Was expecting bad video, just something where I could take a look at american's 787 before my flight next week, but instead I got a great, interesting and well made video! Keep it up🔥

Great video. I'm trying to decide between American and United in my next economy flight to Europe and this definitely helps 👍

Do you have an option for British Airways or Delta? Their services are excellent too

Those AA seats are mire comfy than United's because they are older seats, dating back to 2015 before Oasis was even a thing. But I bet you'll change your mind after flying in one of their Block 2 787-8s, or those future 787-9s since they use the same seat model as United.

I agree, I do not like the Collin Aerospace Aspire seats that United uses on their fleet. The older Safran Weber seats feel more comfy and easy to take a nap in, fyi Safran seats are also equipped on older Emirates fleet as well but ofc Emirates has more amenities to that version

If AA has no plan on retrofitting their 787s to match the 2024 cabin, they deserve more criticism than what United got for slow Polaris rollouts. United's Polaris holdup was caused by supply constraints while AA's holdup is because they have no plan to retrofit (this conclusion comes from how their plans only mentioned A321T, 777-300ER, future 787-9, while they don't mention any existing 787s). And this expectation for AA is actually more lenient than the expectation for United because I'm only asking AA to retrofit 787s, which is a small number of planes compared to all the planes United has retrofitted. I'm only expecting AA to retrofit 80 planes (777-300ERs + existing 787s) while United has been tasked to retrofit 138 planes (older 787s, most 777-200ERs, most 767s)

Indeed, the next two videos are going to be covering United and their upgrade plans. I’m in Fiji now so can’t re-edit the videos to include what United just said in their investor call re: delays, but American simply doesn’t have the money or desire to replace any seats they don’t have to. I gave United more of a hard time re: Polaris because a) they promised and b) it was 2-2-2. American, for all the faults in their inconsistent product between US/AA and aircraft type are at least all 1-2-1.

@@Travelog At least United has now completed retrofits for all 787s and 777s. As for their 767s, they are retrofitting as fast as they can. Only 4 767-400s remain with the old business class seats and 2 767-300ERs have yet to get Premium Plus.

Except for the domestic 777-200s that they are not upgrading. I’ll have plenty to say about those.

@@Travelog I think the PW engine issues might have to do with that decision. The fact that Boeing got more scrutiny than PW for that issue, even though PW deserves more blame than Boeing, is a sign that while a redundancy is addressed, the root cause isn't. UA is stuck between a rock and a hard place for that one. On one hand, the misplaced scrutiny makes the PW 777Ds the likeliest to get grounded again, and upgrading an aging fleet prone to grounding is not worth it. But on the other hand, they need capacity, because Boeing isn't delivering Dreamliners fast enough, and they learned how AA got affected by that heavily due to mass retirement.

And now Doug Parker is headed to Qantas. Hope he enjoys reconnecting with Airbus like he did before US Airways merged with AA

Indeed, I cannot think of another person more qualified in running airlines into massive debt and completely misunderstanding the customer experience. He'll fit in great I'm sure!

Yep, saw that. Video was already edited and uploaded, and I just didn’t feel like redoing it for that update. Point still stands.

I just got from MAD-MIA last week on the same plane but premium economy. We got the new safety video in which all the AA employees act like robots, which is accurate, I guess? I was really surprised at the service compared to my inbound Iberia flight which was a disaster due to bad turbulance. So instead of the ice cream, there's another meal service? I got a chicken dinner, ice cream and a salad befoturbulence. Also may I ask what's a good economy seat for a solo traveller in the 787? I hate that they're 3 across.
