I've just bought the two-tone small seconds hand version. It is stunning in the flesh and makes a change from the central seconds hand. The small seconds dial gives a dressier appearance to the watch. With the date window at the 6 o'clock position, the whole balance of the watch is beautiful. Add in that teak-deck style dial, and it's a winning combination. It could be worn dressed up or down.
Small seconds have always been an acquired taste for me, never really liked them. But on these AT's, I immediately liked them, especially the light coloured dials.
Each is nice in its own way, but I'd choose the big seconds for the less cluttered dial as well as the bright blue seconds hand. I did notice, however, that the silvery date (is it silver) on that model did tend to disappear at certain angles. Don't know if that happens in person. The black date on the small seconds did not seem to have that issue.
Hi Brad, both of these are absolute stunners, and a large number of people place these models significantly higher than the price equivalent Rolex watches. I like the time zone function because the UK (home) is a time zone away from anywhere interesting. While I marginally prefer the Small Seconds model, I'd take either, and I'm not really convinced that the Small Seconds piece is worth the premium. Thanks for this Brad, this is a good one! 😊
Three hander all the way. While I can appreciate the small seconds, it’s just to busy on that watch. Not sure if it’s because I’ve been looking at Panerai’s, but too hard for me to see the date.
