I heard this in the finale just now and it made me so happy that the song officially got used. Im so happy to be a part of this community that has stuck around for so many years. We officially have season 1 finished! This show has brought me so many things including accepting things about myself and Angel was a huge part of that for me. I love Hazbin and Helluva and it will always be a part of my life. Sorry im rambling because this season finale has me emotional but it means more to me than anyone knows.

I've gotta say, Angel dust is probably one of the most interesting characters coming out of this. Visually, conceptually, and just general personality wise.

Honestly, I love the song because of it's chaotic mixture between techno style and mafian 90s musics. Its like...a cursed crossover and its mindboggling how it is done, but its done so well so...props to you my fellow bastards over at vivziepop, props to you.

Hearing this in the season 1 finale made me surprisingly emotional. I had no idea how fond I was of Angel's old theme until now.

This song can actually tell us quite a bit about Angel Dust’s past, when he was alive. (Keep in mind, this is just a theory, and in no way proven to be cannon.) The outfits that we see Angel wearing are reminiscent of those worn by the stereotypical ‘40s and ‘50s gangster/mobster. He is also carrying tommy guns, the stereotypical mobster weapon. This is supported by his cannon death date of 1947. Because of this, we can assume that Angel was a gang member for the last part of his life. Because of his accent, use of narcotics and alcohol, and attitude towards (some) women (see the limo scene), we can also conclude that he is most likely American. I’d guess New York. His affiliation with *ahem* adult films could be a reference to a more desperate time if his life when he was down on cash. He might have sold his body out for cash, and never lost the taste for it. This would also explain why he is sometimes seen in drag. Finally, we come to the name of the song. Polka. Along with the more ‘brass band’ themes of the song, we get some accordion and flute parts as well. The polka originated near Poland, and was popularized enough by this time period to be a ‘thing’. By including, but not highlighting the polka theme, it is possible that we are meant to conclude that he spent part of his life in Poland. Maybe he even grew up there. This was a time when EVERYONE was imagrateing to America, so he probably left Poland seeking a better life. CONCLUSION/TL;DR Angel Dust was born Polish, but imagrated to the USA when he was old enough. With no money and being desperate, he dressed in drag and became an illegal prostitute. He eventually join the New York mafia, and worked with drug dealers. He was most likely killed in a shootout between gangs. Well, there you have it! That’s my theory on Angel Dust! So, apparently just about everything I said in this theory was wrong. I’m fine with that. Basing an entire theory of a character’s backstory on a song with no lyrics is not an exact science.
