This video aims to explain what parts are needed to complete the swap in full. Get these parts and you'll have everything necessary to retrofit the SLK350 composite intake manifold onto your M272.
Since these have been installed, I completed my 93oct tune from OETuning and did all 6 plugs. Car runs great and makes a ton of linear torque and power compared to the stock manifold following inlet swirl flap failure.

I would’ve never even thought about swapping to the 3.5’s intake manifold. Mines has been faulty since I bought it 2 years ago, now that it has over 200k miles I’m finally gonna get around to replacing it but this is good information

WOW 2 whole years running with a faulty manifold? You need to do this mod coz you have no idea what power you're missing

Good job man, am following your project. Am looking into running this intake manifold as well but on my c350

Thanks! It'll work way better on your 350- the extra displacement will help it breathe better than mine does with the little 2.5L

@@danny_playswithcars ohh man, hopefully it works out good for you though!👍 i was talking to another w204 owner and he told me the same thing so i had to hope on youtube and see if someone was working on a swap like that, good thing i came across your channel man, am looking forward on watching more of your content!🤙

Would this provide any performance increases on a 3.5 m272 in a 2010 e350 coupe? Or would it just eliminate possibility of swirl flap failure?

How about a list of parts on this build? On your description perhaps?

I am working on a full write-up for this, just want to let you know I'm not ignoring you.

The picture on fcp showed that it had a red gasket attached to the manifold, did you have to get the normal gasket that goes on the stock manifold?
@danny_playswithcars
@danny_playswithcars Год назад
The composite manifold from FCP Euro comes with the throttle-body-to-manifold gasket, as well as intake manifold gaskets. To complete the swap (outside of any tuning or additional vacuum lines/small hardware) you'll need the M273 throttle body and the M273 air intake boot. The stock MAF will fit the new intake boot perfectly, and your standard air filter housing will then work without issue

Is there a part 3 to this where you actually show the car perform?

See the dyno video on this channel for gains. Car was supposed to head to Lime Rock for testing on June 4th but was totaled by a distracted driver.

My mechanic showed me this in his shop. I too need to replace my intake manifold on my 07E350 sport. Any pointers or concerns
@danny_playswithcars

Keep in mind that this video showcases not only how to replace the manifold, but how to fit the M014 option code single-stage manifold as an upgrade. A lot more straightforward if you replace with the OEM parts, but this guarantees it will never fail again and isn't too incredibly difficult to do.

@@danny_playswithcars I consider looking into upgrading to the same intake manifold. You notice any increase in power?
@danny_playswithcars
@danny_playswithcars 3 года назад
@@Lymeng25 Yes there is an increase, but the main thing is the change in power delivery. The stock manifold makes most of it's power in the mid-range, and falls off up top. The upgraded manifold builds linearly, which takes away from mid range, but pulls much harder up top; ideal for performance driving.

Thanks a lot for the heads up. I’ll be dropping it off at the shop next week

@@danny_playswithcars what was the total that you spent on this upgrade? Rough estimate

Hi, what is your feelings about this mod? Does your car run better?
@danny_playswithcars
@danny_playswithcars 3 года назад
I like it and the car does run well. Start to finish it is a bit pricey, but it's nice to know the manifold will never break again. In cars with the 2.5L like mine, the gains are there but are far less than in the 3.0L or 3.5L M272. For those cars, you're guaranteed good power and also increased reliability.
