What's the difference between dog food for small dogs and dog food for big dogs?
Nothing. Pretty much!
Don't become confused by differing opinions online, just stick to a basic balance, and use some more of the recipes I have to create a varied diet. Variation = Complete. Not counting nutrients on an excel spreadsheet.

I fed my yorkie (best friend ❤) homemade food similar to this for her entire life. I’m happy to say that she lived a healthy, active life and made it beyond 17 years. Bonuses…She still had all of her teeth and no bad breath.

a hungry dog is an obedient dog. as stupid as that may sound, it's true. ever since our chihuahua gets significantly smaller portions and not as many treats as he used to get, he is not picky anymore, he eats as soon as you put it in front of him and he's much more obedient on walks etc. made a huge difference!

That's why dog trainers suggest training before feeding so your dog is more focused and interested in you. It's better also to train using food from your dogs dinners so they do not gain weight.

I tried all the recommendations for fuzzy eaters. It didn’t work and my dog got really skinny to the point I was worried because she’s a puppy. I switched to cooked food and so far it has been working great. She didn’t like raw food. Kibble, wet food and freeze dried food didn’t work either. I have watched several of your fantastic videos....but I have a question. You always say, upon taking the ground turkey/beef out of the oven, to "be sure you get all of the healthy juices". Isn't that just fat?? I always drain the fat because I'm afraid my dog will get pancreatitis if I don't. Confused.
@thedognutritionist
@thedognutritionist 11 месяцев назад
It's not all fat, and fat is not unhealthy. If your dog has had pancreatitis in the past, then choose a low fat meat option, but don't poor out the fat. Fat is an essential part of the diet.

Be careful, I was transitioning gradually my poodle from dog food to raw, all very carefully, she ended up with bloody diarrhea and acute gastritis. Our vet put her back on dog food, she immediately recovered, they also told me if a dog grew up eating dog food, giving them raw natural diet will cause more harm because their digestion is already adjusted for dog food. it was so scary and so expensive… I’m never feeding her raw ever again. She loves her dog food and never has any problems when on it.

Hi Cam, we've been feeding our dogs raw food diet since they were puppies. Recently, one of our dogs had a blood check up and the result shows that their BUN % is higher than normal adn the vet is sayning that this is due to the high protein diet in raw food. I've done some research online and there were different suggestions and we're not sure which is the correct information. Should we reduce their protein intake?

Sounds like it would be grams, basically a 100grams equals about three and a half ounces so 210 g is about 7.5 ounces, 500 grams is approximately one pound in weight a kilogramme being 2.2 pounds in weight. Is your dog around 20-25 lbs and you are working on feeding 2% of body weight?
