Greatest show of all time. Pity Clark never flew though. Welling didn't want to be typecast as Superman, but that shouldn't have stopped him from flying and just not wearing the suit (which would have been incompatible with the premise anyway). Besides that, being typecast as Clark Kent poses the exact same threat.
Not flying had nothing to do with him, the creators of the show said from the very beginning that the show would only go for 10 seasons and there would be no flying or capes, in most versions of the superman story he never learned to fly until after he turned 18.

Superman is not weak to Magic at all. He's just isn't invulnerable to it. The magic only counts as a vulnerability. Not a weakness. He has shown to have a Indomitable Will to resist Magic.
When you see the last fight in this clip you cannot help to feel disappointed with the later fights against Doomsday or Darkseid- 2 punches and it's over...
The "I am Kal-El. Clark Kent is dead" scene doesn't make any sense to me. There was never any question that it had to be one or the other. I've watched it several times... Superman is the perfect example of how we can integrate many facets of our personality together into a coherent whole. He can be both Kal-El (Superman) and Clark Kent. Superman is what he can do, Clark is who he is. As far as type casting is concerned, Tom Welling played Clark Kent/Superboy for 10 yrs. It can't be much worse for his career to wear the cape and give us a flying Superman.
