Small Bedroom Tour - Box Bedroom Storage Ideas

What do you do with the small bedroom in the house? You think about storage and building everything in so it fits perfectly and creates a wonderful small bedroom!
We've had various layouts in this small bedroom but we feel this has worked really well in this box bedroom, hiding the box over the stairs, having a large desk and room for the bed with storage.

Great idea, RU-vid seems to lack in people who understand that small rooms should be SMALL...Last video I watched had queen sized beds and huge desks in their so-called "box" rooms.

this was such a life saver. i couldn't find any other video that included everything in a room that i had planned to put into one but with limited space. especially linking everything included, as i was struggling to find a bed. my room is only a bit bigger, but this layout will help me in the long run. thank you.

Thank you. You could pop a hanging rail in the storage above the stairs for items that need hanging.

Amazing work! A few things I’d say from experience is: 1) be careful with mould around corners as I can see that two of the walls are exterior 2) maybe add a support leg in the middle of the desk as it is sagging a bit in the middle. Other than that great work!!

Its an interesting solution, Although I'm not a fan of the desk over the bed. I'd find that claustrophobic with it above my feet as I slept. And positioning the bed along the wall as you have, means your head is behind the door, which is also uncomfortable for sleep... especially if you are a glasses wearer as you really need a nightstand. I have a similar situation in my box room but went with a different layout. I have a single ottoman bed positioned under the window which eliminates the need for floor space to open drawers and maximises the storage under the bed. To the side of this between the bed and the bulkhead I have a folding desk and folding office chair, which maximises floor space when not in use. Above this is a wall mounted TV, with HDMI input for a laptop and games console. There are picture shelves above the bed and around the TV for displaying ornaments and other objects. Above the bulkhead I've added deeper shelving for storing more objects in boxes, On the opposite wall is a mirror and some artwork. And there are hooks on the back of the door for other objects. My radiator is by the door rather than under the window, however I'd prefer at some point to upgrade to underfloor heating.

I'm hoping to take this idea and use it for my room, with the bed I'm looking to have this idea will be very functional for the tiny space that I'm working with. As a 23yr old I want to be able to get the most out of my room and have all the grown up features an adult bedroom should have IE: nightstand, dressing table....I don't have one of them stair box things in my room but it's super narrow and tight, and the placement of my window and radiator and how my wall sockets stick out makes it so awkward for me to work around. So I much appreciate you sharing this idea with us😊. Ps if you have any more life saving bedroom hacks please could you be so kind to tell me about them in the comments. ❤

Absolutely lovely! Have you ever considered pegboards or shelves on the sides of her desk for additional storage? She could probably take advantage of the height of her room to add more Knick-knacks, supplies, and pictures.

Yes thats a good idea for her, thank you. This was done in the first lockdown so it wasn't easy to get little bits and bobs for her at the time. She's managed to fill it up quite a lot now 🤣

Honestly was struggling to find a decent room design and my room is the smallest and not much bigger than this but I've done mine out in a Scottish Highland theme and I used Red and Sandy Brown Tartan for the curtains and bed spread to give it a bit of colour and a warm feeling and a couple of Highland cow ornaments, a Stag head table lamp with a shade that matched the sandy brown in the curtains. I made a compact starage area and and a canvas that I painted of the Scottish Highlands at sunset to again add a splash of colour to make it a bit more cosy than the empty space the room used to be. Again tasks for the inspiration.

I have an old pensioner one bedroom bungalow with a boxroom without a window. Your boxroom looks a similar size to mine, any chance of could provide the sizes of the room? I know a standard three foot wide bed will not fit in my boxroom but length wise I'd be fine. I want to create a crash bed for overnight guests if possible. Thank you!

how did you get your box like that as i have a humunggous box but want to get rid of it or do what you did with yours so i can get more space i think the box room looks nice but in general i think it is a horrible room to have a box sitting in a corner and no where to swing a cat but you have turned it nice and its something i would like to do to mine also if you can give me some tips and tricks in how to get rid of that daft huge box and make it like yours

Sorry for the delay, we had a wood stripe along the wall and screwed in. The desk then is sat on top of these and screwed in

Box rooms in bungalows surprisingly don’t have the box over the stairs. 😂 My grand home had a box room that was at the top of the stairs, clear room . Must be English house design of the 80’s?

Ours is 60's, but yes there is so many box room bedrooms with over stair issues in the housing estates in England here! Wish they had made them just a little but bigger!

@@RenovationBayBee typo, I meant my GRANS room not grand 😄 Makes you wonder why any architect would incorporate this design of the stairs? You can add stairs without this design. Just annoying.
