Giorgi has always been a tough opponent with a big enough game to challenge the top 10 but her lack of consistency has really hampered her ranking over the years.
When she's "on" Giorgi is an incredible player. And she always looks like a million bucks. Sloane better reassess her whole mind frame when the season's over. It's like she doesn't really care.

Really well played by Giorgi, how about Stephens? ... Well, embarassing, she cannot stop disappointing people. Her and Ostapenko fulfilled their biggest dream- winning a slam and now have no real goal in life. I hope they will get better.
Stephen's is prime example of a player who has no other game then plan A, that's been off most of the year. Getting hammered in alot of matches. She needs to add slice, spin, height and more. On days when shes struggling she needs to be able to rely on something. It's embarrassing for a Grand Slam winner to play like this
I think with Stephens this is a problem that's been going on all year, since she was runner up to Svitolina In the WTA finals last year she hasn't played well hardly at all since. I'm not a fan of Stephen's but right now shes easy pickings. Anyone she plays know they can win. Giorgi is even more unpredictable, she can win easy and get absolutely hammered too in the same week. I think Stephen's needs to add to her game. The really great players can scrap, and find a way when there not playing well but Stephen's normally makes so many unforced errors that it overwhelms her game. It might not be a bad thing if she loses early in Wuhan and Beijing, might be the wake up she needs. Shes likely not to finish the year inside the top 20
This is the kind of match that Giorgi has been trying to play her whole career. She's always hitting for power, for winners. She gets them sometimes but too often misses. Not today.
Y'all can say Giorgi needs to add variety to her game, but she won't lol. The woman just goes out there, plays her game, and gets off the court. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. I don't even think she likes playing the sport tbh. She's even said she doesn't keep up with the game to even care what's going on. 巴刹那 Kerber is pretty old, but i believe that she can come back, and the rest are just declining, although they are young and can make some major adjustments, but i doubt
Victor Lupas mugu is a mental headcase. jelena is mindless ball bashing like keys, and kerber isnt in good form atm. the field is deep and serena learned that the hard way.
Uday Singh Bhati Ostapenko, Muguruza and Stephens are the biggest disappointments in WTA history, I wish they had never won a slam. Muguruza has 4 consecutive 1r losses right now.

@@federicoxochitototl8855 I don't know what is going to happen with Bianca but there are some different things about her compared to Mugu, Osta, and Sloane. I see 2 big differences: 1- Mentallity, Bianca has big ambitions while the other 3 were satisfied with 1 slam or 2. 2- Stats, Bianca this year is 45W 4L(92% win record and 100% win record vs top 10s.This year not even Rafa, Novak or Roger have a record like this so the level of Bianca is Higher than what Sloane, osta or Mugu ever was.
Sloan’s is not in the right frame of mind right now She should never be losing to opponents like giorgi if she plays well. She’s dropping like a rock and fast.
I love Sloane but I think it's time for her to hang up her rackets. Her poor performance have been consistent the past couple years. Not to take away from Giorgi's performance. She played impeccably. Fantastic shot placement. Agile and energetic movement. She deserved the win.
This is an embarrassment. I’ve just wasted 8 minutes of my life watch Sloane play like she doesn’t want to be there. She should change her name to Slow Anne Stephens. She’s all over social media acting like a princess and she can’t even put a decent fight? Seriously? What the fuck Slow Anne?
I know Stephens said she had trouble with jet lag, but she clearly could’ve tried harder than this. There are so many things that need work in order for Stephens to recover. For example, fixing that powder puff of a serve.
I think Giorgi played an amazing match and really took the racquet out of Stephens’ hands... However I am not fond of Giorgi not being humble enough to thank the crowd... instead she packs up with her usual demeanor.. She’s a dangerous player but I’ve never been a fan of her attitude..
Camila could work on her on court personally... goes along way with marketability... hope she can pull off a drop shot and a lob ... if she could do that along with stronger 2nd serve adds more to the arsenal... the tennis clock is ticking....
Good for Camila... beautiful tennis Barbie all business... perhaps chip on her lovely shoulders from her US Open exit and loss in final in Washington. Power hitting never a problem for her along with her speed.. but she needs more diversity in her game. Sloan looked simply stunned.
I am happy to see Giorgi's game at her best ! She should still improve her counterattacks when she is under pressure, instead of returning a short midcourt ball. Her handshaking at the end of the game doesn't show friendliness nor even attention : that's to be improved too... I hope she gets more mature with time.
It's very obvious that grand slam winners are not interested in these tournaments, specially in Asia. Same with Serena, Halep, Sharapova, Azarenka and others.

Was there any on court coaching for Stephens during this match? I would have loved to listen to it. I wish to know what Kamau is doing for her because she has not won a match since she hired him back.
There was, her coach said to her to step back so she had more timing and to wait for Giorgi to miss. I guess it helped in the second set but still...go Giorgi :)
Hope Sloan gets her act together soon!! Maybe spend more time off the court getting physically and mentally fit. So obvious she doesn’t want to be on the tennis court. Get healthy...and lay off the chocolate milk!

I know sloan made it to the US Open Champion by mixing defensive play with flickers of offense when her opponents were ball bashing and capitalizing in their inconsistency, however, She has been letting her opponents dictate too much. she is just a passenger out there.
