Join me as I learn about Nyepi, the celebration of the Hindu new year as it is observed in Bali. I took a drive to Ubud to meet some friends who were preparing the traditional “tupeng”, cone of yellow rice prepared in the Balinese way, especially for Nyepi. As I drove up through the many small villages and neighbourhoods, on my way to Ubud, I witnessed the communities coming together to prepare their ogoh-ogohs, papier-mâché giants portraying various Balinese demons, to be paraded through the streets on the eve before Nyepi. At night, I’m back in Jimbaran in time to watch the procession of demons loose on the roads in the polar opposite of the following day, Nyepi, the day of silence.
I hope you enjoy the ride and the celebration, and if you do, please comment and subscribe, and don't forget...Life's a Journey...so...Ride On!
