Slow ’N Sear Travel Kettle Grill! Chuck Eye Steaks! Seasoned with Grillaholics SPG!

Butcher at the grocery store had this marked wrong! This seemed to be a chuck eye roast cut in half and called steaks! Watch how we reverse seared these steaks!
• Started with two huge chuck eye steaks. That’s how they were marked at the grocery store. I believe this was actually a roast cut in half for 2 steaks.
• Seasoned with Grillaholics SPG.
• Set up the SNS Travel Kettle direct and indirect cooking.
• Lit the charcoal in the Slow N Sear to hold around 275 degrees.
• Placed the two chuck eyes on the indirect side until they reached about 80 degrees and then turned them over to promote even cooking until 110.
• Let the grill get nice and hot and started the sear.
• Seared for 1 minute each side 2 times before pulling them to rest.
• Let them rest for about 15 minutes before cutting into them.
Summary: The Slow ‘N Sear Travel Kettle is a work of art. All of the features of the SNS 22” Kettle in a smaller package. These 2 chuck eye steaks did have some good flavor, but were for sure a roast. My first bite was nice and tender, but as I ate more of the steak, I got to some tougher parts of the meat. Still tasted good, but would not get these again!

I always called chuck eyes the poor mans ribeye and I ate many of them in my younger years! Now I don’t eat as much steak, so usually stick with ribeyes now. Cheers!

These were good, but not as good as I had before! Now that I have been using my boards for some time, I don’t oil them every time. I always wash them with soap and water, but it they look a little dry, I will oil them. Cheers!
