I made one of these splash block sluices , painted it the same , but i also found a piece of flexible ,plastic gutter cover , about 6" wide that has 2 layers. The top is like a hardware cloth pattern with a black plastic screen beneath it . I guerilla glued a piece , same length as the " sluice" to the narrow end . It works well as a "classifier" . It will tend to fill up a bit unless you raise/separate the sections just slightly ... I keep this in my toolbox in my truck ... Now im never withiut a sluice . It works well enough to test areas that i may want to revisit later ....

Home depot-4'- of corrugated drain pipe 4" or 6" diameter cut in half, something attached to make it rigid. It doesn't miss gold unless over run. They call it a gutter sluice.

Hey James! Thanks for coming by and yea I’ve seen that a few times and seems to be a really solid and effective sluice. I actually did a video with something similar (I called it the Jeff Martin Sluice). That sluice kinda of had the same principles but it was kind of hard to run material throughout because of how small it is. I do want to try and gutter sluice out. It’s seems like a fun build. Maybe this winter I’ll try one out. Thank again for stopping by my friend. Welcome to the channel and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving :)

Much love Gold Hunter 77! Thanks for noticing that an appreciating it. You know very well how hard some of these are to make and we go through countless hours of filming and editing just to produce 5-10 minutes of video. We’re both still very very new to this and I bet with another year or so we’ll be producing even better content. As one creator once told me… “strive for a 1% improvement on every new video.” I live by that now and it keeps me motivated. Oh and I never worry if a video does bad and flops. If it does, then it was meant to be. So thanks again Gold Hunter 77. Your comment meant the world to me today. Keep being great and keep up the great work! You’re blasting up there!!!

Another tip for the splash block. A lot of material will flow past the riffles to the sides . You can extend the riffles with silicone or block the sides by gleuing a piece of wood or something like that between the riffles and the sides.

Well on the first run of the plash thing, the consentrates were off to one side which probably affected the capture rate. Id go with any lid or whatever that has similar pockets in it.

Exactly! Almost anything flat with grooves can capture gold. If I do this next time, I actually want to make a DIY sluice with a bit more ingenuity and not just the product. If I know one thing… gold can be captured in just about anything :) thanks again!

@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser, FYI, I seen Dave Turin's new show "American Backyard Gold". One guy laid a tarp in a small creek/rivulet and put flat rocks all over it, then shoveled gravel onto it. He got a nice amount of gold. Got me thinking. Groom a slope in the creek, pin the top corners, roll the tarp out a bit and lay the flat rocks in a row, stagger the next row in between the top one to form a triangle pattern and so on. Maybe even give the tarp an undulating up down pattern as well, then wing dam it to get a decent flow of water. Thought, in a pinch, and it was a good idea for low flow areas where even a small sluice wouldn't work so well but test pans show a decent amount of gold if you needed to sell some.

Great videos... I'm constantly experimenting with different things from home depot, walmart and the the door stores... You should bolt some small aluminum stock to the underside of your lid and splash block... Like 'L' brackets that have 3"-6" feet sticking down or 'C' brackets that you can set something on to help hold them place... Or just use a couple of those hidden gutter hangers...

Fun little projects non the less. I actually use the splash guard quite often to clean up my panned concentrates. Works pretty good for something that is so cheap. Others have commented as well on adding a bead of silicone to both sides to avoid cons going down the sides where there is no riffles. I haven’t done that yet but it’s in the works.
