I wanted to build the smallest all in one self power unit. All the builds I have seen have a fuel tank on the outside. I wanted the fuel and battery all inside with the diesel heater.
Here are list of all of the extra parts needed to complete this.
Apache 3800 Case
The heated I used is no longer listed but based on the product size in the listing. I believe these may be true 2kw units.
Most likely 2kw: amzn.to/3wwlTjM
Battery: amzn.to/3QGhUIi
Exhaust Wrap: amzn.to/3wzhEnz
Fuel Stand Pipe: amzn.to/3JYlFoE

Hose Clamps: amzn.to/3yifHwt
Hose Clamp Pliers: amzn.to/4abBpiQ
3 pin connector: amzn.to/3wxZG4U
2 pin connector: amzn.to/44FPZxL
2.5" silicone hose: amzn.to/3ykySWw
2.5" aluminum doors: amzn.to/4bAJ7UI
Fuel Tank: amzn.to/4bwHOpU
Cigarette Plug: amzn.to/3UGLsXx
Deburring Tool: amzn.to/4dBF1xu

Looking good! Keep us posted on the run time. I'm planning to use a 50ah battery but if I could get away with the 20 that would be awesome.

I know the support mods add up but still cheaper than units that are made similar with less mods. Planar Portable Diesel Air Heater goes for $1200 and its just a heater in a waterproof case.

Interesting project - glad it worked out for you. I'd be curious if you'd see any deformation in the thermoplastic around the exhaust pipe when you remove that metal plate - the hole was cut very close to the size of the pipe (could have been a bit bigger), and the plastic was likely touching the hot exhaust. And enlarged hole solves that, of course, if it becomes a problem (perhaps even filling the annular space with high-temp gasket material as insulation). Your approach seems to work in practice, though...

Yeah, worst case, I make the hole bigger. My other 5kw build is done the same and I been running that one for years with no issues.

Great ideas, just a thought but surely that battery doesn't give out enough amps to fire up the unit(9.amps plus)? or have I missed something

That battery spec can output max 20amps. Has no issues firing up any diesel heater. You can check the battery out on my Amazon link. It’s currently on sale for another hour.

Thanks for update,it's available here in the UK. I will incorporate a power supply also as to charge the battery when hooked up. I am aware that this defeats the object of being so compact, but I'm trying to get the best of both. Have you thought about charging the battery when it's hooked up to your cigarette lighter input/output? Thanks again for a very well put together project.

@@stevejohnson5461 I use it in my truck camper so I have a dc to dc charger in the truck I use to charge up the battery when traveling.

Also which case did you use to fit this all in. I didn’t see that in your links? Or maybe I missed that

Mention and showed it in the video. It’s a harbor freight Apache 3800 case.

Did you ever notice a plastic or rubber burning smell? Does it go away? I just got one and has a smell.

I haven't noticed any odd smells with any of the units I built so far.
