when song starts. I actually skip Before I Forget a lot.
This album got them two Grammys if i remember correctly best metal song and best metal album also Danger- Keep Away is the final song on the album the other songs after that are part of the deluxe version of the album. Also Corey Taylor was at his lowest point during the recording and tour of the album it was so bad that he almost committed suicide.
So some backstory regarding the album. Originally the album ended at Danger Keep Away with Don’t Get Close and Scream being included with the deluxe edition of the album as they were B sides from the album. It’s also worth mentioning that Vermillion follows the story of a man madly in love with a woman he see’s one day (to the point of stalking) only to have a massive emotional breakdown when he realizes that he can’t have her because either literally or figuratively she isn’t real and all the guilt comes down hard on him. Also I agree that Danger Keep Away is an amazing song to zone out to especially late at night walking around outside.
@@drakenn342 that is an interesting theory. I always assumed it was about obsession turned into stalking but I love the serial killer theory as well because it makes a lot of sense when you add in the context of vermillion part 2’s music video.
I saw them on my buddies 17th birthday in Cincinnati not long after this album came out. One of my absolute favorite concert memories ever. Dream come true. ✊🏽
You got Rick Ruben producing this one. First 2 albums their most uncorked rage. From here on out you’ll see more focus on commercial production. They launch into huge band after this album
Welcome to the Maggot Family! It’s awesome to see you enjoy the music I grew up listening to and I’m happy to get to hear these albums again! Slipknot is good for your health and it feels amazing!!
I’m so glad someone appreciates slipknot like you! Their first two albums were statement albums to show how heavy they were. The media called the lead singer (Corey Taylor) out and said his lyrics rely too much on swear words and that he’s not a good lyricist. So in spite of those reviews, he wrote the Subliminal Verses album with no vulgarity to prove he is a talented lyricist!
Fucking YES BRO! I just got home from work, checked youtube while dinner is cooking, and lookey what we have here 😈🤘🏼 I BEEN SO READY FOR THIS YOU ALREADY KNOW OH MY GAAAAWWWWD 😜😜😜😜
Aside from this album 👀 , I just wanted to say that I got respect for you bro…you show interest in different types of music. . Not only do you seek new music. . You evaluate the whole album like a book… and you might not like every song on an album obviously…but your just in for the ride and you be vibin’ ..I think that’s pretty cool. . if you keep listening to rock music you’ll come across some really interesting sounds bro. . Definitely earned a fan thru your interest in the sounds of physical instruments. . 🤘
Glad you pooped on my feeds, I haven't seen anyone actually listen, review and react to entire albums. Awesome concept and what a great way to listen to a lot of my personal favorite albums along with someone... Keep up the great work!
Just found you thanks to the algorithm. I love listening to stuff I love and hearing reactions to it. Keep it up man! I’d recommend going down the “Volbeat” rabbit hole next, or if you want more of the same singer from Slipknot in a little different setting start some Stone Sour
the difference between the original verison of vermilion and the alternate version is that the alternate version brings Corey's more melodic vocals into the front of the mix and pushes the screams into the background instead
Can't wait to see you finally react to this, if you wanna do another slipknot album; We are not kind or all hope is gone are pretty good contenders. I personally like we are not your kind but tbh since all hope is gone is next, you might aswell react to that one next
Man I love to see you enthusiasm listening to these songs, it’s a mirror of myself doing it for the first time too. Sorry to sound like a broken record but I really can’t wait for you to listen to Nirvana… it’s one of those bands that makes you feel things too.
I feel like the Long version of danger keep away (no hyphen) is the most underrated song and i hope one day they play it, theyve played scissors live which is also 9 minutes so i dont see why not
grew up listening to these guys and this album specifically. just stumbled on this vid and by all of your reactions, i am sure we would be fast friends. you caught everything i have 😂 welcome to the maggot pile 🤘
At this point it’s safe to say Danger - Keep Away is my favorite Slipknot song. It’s the one that’s really stayed with me like no others have. While yes there’s a time and place for the others, and boi oh boi have some of the more extreme songs helped me through some shit, most of their other songs speak to my emotions while keep away reaches into my soul and speaks directly to it. Basically, it hits different
This album was their best imo. Their sound was more refined and rich with the right dose of all things Slipknot. Earcandy for days back when I was rocking my early 20's.
I’d love to see you react to some Stone Sour in the future. It’s the lead singers other band he’s done a lot of work with. You genuinely make some of the best reactions I’ve ever seen, thanks for posting these
Thank you for doing the album versions of these. The only difference I’d suggest is to check out the video for The Nameless. To my knowledge it’s the only official live audio of it
You’ve gotta peep the album Clairvoyant by a band called The Contortionist. You will not be disappointed, I guarantee it. It’s not heavy like this per se- but it achieves what very little else has in any genre I can think of.
